Overview

SP Super Saiyan God Goku YEL is a very interesting, uniquely designed Fighter. True to Goku's strategy in anime arc this Fighter references, this Fighter's toolkit combines the godly strength of the Super Saiyan Blue form with the tried and true Kaioken. 

Blue Goku's initial form is strong hardly notable, with standard issue Damage Buffs with low modifiers and added Damage Buffs whenever he or his foe Vanishes an Attack. Goku is by no means awful in this state, but he only truly becomes powerful when he activates the Kaioken - a timed Transformation that significantly enhances his Damage Output and completely changes his gameplan. 

Goku's mission in his enhanced Kaioken state is to abuse his upgraded Special Move Arts Card before the Form's toll becomes too great and Goku is forced to return to his standard Blue form. Because exiting the form comes with devastating drawbacks, this Fighter must be maneuvered skillfully. Though he is an unwieldy Fighter to use, intelligent players will be able to draw out the devastating power of Super Saiyan Blue Kaioken to obliterate their foes. 

Strengths

This is the Kaioken!

Once SP SSB Goku YEL enters the Kaioken Blue state, he procures permanent Buffs - +25% to Strike Damage Inflicted, +20% Sustained Damage Cut, and +30% to Ki Recovery - each enhancing his combat performance.

While these Buffs are strong, the Transformation only reaches maximum power once he activates his Extra Arts Card in this form - restoring his Ki by 40 and increasing his Kaioken multiplier, giving him access to permanent +20% Strike Damage and +30% Damage Inflicted until the form becomes too much to bear. Taken together these Buffs let Goku achieve insane Combo Damage. 

I'll Hit you With Everything I've Got!

Goku's Extra Arts Card in his Kaioken State doesn't just give him permanent Damage Buffs, it also enhances his Special Move Arts Card, transforming it into the Next Level Strike. The Next Level Strike is a deadly finisher, and luckily for Goku, he can get his hands on both a Special Move Arts Card and an Extra Arts Card very easily. 

He can acquire the latter from his Main Ability, which is active after a mere 5 Timer Counts. It also fully restores his Vanishing Gauge, putting him in prime position for a finishing blow. He can snag the former when his Transformation timer hits 20 Timer Counts, at which point he automatically draws a Special Move Arts Card, so the Next Level Strike is as decimating as it is easy to set up. 

"Hit Him Really Really Hard.....Together?"

Being a Goku variant, SP SSB Goku YEL naturally has access to a plethora of Team and Equipment options. Son Family welcomes the addition of a new Yellow Fighter, as well as God Ki and Saiyan. SP SSB Goku YEL pairs well with his Blue counterpart, SP SSB Goku BLU quite well. Both Fighters are capable of instantly restoring their Vanish Gauge and dealing dangerous amounts of Damage. 

Weaknesses

Twice As Bright, Half As Long

As devastating as his Offensive potential is while he is Transformed, he quickly becomes a liability once his Transformation is spent. He raises his own Cost of both Strike and Blast Arts Cards by a brutal +15 for 20 Timer Counts after Kaioken ends, which essentially locks him out of combat contributions for that amount of time.

Team Synergy

God Ki

SP SSB Goku YEL seems to shine the most when paired with SP SSB Goku BLU as their kits are complimentary. Both Fighters can instantly restore their Vanish Gauges and gain Offensive and Defensive Buffs throughout the battle. With the power of reliable allies, Goku can save his Transformation for when it is most necessary, closing matches out quickly when he decides to step it up. 

The Debuffs provided by SP SSR Goku Black RED turn Goku's post-Transformation Combos into death marches, crushing all on the receiving end. The ultimate partner for Kaioken Blue Goku is SP SSGSS Vegeta GRN, whose Offensive Support gives Goku the freedom to crush anyone who switches into Vegeta's own deadly Combos. 

Son Family

SP SSB Goku YEL is far less powerful than the optimal YEL Son Family option, that being SP SSJ Gohan YEL, the cyan Saiyan possesses some traits that can justify his usage over his son. For one, SP SSB Goku YEL’s Z-ability’s significant Buff to Strike Damage increases his viability on Saiyan-based Son Family variants, synergizing well with heavy hitters like SP Goku GRN and SP Angry Goku BLU.

Due to Son Family’s late-game focused playstyle, players using SP SSB Goku YEL on the Tag are incentivized to activate the Kaioken as early as possible, letting him deal heavy damage early in the match and enable Son Family’s roster of Crisis Fighters when he inevitably powers down. 

Saiyan

Thanks to Goku's Saiyan-Buffing Z-Ability, he can work in Saiyan Compositions alongside other Goku Variants like SP Angry Goku BLU, SP Goku GRN, SP SSJ3 Goku GRN, or SP GT Goku RED

He can synergize with the Defensive and Offensive powerhouse HE Shallot LGT, providing Special Move Arts for him if Shallot's Special Move warrants the special treatment.
