I know that, in your eyes, she's Rhodes Island's annihilation machine. Miglia's disaster, the Kelvin County butcher, the infected resistors' enemy; the enemies that survived the conflict told you that Sarkaz blood flows in her veins, some infected on the wilderness said she's the daughter of a Victorian steel monster; some even claimed that she has no father, and her mother is a living Columbian nomadic city, and her mother gave her four weapons forged from city walls. Facing her is like throwing your body against St. Petersburg.

But, I believe that, it's hard to be a resilient and honest person in this world, and there's nothing for her to prove. If you think those things are real, then they are real; if you think she's a Feline girl who's not so normal but is quiet and cute, then she's a Feline girl who's just like that.

Don't be afraid of her. The righteous is her friend. Only evil should be afraid of her.

Rosmontis is a 6★ Sniper with a long range that could potentially be a new Archetype.  Her Trait adds splash damage to her attacks, while her Talents increase her own ATK and that of a Caster ally, and cause her attacks to ignore enemy DEF.  Her S1 changes her attacks to Arts, and S2 increases the power of her ATK and AoE splash and adds a chance to Stun.  S3 summons blockers that Stun when deployed and reduce enemy DEF.  It also buffs her ATK and allows her to hit multiple targets, but only attacks blocked enemies.

First Impressions

Note: These are first impressions and based on conjecture since we don’t know the exact details. 

Rosmontis is a Limited Sniper Operator with a potentially new Archetype that is a blend of long-range and AoE Splash.  Her kit is all over the place in what it can provide, though it seems to focus mostly on multi-target damage output.  

Her Trait gives her Splash damage, giving her the benefits enjoyed by AoE Snipers, while her Talent 1 ignores DEF, addressing a common Sniper weakness against high DEF enemies.  Talent 2 will make her a nice pairing with a Caster (though it looks like she'll have to be deployed after, and it seems unlikely it will be kit-defining.

S1 turns her attacks into Arts, making her one of only 4 Snipers that can do Arts damage (the others being ShiraYuki, Aosta, and Blue Poison).

S2 increases her AoE damage output, and adds a chance to Stun (one of 4 Snipers that can Stun) , making it a nice option for stall or no-block strategies.

S3 is by far the most unique addition to her kit, allowing her to drop blockers that Stun and reduce enemy DEF (a potentially great buff for increasing team DPS).  it also increases her power and targets, but comes with the drawback of only attacking blocked targets.  Other abilities of this sort (for example Ayerscarpe S2) have been a bit underwhelming in practice, since heavy blocking is rarely an optimal strategy, especially for some of the toughest game content.  It will be interesting to see the final details, and how this Skill works out in practice.

Imaging test for this Operator showed a blurry outline of internal organs with visible unusual dark spots. Unusually high concentrations of Originium particles were present in her circulation, indicating signs of infection and confirming her as infected at this stage.

This particular individual might be called an infected individual, but she would hardly be suffering from Oripathy.

Would removing this artificial organ allow the particular individual's physiology to continue to function normally? To remove the organ that allows her to breathe and swallow normally, that allows her blood to flow properly?

We don't have that ability. And who has that ability? This experiment is not even likely to be reproduced in the near future, and we now have to reverse its experimental results and reduce it to normal body tissue?

The Lorcan Watertank Laboratory is a wreck, and the few remaining research materials have been wiped out. Whether they were destroyed or successfully recovered by their benefactors is unknown. Those who actually control the lab will not allow this scandal to get out, and neither will the many other tech companies that are clamoring to feed on the remains of the Lorcan Watertank, or who can count the number of spies living in each Colombian city?

Lorcan Williams was indeed a genius, but his ignorance and indifference sacrificed many lives and ultimately buried him. He deserves to be buried for his crimes.

The fact that the Miranda Children's Advocacy Foundation rescued this particular individual from the rubble and then secretly transferred her out of the country was also the result of deep thinking on the part of its executives. No Colombian company or interest group can be allowed to get the fruits of Lorcan. Increase Trust to 50.

Well, we've already made a two-way comparison chart ...... Well, she's just as much of a little Feline girl in person as she looks. Not much to say about that ......

But her Arts, well, we've stopped testing them indoors, but the data we got earlier still tells a lot about her. Ah, it doesn't seem good to mention too many theories, I don't really understand it, Casters keep talking about reverse perception and thought impulses and such, it seems to have more to do with cognition and neurology, it's all stuff I don't understand already.

Let's just talk about the manifestation of such Arts here. Well, after all, a lot of it is also classified, and this information is just to give you a general idea.

Already some people are starting to call her Arts a spiritual entity. Because ...... It's really convenient to explain it that way, figuratively. Her Arts can either extend into a "net" that can sense the movement of objects over a wide area, where individuals are generally unaware of the "touch", or her Arts can simply act on a single individual, which I think might look like a big hand ...... Even asking her to keep her Arts to a minimum will affect at least a few square meters. This is probably because she is trying to "grip" the target. Also, the force doesn't seem to be exerted on the inside of the target, so even if it's a transparent kettle with a clear view of its inner workings, she can't break it from the inside, only squeeze it from the outside. It became more and more like a malleable, moldable, force-applying entity.

During the test, based on the imagery of "hand" and "grip," we surmised that she could, with extreme concentration, use up to "four" large but invisible "hands" to exert force. "Hand". The measurements seem to be based on Arts activity and deep water testing. Both the speed measurement and the strength measurement prove that her Arts power holds a huge amount of energy, but we can't even observe the signs of Arts forming before it operates and breaks something.

Why four, why invisible "hands"? Is it because that's how she imagined it? Indeed, in examining the deformation of the target structure, we almost feel that some of the bumps are like fingernails ......

The temperature difference also seems to cause frostbite and burns when she uses her Arts ...... At least in terms of nerve activity. There were no symptoms showing, except that she would say ...... "cold" ...... or "pain" and based on the activity of her cerebral cortex, this is true.

Increase Trust to 100.

It's been a while since the patient Miranda sent in has started her Operator training. I'm not sure if this was Kal'tsit's or Outcast's idea, but it did make her better.

She wasn't like other lab victims I've seen, often screaming at the top of her lungs or completely incapacitated and huddled in a container shaking.

She was a somewhat educated child from a middle-class family, and that was all I remembered initially. It was only when she was mentally unstable that the damage she did to the hull was truly shocking.

She was terrified of the laboratory. She hated the medical equipment. She was also able to easily crush a device several times stronger than standard armor into a fist-sized mass in midair, and I suspect that if Logos hadn't been there, we'd probably all have died a few times.

This way, we have a better idea of what kind of encounters she's had before. Kal'tsit recently asked Engineering to redecorate some of the labs and the medical rehabilitation ward, and I've changed some of the configurations for the examination facilities and such, and it's a little more comfortable and welcoming than it used to be.

She's not making as much noise.

There's no point in talking to her about right and wrong. ...... She's obviously a very sensible child. But she has been exposed to a mental illness similar to memory loss and she even forgets professional knowledge.

But we've found that pep-training her is effective. Touch speculates that she doesn't really forget, she just seals up the memories. We both think it has something to do with that device in her brain. Or maybe that's what she wanted, so her Arts did it for her.

Her Arts must be more than just a mind drive. Her past encounters haunted her, and that's why she was trying to erase the memories. But she couldn't control the remaining, strong but disorganized emotions ...... a jumbled mess. She gets frustrated with why she has forgotten again, and gets anxious and confused. She agonizes about not being able to meet our expectations, even though we were all more than willing to encourage her and help her. She'll still blame herself.

At least it was impossible for us to retrace her involvement in the experiment. The whole thing was almost hollowed out of her own brain, in a very violent way, bordering on closure. Her amnesic symptoms may even be just a side effect of this act.

Her cognitive concepts are being consumed by her, I guess, by her artificial organs for dealing with her body's ongoing stressful conditions.

I think she needs a recorder. I'll build her a terminal, the kind that's easy to input stuff into. That way she can go through the records from time to time, to dig up the scenes and words she wants to recreate, to bring her emotions back to the facts in her head, to tidy them up. Like giving the dialogue back to a silent movie.

At one point she asked me why she wasn't allowed to wear shoes in her room, and as I explained the safety issue, I thought about borrowing a pair of shoes from Amiya for her to wear when she left the cabin. Amiya herself came over with new shoes and they fit perfectly. The two kids made friends. Amiya was good at calming her down.

At the time I thought that this patient's life should start from now, not whatever she was before. There are still a lot of mysteries about her, but so what.

Kal'tsit said she'd initiate a poll between the Casters and the elite medical Operators in a while. While I'm in engineering and won't be involved, if I do, I'm supposed to vote for the side that lets the kid continue to live on the island. If she needs someone to channel her stress and guide her on how to control her Arts, then the rest of us are perfect for the job.

Lorcan Watertank was not the source of the problem.

Lorcan must have been under a great deal of stress when it happened, or else a man of his character would not have been so desperate.

I don't mean to defend him, but this is a way to dissect his behavior and perhaps argue some of my points.

I think that during that earlier time, he desperately needed the results of his experiments to support his theories in order to gain resources, or maintain his position, or keep the project.

Lorcan would implant artificially infected organs in Special Individuals only because he was working on an infected person project; if this were a brand new bionic machinery project, the experiments wouldn't be tainted with a bit of Oripathy even if half of the organs were replaced.

The Special Individual and her brother were drawn into such an experiment simply because they have some unique talent for Originium Arts ...... The destruction of their family and subsequent adoption, the fictitious guardianship, the illegal foster home, all had something to do with it.

I wouldn't rule out that theory. Miranda's report clearly states that Lorcan had murdered her brother for experimental purposes, and that the accident was caused by Lorcan forcibly activating her infected organs from her brother's extracted "consciousness".

Whether by her own imagination or as reflected in the errors of the scans ....... It's weird, I know. But her "brother" could still be in some part of her brain. She probably doesn't want to know about it - either because of her subconscious rejection, or because her "brother" wants her to.

Overly theoretical neuroscience doesn't work for me. Experimental data, forced by profit, can be squeezed out of a handful of blood. Such experimental data can only support theories of war and violence, and I don't need them.

Lorcan Watertank was premeditated. The fact that a laboratory this small can guide such deep and inhumane crimes only proves that Colombian scientific research has gone too far down the path of privilege.

Compared to Ursus and Sargon, Colombia's laws may indeed be more advanced and strict. But there is no link between the strictness of the law and its meticulousness; those who enforce it and those who administer justice are only human. Progressive societies have the flaw of being more "civilized".

Just because they needed her to be infected, just because they wanted her to have similar powers, to expand her spellcasting by compressing her consciousness ...... That's what happened to her.
