  • Harry Walker (age 11) created Mission Adventure as a learning experience.
  • Harry's father, Stephen, started the app years prior but shelved it due to increased workload. As Harry's interest in coding grew, it became a perfect project for Harry to complete.
  • Mission Adventure turns any walk into an adventure by setting waypoints in a geolocation style game and experiencing a story.

There are a few ways to develop a new geo-location app. You could have a game studio build one for you, or you could hand off a partially created version to your 9-year-old son who is interested in programming and let him have at it.

After two years and countless mornings before school and evenings that could've been spent playing video games, Harry Walker (age 11) finally finished his app: Mission Adventure.

His dad, Stephen, describes how it all started.

"I came up with the concept of this app several years ago when I was trying to get the kids out for a walk at a local National Trust property. They did nothing but moan about it, but when we arrived, there was a treasure trail for the children to follow and they loved it! I came up with the idea of Misson Adventure, an app which turns any walk into an adventure! Unfortunately, my job is so busy that the project was shelved for several years until Harry expressed an interest in learning to code. It seemed an ideal project for him to learn the basics."

Harry has enjoyed coding immensely and is excited to finally bring the app to the apple iOS and Google Play store. And it's not just Harry who got involved. His older sister Annabelle (age 14) has helped with the marketing by taking photos for social media and sharing videos, and his younger sister Natalie (age 8) has helped write the stories. And for beta testers? Who better than his entire grade school class to help him test out Mission Adventure and make sure it was working properly?

And now it's ready for you to try out too.
