What 3* or 4* is worth promoting?

Hey guys.

So in my quest to get anything decent on the new banner, I got a shit ton of useless Wyrmprints and 2 5* Wyrmprints to break my pity rate, and those were dupes (Tough Love).

So to brush off this salt, I need water, Eldwater in fact. I need to promote SOMETHING so I can feel like I have something new. I got enough Eldwater to promote something from 3* to 5*, so what are good options?

I like Malora cuz reasons, but how good is she actually? I have no way to tell, other than Curse Res being niche. Help me with some suggestions please! I also have Cibella and she looks strong, but I already invested in Elisanne. I don't know what's decent, basically.

Below is a link to my box of 3* characters. I also got some 4* I could promote, like Aeleen or Berserker.

If you want my honest opinion? Do a few test runs with the characters that catch your eye and see if you like how they play. For example, I really, really love Erik - he’s a good shadow user with a powerful attack that only gets better and better with more investment. However, if you don’t like how axe users fight, you may find him a bit lacking.

My biases say “use Erik, Malka and Berserker”, but that’s because I’m emotionally attached to those characters and I’ve made them into the most powerful characters I have. However, the best advice I can give is just giving the characters you like a shot and if you like how they work, put the investment in.

EDIT: keep in mind group bonuses like +5% Health on Malka do not improve upon promoting, that percentage stays the same through promotion.

Thanks for your post! Do normal abilities improve upon promoting or not? I use Berserker but only as teammate. The others you mentioned I don't have.

I believe they do? But I’d have to double check.

(And actually, you do have Malka and Erik - Malka is a light lancer who has purple hair and makes his living as an armor smith, Erik is the barbarian looking man who talks like a noble)

And while I’m at it, I’ll recommend a good healer too - Aurien, the fire healer who is also a gambler. (You also have him) His second attack is a fire AOE that knocks away foes when they surround him, so he can save himself if he gets ganged up on by foes.

Oh lol I do have em. Guess I'll try them out then, thanks! Isn't Aurien worse than Verica though?

If that's the case, I don't know - I never pulled Verica, since the only natural four stars I have are Orion, the story given characters, Berserker and Karina. I have had garbage luck with characters lol, but I like Aurien's outfit and his mysteriously flirty character, so he stuck.

First and foremost, this game is not all about stats. As such, even if the said adventurer has mediocre stats, you can compensate it by playing well. And vice versa, you can't compensate being a bad player by having high Might (you still gonna get bodied).
I think you have some decent options to start with.

3*
- Cibella
One of the best 3* in the game. Solid skill, solid abilities. Cibella can last for a long while, as there is no comparable 4* or higher unit.
There are quite a few people maining Cibella on reddit afaik

- Malorra
Early Broken Punisher access is really good (and rare). Aside from that there is not much to say abt her. She is more of a welfare unit easily replaceable.

- Estelle
Comparable to (worse than) Verica and (slightly worse than) Ricardt.
But unlike both of them, she is a light typing meaning she does not have any weaknesses and strong vs dark type. As a healer, she will far outperform buffer-healer type like Cleo or Thaniel.

4*
- Ryozen
Extremely high HP, as well as amazing skill and ability synergy (auto HP regen). Dude is a walking tank

- Orion
Truly shines when you unlock his Skill Prep 50% skill (which is on the last tier of the mana circle, so will take a LONG while to get there).
Blind can be really useful against the likes of Dragons and Onslaught boss. His base damage is not the best, but he compensate it with critical rate instead (not very reliable tho).

- Berserker
Great potential especially in a dungeon with a lot of mobs (ex: Imperial Onslaught). The playstyle of a Berserker is comparable to the one of Xander, as such, playing this unit effectively requires high skill cap on the player side.

Promoting unit is a huge investment. Try to play with some of them and see which playstyle you like best. No reason to invest and play with a unit you're not comfortable with.

There might be other 3* units that i overlook.
Have fun with the game my dude ;)

Thanks for this great write-up. Do you know anything about Aeleen? I also got Berserker but I'm terrible at Force Strikes lol. I also got Ryozen but who wants to promote a grandpa with precious Eldwater, amirite?

Aeleen is basically Elisanne with better stats, and from the current raid event, we know that even on expert difficulty Eli can contribute just fine. As such, i think Aeleen is definitely usable.

Slayer's strength is a really good ability to have.
Her defense buffs can benefit other units with Doublebuffs ability (a lot of unit have doublebuffs ability, but no self defense buff skill. The only exception to this is grandpa Ryozen lol)

Generally people promote a lower rarity unit to fill in specific niche (ex Cibella). I think Aeleen is sort of an all rounder unit. Not amazing, but not bad

I overlook Francesca, another decent 3*
Dagger user + Force Strike 30% skill is really good. This is mainly because you can chain force attack easily into dagger combo (tap-hold the screen during the flip animation). Dagger also has faster attack rate, so you can easily slip in 2-3 force attacks in a long combo attacks.
