Builds

Ice Shield

This build focuses on cycling Dominiel's cooldowns as quickly as possible through the use of cooldown-reduction Artifacts. A constant stream of Speed Breaks, Stuns, and barriers makes your team much more difficult to take down.

Gear

This Dominiel relies on having a Speed set and lots of Speed substats on her gear in order to get as many turns as possible. Combine this with Effectiveness and a Hit set (for ailment accuracy) and Atk% substats (to increase her damage and also the power of her barriers).

For her last substat, try to get Dominiel some HP%. Dominiel's HP isn't that high, but her Defense is, so increasing her HP makes her exponentially tankier. Also, Dominiel's maximum HP determines the amount of damage that can be bounced back with her Reflect buff.

Artifacts

This Dominiel build really wants either Etica's Scepter or Spirit's Breath in order to reliably lower her cooldowns throughout a battle. Time Matter is not really preferable, since it relies on enemies dying and this version of Dominiel is playing more of a stall game. It can work pretty well if you're bringing Dominiel to a PvE boss who summons multiple minions, though.

If you don't have Etica's Scepter or Spirit's Breath, you can consider one of the other Mage Artifacts that benefits Dominiel's kit. Abyssal Crown gives her an extra Stun chance, Dignus Orb makes her much more survivable, and Iela Violin gives her extra utility by allowing her to strip buffs off her enemies. Dominiel may also be tasked with carrying Tagehel's Ancient Book so your DPS heroes can get in a crucial Soulburn.

There's also the budget option of Prophetic Candlestick, but Dominiel doesn't really want to be a team's main tank, making it an unreliable option that might get her killed.

Freeze!

This is a much simpler build that only cares about one thing: getting off Dominiel's S3 right at the start of battle and Stunning as many enemies as possible. It's simple and, as long as your enemies don't have Immunity, it's effective. (Tip: bring a buff dispeller like Basar, Hurado, or Alencia to clear the way for Dominiel's Stun.)

Gear

Only Speed and Effectiveness matter. The rest of Dominiel's substats can go to Atk%, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage so she can squeeze out a little more damage while she Stuns. After you use her S3, don't use her S2 but instead switch to her S1 so you can start Speed Breaking enemies and slowing their next turns. The goal is not to let them attack at all, making her barrier unnecessary.

Artifacts

Cursed Compass is the best Artifact for this build as long as you have a buff dispeller who can take care of Immunity. Another surprisingly good choice is Oath Key, which reduces Dominiel's chance of missing against Earth heroes, mitigating the elemental disadvantage she would otherwise struggle with.

If you feel like being fancy instead, you can go with a Mage-specific option like Abyssal Crown (more Stuns), Necro & Undine (faster turn recovery after using her S3), or Sira-Ren (extra debuffs).

Analysis

Overview

Part DPS, part debuffer, and part support, Dominiel unfortunately falls a little too much into the "jack of all trades, master of none" category. In particular, she is outshone by her Moonlight counterpart, Challenger Dominiel, who is much more powerful and (ironically) more versatile. However, Dominiel does have some uses, especially in PvP, where the high Stun chance on her S3 and the unique Reflect buff on her S2 can create some winning situations.

Strengths

AOE Stun + CR-Pushback

No hero with a high-accuracy AOE Stun can be totally bad. After Skill Enhancement, Dominiel has a 90% chance to Stun the entire enemy team, and she also has a chance to decrease their Combat Readiness at the same time, prolonging the effect of their Stun.

Unique Reflect Buff

Though it uses the same Reflect mechanic as Taranor Royal Guard, Dominiel's S2 places a unique Reflect buff on all allies. The buff reflects 30% of damage that is dealt to the Reflected hero back onto enemies who dealt it. The damage dealt cannot exceed the maximum HP of the caster (so, in this case, Dominiel). However, it can still be a nasty surprise for enemies.

Good Base Stats

Dominiel is fairly quick, especially for a Mage, and she also has high Defense, helping her to tank hits that would spatter squishier Mages like Carrot or Mistychain. Her Attack and HP, while not high, are also fairly respectable, giving her a nice, even stat spread.

Weaknesses

Lacks Focus

Dominiel doesn't really have one crippling weakness, but she doesn't really have anything that really makes her stand out either. There are other heroes with AOE Stuns who bring much more DPS (Aramintha) or utility (Leo), and just about any other Mage has either more DPS or utility than she does as well. Her Reflect buff is interesting, but never necessary outside of extreme gimmick builds. By standing right on the line between DPS and support, Dominiel unfortunately fails to stand out in either role.
