Build Burning and Master - Should You Pull?

Build Burning Gundam and Master Gundam

Pilots!

Today we've got another edition of Should You Pull, brought to you by AetherRose on our discord server at https://discord.gg/JTsv8gX. Check out my assessment of this week's banner below!

Master Gundam is coming in hot, and I’m excited to see how they treated this MASTERpiece! Hah...haha. Laugh. ANYWAYS, I legitimately think it’ll be good, just like how I think Build Burning will really raise the bar too! While Try Fighters is probably my most misliked of all the gundam series, I can at least appreciate it’s an in-lore gunpla and will probably receive fantastic treatment for it. Can these colossi overcome the shadow of Qan[T] looming over them? Let’s find out!

Last week we got 2,700 Haro Chips, and here’s how:

  • 150 - Login Bonus
  • 350 - Daily Achievements
  • 350 - Event Login
  • 180 - Mission Completion
  • 170 - Arena Participation
  • 1,500 - Champion Match

Let’s set up some ground rules so you know exactly what to expect and how you should be treating this!

This is entirely my opinion, but I will do my best to justify my opinion and explain to you why I feel a certain way. If at all possible, I’ll use real numbers as well and present an objective outlook before my opinion.

Do not pull on the banner hoping for a single Part. It’s 0.2% for a single Part, which is 50x 10-pulls or 500 pulls. In terms of real money, that’s 5,400 USD.

SS is considered meta defining, S is meta, A is great, B is average, C is below average, D is considered well below average, and F is awful. Parts are compared to all other Parts as a whole and on how well they synergize with other Parts. This means a 4* and a 3* would be compared to everything as low as a 1* to as high as other 4*s.

There are some notations which aren’t immediately obvious:

An EX Skill with D/B at 21/6 CD means it has a D in Piercing, B in Power, a 21 second cooldown, and it’s available for use 6 seconds after the match starts.

All stats are at Max Value, but all EX Skills and Part Traits will be considered at Level 1 (One).

With all of that out of the way, let’s get right into the new banner and what we’re looking at this week!

This week is a normal banner, which means it will be going to Standard Gunpla Parts Capsule when the week is up.

Banner Grade: B

Summary: This banner has a 1% (3.33%) chance of drawing something above average, and a 0.2% (0.67%) chance of drawing something of great value or higher.

Most of these Parts barely reach A tier, while two of them really stand out as something I’d want to pull for. That being said, new players will be able to make use of the A tiers, but generally if you’re looking for top tier Parts, you won’t find them here. Maybe the Master Gundam Head?

I would not skip if you’re new and need Parts to fill. I would skip if you’re looking to get meta equipment or just love Qan[T]/Arche.

Prime Pool percentages are in parenthesis

Build Burning Gundam

Gunpla Build Burning Gundam

Head: C

Unfortunately, we always have to start off the Head. The highest stat here is 1,181 in Armor. That said, it naturally doesn’t function as a Head, but it does have a Part Trait that increases Buff EX Skill time up by 4% when Speed, which is...mild? That said, this Head also comes with Protag. And Close Combat, a rare and useful combination of Word Tags.

Chest: B

Hot on the heels of a below average Head, we’re presented with an average Chest! This boy comes with an above average 1,602 Armor and a very decent Awakening: Speed up 20%, M.Atk up 30% for 25s, on a CD of 90/18s. Although I don’t see much use for this given the Efreet Head just came out, it’s still paired with the same awesome Word Tags as the Head.

Arms: A

Similar to the Exia Arms in nearly every way, these come with the same stats: an above average 3,177 M.Atk. Additionally, it has a similar EX Skill, giving D/B+ on 30/8s, this time also buffing your M.Atk by 10%. Finally, it has the same Word Tags as the Head and Chest, Protag. and Close Combat.

Legs: B+

Average stats paired with the exact same EX Skill as the Arms. Exact.

Backpack: A+

As usual, average stats. Backpacks tend to not be statistically based, so let’s hop into the EX Skill. Houou Hach-Ken is a D/A 120/30s that recovers the Squad’s Armor by 30% and raises the Squad’s M.Atk by 20%. This is a very strong pairing for a hissatsu EX Skill, making this Part pretty good.

Aesthetics: B

While Build Burning looks a little generic, this does work in its favor by providing parts that work well with just about anything, and never being too offensive. It’s good if you’re going for a strong build over an aesthetic build, since its good parts are fairly flexible.

Master Gundam

Gunpla Master Gundam

Head: A

Our vampire lord comes out swinging with one of the best melee-focused purple Heads to date. Instead of Head Vulcans, we get your gunpla BARRELING towards the enemy like a bullet! B-/B on a 20/5s CD. This may very well overpower Halberd Throw, but we’ll need to see it in action to find out.

Chest: B

Similar to the Build Burning, the Chest has above average Armor, giving 1,602, and an Awakening EX Skill. The Awakening buffs your Speed and M.Atk by 20% and your M.Def by 10% for 30s. This is on a 90/18s CD.

Arms: S

Yet another direct parallel to Build Burning, offering the same stats, yet a much better EX Skill. Its hissatsu is D/A on a 120/30s CD and buffs M.Def by 20% and B.Res by 60% to the Squad.

Legs: C

Average stats. Part Trait? 10% EX Skill Piercing with Power attribute, which is actually pretty good for some niche builds. Unfortunately, this is held back by having a pile of better options in the Legs category.

Backpack: C

Once again, the stats are pretty average and forgettable. I’ve noticed weirdly high M.Def on a lot of these, but Defense isn’t that great and especially when it’s only one of the two. That said, the EX Skill reads a little funny, saying it “creates clones”, however that’s supposed to work in the game. Asides that, it gives D/B+ at 30/8s. Like the Legs, this is held back by its Part type.

Master Cloth: A-

Being the second decent Whip in the game, this mighty smiter adds 3,997 M.Atk and boosts Strong Melee CRT by 10% when In Fighter. While the Part Trait is lacking, Whips with high stats are still very vogue.

Aesthetics: S

Master out here proving his name: the Master of Darkness, Lord Dracula has arrived on the scene. He’s fashionable, looks mighty, and definitely leaves a lasting impression that works well with most parts.

AI Pilots Setsuna F. Seiei (4*) and Auel Neider (3*)

Setsuna F. Seiei and Auel Neider

Banner Grade: B

While Setsuna is very funny, his Part Trait is not very good and requires you to have Gundam Type, which is mechanically unfortunate, even if it’s very tasty. As for Auel, while Defender helps them, their stats are typical for a blue and they don’t perform well as an AI, since the Defender AI avoids guns typically.

Setsuna F. Seiei: A

Gundam here has 1,602 M.Atk as an In Fighter, making him a generally popular choice. His Part Trait gives him Buff EX Skill Effect up 4%...WHILE GUNDAM TYPE. Honestly this specimen is so perfectly crafted, even if it’s not that great. I love it.

Auel Neider: B

These names. Seriously. Anyways, “Auel” is a Defender with 889 Armor and S.Atk, making for a strange Pilot that’s decent when used by the Player, but not very good otherwise. With Technique attribute, they also raise Debuff EX Skill Effect by...1%.
