At best, a free spirit, at worst, an irresponsible hedonist. Shooting Star Achates finds a life without stimulus meaningless, and is always on the lookout for trouble.

No Regrets! Shooting Star!

Shooting Star Achates has very rigid build requirements. She has to stay alive and she has to counter her rock-bottom Spd, and nothing else matters. As such, she needs to focus on Speed, HP%, Def%, and Effect Resistance, in that order. Getting some Effectiveness on her so she can land her Hit chance debuff might sound nice too, but she can't afford the room on her gear. Prioritize speed and survivability above all else.

Many Soul Weaver Artifacts aren't quite ideal for Shooting Star Achates, simply because she has to be really picky about when she uses her S2 and S3 if she wants to get full benefit out of them. She's a less-than-ideal choice for Magaraha's Tome, Shimadra's Staff, or Rod of Amaryllis for this reason.

When it comes to Artifacts for Shooting Star Achates, Water's Origin is one of the better options, as it hits the key points of "speed and survivability" that she needs to satisfy. If you don't have Water's Origin, you can make do by reducing her cooldowns with a Prophetic Candlestick instead, or you can use her Artifact slot to help out the team with utility from Idol's Cheer, Celestine, or Wondrous Potion Vial.

It's a tossup whether you'd prefer to use an Ego Fragment on her or not. Her Devotion Aura is Effect Resistance for the team, which is nice since Shooting Star Achates has no cleanse and is hard-countered by Unbuffable, but her Concentration effect increases her own HP, making her more survivable. Either can be useful, depending on your team composition.

Team

Core

If built for pure survivability, Shooting Star Achates can tank attacks at the front of the party fairly well, feeding into her Water's Origin to help her get more turns. Lots also helps accelerate her turn speed while also covering the party with continuous healing; give him a Wondrous Potion Vial so he can cleanse debuffs, just in case.

For the DPS, Seaside Bellona is a strong anti-cleave team, punishing enemies who prey on Shooting Star Achates' weakness to AOE damage. Blood Blade Karin, meanwhile, gets stronger at lower HP and can also heal herself with her S1, pulling herself back from the brink of death. Pop Immortality on her once she's low on HP and she can probably wipe the entire enemy team in one strike.

Analysis

Overview

"Showtime!" Shooting Star Achates is renowned for her ability to apply the coveted Immortal buff to her allies, making her the only hero in Epic Seven who can grant Immortal to other heroes than herself. However, that's not the only trick she's got up her showy sleeves. She can also revive fallen allies and has an entirely unique S3 healing mechanic that not only has the potential to full-heal an ally but is unaffected by the Unhealable debuff -- a common counter for Soul Weavers.

Strengths

Revival

Being able to revive a fallen ally is a big deal, especially in PvP. As long as Shooting Star Achates is alive, she can keep bringing back her allies over and over again. Especially since her revival comes tied to her Immortality buff, Shooting Star Achates can make her allies very difficult to put down.

Targetable Immortality

Immortality is the ultimate tanking status, allowing even the weakest hero to take an infinite amount of punishment for the rest of the team and shrug it off unhindered. If you're clever with manipulating enemy A.I., you can abuse Shooting Star Achates' Immortality to great effect in Arena and Guild Wars.

Naturally Durable

Shooting Star Achates has high base HP and one of the highest base Def stats in Epic Seven. Since she needs to stay alive to keep reviving her allies and making them Immortal, this is a big plus.

S3 Healing Ignores Unhealable

Shooting Star Achates' S3 is very complicated. Here's how it works:

  1. It compares the targeted ally's current HP to Shooting Star Achates' current HP.
  2. Between the two heroes, whoever has the lower current HP is healed until their current HP is the same as the other hero's.
  3. Afterward, both the target and Shooting Star Achates receive a further heal on top of that. This heal is a percentage heal based on each hero's maximum HP (not their current HP this time).

This skill can output a lot of healing very quickly, and perhaps even more importantly, it can't be blocked by Unhealable. This helps a lot against common Unhealable opponents in Arena like Seaside Bellona, Lidica, or Aramintha.

Weaknesses

Unreliable Healing

Shooting Star Achates CAN output a lot of healing with her S3 if either she or her target is at high HP when she uses it. However, if she is already at low HP, she has very limited ability to save an injured ally. She can revive them once they die, but it's always better not to die in the first place.

Countered by Unbuffable/ Extinction

Just because she can ignore Unhealable doesn't mean Shooting Star Achates has no counters. Since Shooting Star Achates has no damage potential and her healing is so conditional, most of her value is in her buffs and her revival mechanic. This means that buff strippers, heroes with Unbuffable, or heroes with Extinction are hard counters to her. (Lilibet in particular is a nightmare for Shooting Star Achates, although she is fortunately a rarity in PvP.)

Weak to AOE Damage

All of Shooting Star Achates' buffs are single-target, and her S3's healing only affects her and one other ally. As such, when faced with a powerful cleave team full of AOE damage, Shooting Star Achates will usually be overwhelmed and unable to save the day on her own.

Slow, With Long Cooldowns

Shooting Star Achates is one of the very slowest heroes in the Epic Seven, and she has long cooldowns to boot, even after Skill Enhancement. This makes it hard for her to react to dangerous situations and means that you need to make sure every use of her S2 and S3 counts.
