Meta Shift: Goku, Piccolo, & Raditz

Overview

The new Update is here and it’s massive, especially regarding the Banners. Two different Step Ups were released, which has already happened before during big celebrations, but not in the same way. In fact, these banners are completely different from one another, featuring even different new LFs.

This part of the Meta Shift will focus on the “Legends Beginning of Z” Banner, representing the very first Fight of Dragon Ball Z, namely Piccolo & Goku vs Raditz. The Teams improving from this specific Banner are Saiyan and sigh… Regeneration, a Tag that has been getting an endless amount of good releases recently .

Effects On The Meta

Saiyan

On this specific Banner, Saiyan gets SP Saiyan Saga Goku BLU and SP Raditz GRN as new Fighters.

Starting with the former, he’s specifically what this Tag needed, since he’s a Top Tier Support that offers permanent Damage Buffs to the Team, mass Healing, sub count reduction and does very high Damage by himself. Replacing SP Angry Goku BLU on the Team would be a tough task for anybody, but this new SP Saiyan Saga Goku BLU makes a pretty serious case, all things considered.

Generally, ignoring the meaningless 1:1 comparison between the two Fighters, Saiyan is a Team full of heavy hitters, it could even be said it has too many. For this reason, the new SP Saiyan Saga Goku BLU works well as a Fighter that does multiple things greatly, in a Tag that has generally been one-dimensional.

Even if you want to make a case regarding how the Team becomes worse in late game by replacing SP Angry Goku BLU, SP Saiyan Saga Goku BLU’s permanent Buffs are so high they make basically any Fighter a decent Last Man Standing at the very least.

Regarding SP Raditz GRN, he’s pretty underwhelming for the most part, due to only having situational Boosts that aren’t even that high. If anything, he has a good Z-Ability.

Regeneration

Ugh, I feel like I’ve talked about this Team in at least 4 Meta Shifts in the past few months, but here we are again. To recap a bit, Regeneration has gone from being plain bad to straight up godly in the span of two months, a state of domination that has started when SP Android #21 PUR got released, but originally SP Super Baby 2 BLU already gave a tease of what could’ve happened.

So, after a Zenkai Boost, powerful units from Step Up Banners and UST, they finally got their LF and what a great one!  SP Piccolo YEL is mainly a Durable Fighter that will eat up your Damage, but his Special Move Boost, permanent Damage Buffs, Arts Draw Speed and Ki Cost Reduction make him a quite dangerous Offensively as well. If you compare him to SP Majin Buu: Good GRN for example, he’s less Durable but far better Offensively. His best asset is being able to draw his Special Move through his Extra Move, which also happens to make it as strong as an Ultimate Move.

Overall, while SP Piccolo YEL is a fantastic Fighter, it’s not like he’s leagues ahead compared to other Regeneration Fighters, but him being a Yellow Tank is quite useful considering how many Purple Fighters there are.

Regeneration already was the best Team by quite a margin and this new release stretched the gap even further. However, a question arises: How many people have been blessed enough to pull all the Fighters needed for the Dream Regen Team, considering they’ve all been released in the period of three months? The count is probably not high.

Rank That Banner

This is one of the two Step Ups available and while the two of them feature completely different Fighters, they’re tied by destiny --Tags--. In fact, if you want to make a full Saiyan Team, you really need to pull on both this and the other Step Up to get SP Saiyan Saga Goku BLU and SP Bardock RED, which is a tough situation indeed.

If you’re a Regeneration Main and you want SP Piccolo YEL, there is also bad news, because pulling solely for a LF Fighter is like asking for disappointment.

Lastly, the Fillers on this banner are absolutely atrocious.

All in all, does this Banner have any winners? Kind of, because If you want to Boost both Saiyan and Regeneration for your box, this Banner isn’t bad, but not that good either considering the points previously made.
