Overview
Gauld debuts alongside Lazry as Water’s fifth Frostbite user. Unlike the Lances that came before him, Gauld focuses purely on damage with a kit centered around Frostbite and self-buffs. However, Gauld simply doesn’t bring anything new to the table. On paper, he styles himself as an offensive powerhouse but is simply outclassed by Xainfried or really any other Frostbite user. To further salt the wound, Stun immunity is for naught during High Brunhilda’s Trial, leaving this Lancer (Pickaxer?) without a home.Â
Strengths
High Frostbite UptimeÂ
Like his showcase partner Lazry, Gauld can easily doublecast Frostbite from his primary skill. This gives greater value to the two instances of Frostbitten Punisher in his kit.
Weaknesses
No Burn ImmunityÂ
A complete lack of Burn Res disqualifies him from High Brunhilda’s Trials, especially when four other Frostbite users sport Burn immunity. Â
HP GatedÂ
His 10% STR passive is HP conditional, although Lance range accords him reasonable safety.
Dragon Recommendations
Siren complements Gauld's Skill 1 doublecasting playstyle well.
Dragonyule Jeanne's Crit Rate meshes well with Lances' high attack speed.
Leviathan grants a heft 60% boost to raw STR and offers Bog for further utility.
Vodyanoy is an accessible STR alternative.Â
