Builds

"Oh, You'll Fight in the Shade All Right"

If you're bringing Celeste to PvP, the goal is to keep the enemy team slowed with as many Volleys as possible. In principle it sounds identical to what Celeste does in PvE, but in execution it means you need to build her completely differently. Focus on building Spd and Effectiveness first and foremost, so that she can go first and has the best possible chance to land her CR reduction.

From there, build her based on what heroes will be entering the Arena at her side. If you have big, slow damage dealers waiting in the wings like Ludwig, Clarissa, or Blood Blade Karin, then Celeste can probably dedicate the rest of her gear to damage, since the battle should be over in a turn or two anyway. If you're going for a slower, war-of-attrition kind of strategy with heroes like Angelica and Purrgis, then bulk up her HP and Def so she can stick around for a few turns instead.

A surprisingly strong Artifact for a PvP Celeste is Cursed Compass, which is a huge boost in Effectiveness to that crucial first-turn Volley's CR reduction. Because Celeste is mostly here to be a utility unit, she can also hold team-boosting Artifacts like Midnight Bloom or Spooky Solayu Stories if your strategy requires them.

Death From Above

If you're building Celeste to farm waves of monsters for experience, you're going to want to build just enough Spd that she goes first against the mobs you're farming, then focus on boosting her damage as much as possible. She won't really need Effectiveness, since her Hit debuff and CR reduction aren't important for farming. Prioritize Atk, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage instead.

Celeste's preferred artifacts are Reingar's Special Drink or Otherworldly Machinery, both of which boost her AOE damage. However, both are quite difficult to get ahold of, so you might instead consider Exorcist's Tonfa or Mighty Yaksha. Exorcist's Tonfa helps Celeste to one-shot waves of full-health mobs, and Mighty Yaksha should be active at all times considering her playstyle. (Grail of Blood can also help if your Celeste is having trouble staying at high enough health to spam Volley.)

A final note: if using Celeste as a farmer, it's wise to switch her Devotion Aura to "Concentration" with an Ego Fragment, so she gives herself bonus Atk instead of giving bonus Spd to all the low-level characters she's carrying.

Analysis

Overview

Considering her modest design and her no-frills kit, a lot of people probably pass up Celeste in favor of flashier heroes. You should think twice before you do the same, however. With blazing speed, self-sustain, team utility, and an S2 that can be spammed infinitely under the right conditions, Celeste is one of the best budget farmers in Epic Seven -- surpassed only by relative newcomer Lena -- and boasts strong Combat Readiness control for PvP in the bargain.

Strengths

Speed

Celeste is the second-fastest character in the game. Her killer 128 base Spd is only exacerbated by her Devotion Aura, which grants Spd to the entire party, and her S2, which reduces enemy CR (more on that in a moment). Toss her a good pair of boots and you'll be hard-pressed to find enemies who can outrun her.

Her S2, Volley

Volley is singlehandedly what makes Celeste viable in Epic Seven. It's an AOE attack (which makes it good for PvE farming) that reduces enemy CR (which makes it good for PvP). However, the key point here is that the skill does not go on cooldown if Celeste has over 80% of her health. This pushes Volley from "unimpressive" to "kit-defining." As long as she remains above 80% health, Celeste can rain death on her enemies from now until the (next) end of the world, with each Volley making it that much harder for them to take action against her.

Self-Sustain

If an enemy gets through Celeste's arrows and brings her below 80% HP, don't worry; she's got her S3, which recovers 30% of her health. Her S3 also grants her an extra turn, allowing her to immediately get in at least one more Volley before the enemy can take advantage of the opening.

Weaknesses

Choose One: Speed or Power

Celeste's abilities work together like the cogs of a well-oiled machine, but they don't actually pack much of a punch. If you want to use her for PvE farming, you probably want to stack Atk on her so she can farm the highest-level content possible. However, to use her in PvP, you're going to need lots of additional Spd to make sure she goes first. It's very difficult to build both areas enough that she can handle both situations, which puts a limit on her otherwise impressive versatility.

Low ST Damage

Celeste is great at farming, but she's great at farming small fry, not huge boss targets. Her AOE damage is high due to how spammable her S2 is, but her single-target damage is lackluster at best. She performs better if she can get the Atk buff from her S3 up and running, but since the buff is tied to her heal, you need to be careful about using it recklessly.
