Bellona has come to Reingar to help Karin and the Public Security Club cope with the influx of summer visitors. Although she claims she's here to watch over Sez, it seems her true goal is to relax in the resort.

Builds

Blue Motorcycle

This build uses the Speed set to ensure that SS Bellona’s debuffs are constantly up. It makes use of Rosa Hargana/Daydream Joker to either inflict additional Target procs (for multiple enemies) or juicy max HP% damage. The crit set will help with the crit rate so that her S3 will always receive the 20% bonus.

Team

Core

Seaside Bellona has good synergy with most damage dealers, as she can provide two damage-increasing debuffs. Since her DEF break is somewhat chancey, you will want to use her with another, more reliable DEF breaker. Good combinations may involve Furious or even Requiemroar, etc., for added utility. SS Bellona doesn’t deal as much damage as her regular version, but she makes up for it in terms of utility. Because of the sheer amount of debuffs that she can output, an exploiter like Sigret is also a good choice; she can do massive damage when the enemy has 3-4 debuffs. A decent team to have around her would be something like: Achates/Cidd/Crozet, with a healer, another DEF breaker, and a tank.

Talk to the Fan

This build drops all Speed in favor of highly-damaging counterattacks, and is probably most useful in PvP, where SS Bellona is almost guaranteed procs of her passive. In addition, the limited Artifact ‘Reingar’s Special Drink’ plays a key role in her damage dealt, as it acts as a flat damage increase on her somewhat-weak counterattack. The high ATK value from the ATK set will also contribute to the damage dealt by Reingar’s Special Drink. Immunity or high HP are favored so SS Bellona can pump out as many counterattacks as possible.

Team

Core

SS Bellona fits very well into a bruiser team composition, with her ability to spread damage evenly across the team. While she doesn’t benefit from Aurius’ damage transfer, her teammates still do, and her passive can definitely save her from dangerous damage spikes. Good teammates include Crozet, who has an automatic emergency Shield, any tank with a dangerous S1 and Elbris Ritual Sword, and healers who can deal with the AoE damage that you’ll expect to take. A decent example would be: SS Bellona/Crimson Armin/Purrgis/Angelica.

Analysis

Overview

Seaside Bellona is a strong debuffing Hero with an innate damage transfer mechanic and the only Unbuffable/Unhealable. Additionally, she has an AoE 50% DEF break counterattack that can proc multiple times before her turn. Her high number of debuffs and the ability to inflict Target with her S1 make her an ideal candidate for Wyvern, whose triple fireball breath will proc her counterattack nearly every turn.

Strengths

Unique AoE Unhealable/Unbuffable

SS Bellona has the only AoE Unhealable/Unbuffable skill in the game. It is very effective when dealing with overly tanky and regenerating enemies. Despite its low skill modifier of 1, it deals 20% bonus damage on a critical hit. If built normally with 100% crit, this makes the skill deal average damage.

Counterattack Charges Per Ally Hit

SS Bellona’s most unique and useful skill is her ability to unleash an AoE counterattack every time her teammates have been hit 5 times. This charges whenever ANY teammate is attacked, so attacks that strike her entire team will charge it by 4 stages! While the counterattack damage itself is rather low, it does hit in an AoE and has a 50% chance to inflict DEF break on any target struck. Due to this skill, SS Bellona can be extremely effective even if built as a bruiser with low Speed, since the skill charges regardless of her actions. Do note that, unlike her normal form, her S2 does not proc on her attacks and will only activate when an enemy attacks.

Strong Survival Mechanic

SS Bellona’s passive transfers 30% of the damage taken to the FRONTLINE Hero. This is like Aurius, but is better because it has synergy with Aurius. Using this, you can spread damage around the team instead of just onto the Aurius holder, making it quite valuable.

Rare Target Debuff on S1

As one of the only ways to increase enemy damage taken, Target is a very valuable debuff to bring to any content where damage NOW is a must. It stacks with all other sources of damage up and acts as a multiplier to your final damage, which is very useful. Combined with Rosa Hargana, SS Bellona can easily paint her Targets for the team to nuke.

Weaknesses

Weak to Immunity Set

Ironically, while SS Bellona can inflict Unbuffable/Unhealable, she herself cannot dispel enemies. Therefore, the Immunity buff, whether from the set bonus or from enemy skills, is a great hindrance. You'll want to bring along a stripper if you want to make full use of her on her first turn. Also beware of full cleanses, such as Destina/Achates, or the rarer Kitty Clarissa/Dingo.

Song of Stars Replaces Her S1

Unfortunately, while a rare debuff, Target is also available to other rangers via the artifact, Song of Stars. Seaside Bellona faces stiff competition in her primary PvE role - Wyvern debuffer - from new arrival Furious, whose 2-turn DEF break more than matches her own. If he has Song of Stars, you might as well skip bringing SS Bellona, because he can do it more reliably. Also, he's free.

Tank Takes More Damage; Unique Doesn’t Stack with Aurius

There's no such thing as a free lunch, and where SS Bellona is concerned, this is also true. The frontline hero will take 30% of the damage that she was meant to take, and when paired with Aurius, the tank can end up taking a frightening amount of damage. It is therefore recommended to split up the damage or have Aurius on another Knight to spread the damage around.

Unreliable DEF Break

Lastly, SS Bellona’’s DEF Break coverage is subpar. With a crapshoot 50% chance for DEF Break, the proc will often not occur when most needed. Without another DEF breaker, SS Bellona will face spotty coverage, which can be a very bad thing, especially for Wyvern’s shield phases. It is therefore recommended to use her with another DEF breaker.
