Should You Pull?

YES. SO MUCH YES. Surtr is a goddess of Arts damage and Elysium is a god of DP generation. April and Arene are relatively niche, but they are both quite strong in their niches and not a waste of your resources, even if they’re nowhere near as game-changing as Surtr and Elysium.

Even if you’re trying not to use game-breaking Operators, you may still want to do Headhunt x1 until you pull a 5★ or higher Operator off this banner, since one is guaranteed in the first 10 rolls.

Quick Overview

Arts Guard

+ Ignores a flat amount of enemy RES when attacking (Talent 1)

+ When she takes fatal damage, she remains on the field for a few more seconds before retreating (Talent 2)

+ S1 massively increases the damage of her next attack and refreshes immediately if it kills the target; absolutely destroys weak enemies, since the Skill can refresh indefinitely

+ S2 increases ATK, attack range, and target count, with a further boost to ATK if hitting only one enemy, making it perfect for consistent ST or AOE damage

+ S3 is Armageddon in a cup, increasing Surtr’s ATK, attack range, and target count even more than S2 while also giving her +5000 HP (!)

+ Skills have VERY quick charge times

= S3 is PERMANENT once activated

- Archetype weaknesses: Block-1, high DP cost

- S3 constantly damages Surtr, up to 20% of her max HP per second, typically forcing her to retreat sooner or later

- If using S3 multiple times in a battle, Surtr’s increasing DP cost can become very expensive

Anti-Air Sniper

+ Usual benefits of archetype: low DP cost, high ASPD, prioritizes aerial units

+ Talent reduces her redeployment time (and, at E2, her DP cost), making her almost a Fast-Redeploy Sniper

+ S2 gives her an ATK buff and Camouflage for several seconds after deploying, protecting her from incoming attacks while she shoots enemies down

- Has to be redeployed to reactivate her S2 after it wears off

- Has a longer redeploy timer and a higher DP cost than a true Fast-Redeploy Operator

Utility Vanguard

+ Generates even more DP than Myrtle (!)

+ Talent buffs ASPD of all Sniper Operators and reduces their DP cost as long as Elysium is deployed

+ S2 is an excellent counter to Stealthed enemies and also inflicts movement speed and DEF debuffs on several targets within range (while still generating DP!)

= Doesn’t Block while Skills are active

= S2 still generates DP, but less than S1; if you want him to counter Stealthed units, you have to give up some DP gain

- Usual archetype weakness: Stops attacking while Skills are active

- His S1 requires more SP than Myrtle’s S1, so it takes him longer to start generating DP (important on some maps with very fast starts)

- Low stats make him ill-suited for actual combat

Ranged Guard

+ First ground-based Operator who prioritizes attacking flying units (great for Challenges or CC events)

+ Talent gives him bonus damage when attacking flying units, making up for the damage penalty on Ranged Guard ranged attacks

+ S1 causes his attacks to hit twice, multiplying his single-target damage

+ S2 increases his ATK and attack range, while also turning his attacks into multitarget Arts damage

= S1 reduces his Block count to 0; good if he needs to avoid an incoming enemy, bad if you’re counting on him to Block something

- Higher DP Cost and slower Attack Speed than an Anti-Air Sniper

- Skills have low uptime

Surtr

Surtr E2

Surtr is a woman who takes the difficulty curve of Arknights and snaps it over her knee. Then she sets it on fire.

As an Arts Guard, she already deals a boatload of damage to most enemies; with her RES-reducing Talent, she does even more. Her Skills make that damage potential explode-nentially stronger. In fact, she may be one of the hardest-hitting Operators yet released in Arknights. Surtr can kill anything!—including, unfortunately, herself, since her S3 deals constant damage to her that virtually guarantees an eventual retreat. However, first it’ll trigger her E2 Talent, which keeps her on the field at 1 HP for several seconds no matter how much damage she’s taking, giving her time to incinerate her last few targets before she heads to the bench to cool down.

April

April E2

April likes to dress in bright colors and play loud music, but despite that, she’s startlingly good at blending into the background. Her S2 blesses her with a Camouflage buff that prevents enemies from targeting her directly for several seconds after she is deployed. While she hides in plain sight, April showers arrows upon her unobservant opponents, wreaking havoc everywhere she goes. Once the Camouflage buff wears off, go ahead and retreat her; her Talent reduces her redeployment time, so you’ll soon be able to send her back out for another round of Camouflaged target practice!

Elysium

Elysium E2

Elysium has a pretty high opinion of himself, but he’s not wrong to be proud of his skills. He’s an excellent navigator, a reliable communications manager, and a potent Utility Vanguard who can generate oodles of DP to mobilize his allies into combat. He’s also one of the few Operators who can cancel Stealth on enemy units, and his Talent allows him to communicate a host of useful buffs to allied Snipers.

Arene E2

Arene is here to murder drones and dispense sass, and he’s all out of sass—wait, no he isn’t! Drones and Doctors beware: this headstrong teenager is ready to dole out sharp pain and sharp retorts in equal measure. Arene is the first ground-based Operator to prioritize attacking flying enemies, and he has one Skill for increasing his single-target damage and another that lets him hit multiple targets with each attack. Are you having trouble with drones on stages that ban Snipers? Arene’s magical flail can smash archetype boundaries as effectively as his wardrobe smashes gender boundaries.
