Battle at Big Rock Short Film Debuts

Battle at Big Rock
  • The Battle at Big Rock short film debuted on Sunday, Sept 15th, 2019 on FX
  • Directed and co-written by Jurassic World director, Colin Trevorrow
  • Takes place one year after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

After months of speculation on whether or not it would actually premier, the short film Battle at Big Rock finally debuted on Sunday, September 15th on FX. The film takes place one year after the film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom when the dinosaurs are alive in the world. It features 2 new dinosaurs: Allosaurus Gen 2 and Nasutoceratops.

The 8 minute short packs a lot of action in a very short amount of time. Unlike the other Jurassic World movies, this film used Animatronics so the dinosaur battle is reminiscent of old school Jurassic Park and Fallen Kingdom. It has a lot of the same characteristics as the older films with an epic dino battle, a travel trailer that gets destroyed, and even the smart kid that knows everything about dinosaurs. There's also some fun clips during the credits so make sure to stick around for those.

Overall, reactions from fans have been very positive. The blending of the Jurassic Park style with the Jurassic World story brought some nostalgia that the newer movies are missing. Hopefully we will see more of this style of action in the new Jurassic World movie that is set to start filming in 2020. You can check out the full length short film below.
