Botzu's Quick Evaluation

+ Archetype: Boomstick Sniper that deals AoE mixed Physical and Arts damage to all enemies in Attack Range
+ Talent: Attacks on unblocked enemies apply a DoT effect dealing a percent of ATK as Arts damage per second for 3s
+ S2: Attacks can Bind enemies for up to 1.5s, which when combined with other crowd control can stall enemies quite well.
+ The "Aosta" meme
- Hard to use even within his own niche due to his small attack range and need for enemies to be unblocked
- S2: Poor skill up time
- Very high DP cost

Operator Overview

“Chiave’s personality, sometimes I also wonder, how does he live until today without anyone beating him to death?”

The final member of the power trio of Aosta, Broca, and Chiave, Aosta is the brains of the operation to go with Broca’s muscle and Chiave’s heart. Thoughtful, reliable, and cautious—the perfect balance to Chiave’s hotheaded exuberance—it was inevitable that Aosta would follow his buddies to Rhodes Island. He’s quickly made himself indispensable as an armor designer, clothes tailor, and 5* Boomstick Sniper who metes out damage over time and Bind effects upon his enemies.

Aosta comes to the field armed with a wide-spread nail gun and the usual Trait of Boomstick Snipers: his attacks are true AoE, damaging all enemies within his attack range, and he deals bonus damage to enemies in the row directly in front of him. His Talent loads his gun with Sharp Nails, causing a Bleed effect (deals Arts damage over time) when he hits unblocked enemies. When you need to kick it up a notch, activate his Shadow Nails Skill, which slows his rate of fire but increases his ATK, doubles the damage from his Talent, and adds a Bind effect to his attacks. Because his Talent both has its effect directly increased and also benefits from the ATK buff, this Skill dramatically increases the Bleed damage from Sharp Nails.

Because so much of Aosta’s damage comes from the Bleed of Sharp Nails, it’s important not to Block enemies in his attack range. This means Aosta is a good addition to a no-Block strategy, especially with the Bind effect from Shadow Nails. However, keep in mind you can’t rely on Shadow Nails too much. Even at M3, the Skill has pretty low uptime, it increases his already-long attack interval, and the Bind doesn’t last for very long. It’s a strong Skill, but Aosta really needs help from the rest of his squad to make the most of it. After all, that’s why he’s been part of a team for so long, right?

Note: This unit does not have Mastery grades. This means the unit is generally not one worth spending the resources of Mastery on. However this write-up should help with skill selection, should you want to use the unit regardless.

Aosta is a bad unit. You shouldn't be using him for any reason other than personal preference. Seriously, use Pinecone, or even Executor.

Okay, if you really insist, you could go either way with his skills, but I'd favor S1. It has slightly better DPS and significantly better total damage. You lose the bind on his S2, but his attack interval is so long that most enemies will just walk out of his range even with the bind.

Profile

Aosta, former Siracusan mafioso, later became a member of Chiave's gang.
After a particular incident, he joined Rhodes Island along with his leader, Chiave, and is now active as a front-line attacker.

Clinical Analysis

Increase Trust to 25.
Imaging tests have shown the outlines of his internal organs to be indistinct due to abnormal shadows. Originium granules have been detected in his circulatory system, confirming him to be infected with Oripathy.

[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 5%
Small traces of infection are visible on the surface of the body.

[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.23u/L
Operator Aosta didn't begin treatment until his infection had spread to a considerable extent. All other indicators are normal, which goes to show he leads a healthy lifestyle. Thanks to this, his condition isn't very severe.

Archive File 1

Increase Trust to 50.
Although he tends to keep quiet, Aosta is a dependable Lupo whose demeanor is almost impeccable.
He may sound a little street with his vocabulary at times, but it's hard to believe he used to be one of Chiave's underlings.
He's cautious, and he thinks his problems through. That has earned him excellent appraisals from all the operators he's teamed up with.

Archive File 2

Increase Trust to 100.
According to Aosta, his work ethic is a product of his time with Chiave.
Indeed, Aosta is careful, if you're feeling generous, but less charitably, he's way too anxious. It's astonishing to see someone as young as him possess such a pessimistic personality, but when you look at Chiave, this perhaps may not be so strange.
Chiave made all the decisions about what to do, Aosta decided how to go about doing them, and Broca did all the hard work. It's clear they made it this far in no small part thanks to Aosta's meticulous planning.

Archive File 3

Increase Trust to 150.
Aosta is the most skilled in handicraft of this trio.
More specifically, he has experience in everything from simple origami to complex sewing. If there's anything he hasn't tried his hand at making before, he's able to make something fairly close after just a few glances.
It's a talent rarely seen here in Rhodes Island—we've also got no plans to hire a full-time tailor here—and that has made him hugely popular among our female operators. He's become far busier outside of his deployments. It doesn't seem like he minds at all, though. He's taken on a variety of requests, and he even seems to be enjoying the work.

Archive File 4

Increase Trust to 200.
Out of the three, Aosta is the only one who has an understanding of Siracusa's inner workings as a country.
Even though he grew up in Siracusa and never traveled abroad, he still understood Siracusa's uniqueness. As we all know, the way Siracusa operates is fundamentally different from how other countries are run. There, the families run the show behind all public affairs.
Thanks to this unique characteristic, life in Siracusa is quite strange even in this diverse world, and Aosta understands clearly that the Siracusan lifestyle is not what people of other origins would consider normal.
It's difficult to say what makes a normal lifestyle and what doesn't. However, when the authorities avoid getting involved with the wars between families, it's safe to say that life in Siracusa can hardly be called normal.
Aosta knows so much about the environment he grew up in, and still manages to harbor such doubts about the place. You don't come across people like that often. The good thing about this is that he was able to adjust to life in Rhodes Island very quickly. Unlike Chiave, who took a very long time just to accept and follow the rules here.

Voice Lines

Default
Appointed as Assistant If you want me to be your assistant, is it okay if I do some craftwork here?
Talk 1 Doctor, if you like excitement, you should probably hang out in Siracusa for a while. You won't enjoy it so much after that.
Talk 2 Considering his personality, sometimes even I wonder why no one's beaten Chiave to death yet.
Talk 3 Doctor, are you interested in DIY? See, the three of us actually design and make our weapons and outfits ourselves. You could join us sometime, if you want.
Talk after Promotion 1 I came to realize one thing while I was cleaning up after Chiave's messes: If you want to be really strong, you aren't going to get there with just violence.
Talk after Promotion 2 In Siracusa, most people my age just want to join a family, but there are also a lot of people who want to live an honest life instead. Sometimes, I think those ones are the best of us all.
Talk after Trust Increase 1 (Yawn) ...Sorry, Doctor, I didn't get much sleep last night. Rhodes Island is way too safe. It's taking some time to get used to.
Talk after Trust Increase 2 Chiave, Broca, and me. The three of us are like brothers, and we've done all kinds of things together. But, sometimes, I really wonder if this really is the life for us.
Talk after Trust Increase 3 To tell you the truth, I wanted to be a public servant when I was a kid. Up until my dad made me pick up a weapon for the first time, that is. I don't hate drifting around with the two of them, but I always felt like there was something I was missing, and I know what it is now. I wanted to become someone as strong-willed as you, Doctor.
Idle Doctor... you're asleep? Taking it easy, aren't we?
Onboard Hello, Doctor. I'm Aosta. It's thanks to you that the three of us are still alive. If you don't mind, please let us work here for the time being.
Watching Battle Record ...Looks like it's just luck that the three of us only managed to survive this long.
Promotion 1 Doctor, is Rhodes Island really a pharmaceutical company? I've got the feeling that we might just be able to take over a Siracusan city if everyone here put themselves to it.
Promotion 2 I think I might just be able to live the life I've always wanted at Rhodes Island... Doctor, do I have permission to open a DIY shop here?
Added to Squad I hope this isn't going to be too much of a pain in the back.
Appointed as Squad Leader I'll give it my best shot.
Depart Let's avoid any unnecessary fights.
Begin Operation Guess we don't have a choice. Let's get this taken care of.
Selecting Operator 1 I'll go.
Selecting Operator 2 Hmm?
Deployment 1 Take all of them down?
Deployment 2 I'll give it a try.
In Battle 1 Hello.
In Battle 2 Goodbye.
In Battle 3 Time to put an end to this.
In Battle 4 Tsk.
4-star Result Phew... phew... Doctor, do you enjoy challenging yourself so much?
3-star Result I got all of them. I just hope they're worth it.
Sub 3-star Result A few of them got through, but I think we'll be fine.
Operation Failure Doctor, you go on ahead. I'll clean up the mess here. It's what I'm good at.
Assigned to Facility I'll just sorta walk around, then.
Tap I can walk, Doctor.
Trust Tap How do you do, Doctor.
Title Arknights.
Greeting Hello, Doctor.

Description:
As one problem is taken care of, another emerges. Aosta is used to planning several steps ahead, helping him deal with the trouble that catches his teammates by surprise. That habit comes from his own personality, as well as the influence of his friends. The foolish rarely live long in Siracusa.
