Meta Shift: Androids Showdown

Overview

The new UST#13 Banner covers the “Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13” movie. While a variant of Android 13 isn’t on the Banner -- which means we can expect him to be released in the imminent future, maybe in a Legends Rising Banner--, the other featured Fighters are quite interesting and change the state of some Teams in the Meta.

Effects on the Meta

The new Fighters affect some Teams that already had a rise in power in the Anniversary Events.

Android

Androids are starting to look like the real deal again. The Buff SP Android #17 PUR received in the Character Balance Changes #4 already made the Team solid, however they were still lacking a consistent Damage option to pair up with SP Perfect Cell YEL.

While it still doesn’t fix their lack of Red and Blue Fighters, SP Android #14 GRN’s Strike Damage potential is very high and makes the Team considerably better overall, since he’s a straight up upgrade compared to EX Android #17.

SP Android #15 PUR has some decent Supportive Abilities, however they are not good enough to make him a better Purple Fighter than SP Android #17 PUR. His Z-Ability is great, but Androids already had plenty of options in that regard.

Vegeta Family

Thanks to the release of SP Vegeta BLU, this Tag is now viable in PVP. While there aren’t many Z-Abilities Buffing this Tag specifically, its bench can still be filled by Saiyan Z-Abilities, which is possible at the moment because the optimal Vegeta Family Core is entirely formed by Vegeta at the moment.

SP SSB Vegeta PUR and SP Vegeta BLU have the means to completely annihilate the opponent, especially the former thanks to his lock-in Unique Ability. SP Vegeta BLU currently has the highest Strike Attack in the game when Transformed, and his “Proud Prince” fully takes advantage of that by increasing his Strike Damage by a total of 50% for 10 timer counts. His Blast Damage output is a liability, however this is not a problem since this Team’s Deck is almost entirely composed by Strike Cards.

However, Blast Cards are usually the best way to initiate a Combo, so this Team’s total focus on Strike Cards can be bothersome at times.

Sagas Warriors

The new Fighters all have the Sagas Warriors Tag, but none of them Buffs it through their Z-Abilities. Additionally, the Androids’ Unique Abilities synergize poorly with other Sagas Warriors Fighters. SP Vegeta BLU doesn’t share the same problem, but SP Gogeta BLU already fills his spot on the Team color wise.

Saiyan

SP SSJ Cabba GRN got another toy to play with in SP Vegeta BLU, however this kind of Team Build is still niche, this time more than ever since it’s essentially a weaker version than Vegeta Family. In fact, despite SP SSJ Cabba GRN’s Strike Damage Boost to Vegeta, the former is too outdated nowadays to reliably fulfill his role in PVP

Super Saiyan

SP Vegeta BLU is very strong, but just like for Sagas Warrior, SP Gogeta BLU pushes him out of the core since they share the same color.

Should You Pull?

Pulling is generally not the best choice on UST Banners, considering that its featured Fighters are often weaker than Legends Rising’s Fighters, and that we’re going to get two guaranteed SP chances to get them. You might consider doing some pulls if you really like Androids, but that’s it.
