PvE
Charlotte's unparalleled AOE makes her a perfect choice for Golem 11, Azimanak 11, several floors of Abyss, the Automaton Tower, and most of the Azmakalis Raid bosses, as well as some other random places like the Fire Spirit Altar or Unrecorded History stages.
Gear
It can be tempting to build Effectiveness on Charlotte in hopes of utilizing her Defense Break or her AOE Stun. However, the activation chances on these skills are just too low to make it worthwhile. In 99% of cases, Charlotte is going to be better off building damage, damage, and more damage (with a side order of "even more damage" to wash it down). Build Charlotte with Atk%, Crit Chance, Crit Damage, and Spd substats, focusing entirely on being able to spam her S3 to the fullest.
Charlotte's best gear sets are going to be very different based on what allies she's working with:
- Rage/ Crit: This is probably Charlotte's best DPS set if you're good at micromanaging your Souls and debuffs. Charlotte takes time to wind up her damage anyway, so if you can use that time to also set up some ailments on your enemies, a Rage set really lets Charlotte clean house. Avoid this set if you don't have reliable debuff coverage.
- Destruction/ Crit: This is Charlotte's best "general purpose" set for maximizing her DPS. Run this set if Charlotte has a strong tank and healer around who can take care of her, but isn't going to be getting ailment support.
- Counter/ Crit: Run this set if your Charlotte is too slow to build Focus and you don't have good CR push (or if you're putting Charlotte in the front for some reason, perhaps backed by a strong buffer like Diene). Charlotte loves getting more counterattacks. Avoid this set if you have another Knight, especially one who can Provoke, as Charlotte won't get targeted enough for it to matter.
- Lifesteal/ Crit: Run this set if you don't have a lot of healing in your team, as it makes Charlotte almost entirely self-sufficient. This set can also be good if you're using Charlotte as your farmer or dogwalker, since it helps her buy the time she needs to build her Focus for her S3. Avoid it for endgame content like Raids or Hunts, since you'll need a dedicated healer anyway and Charlotte would be more useful with more damage potential.
Artifacts
By far Charlotte's favorite Artifact is Elbris Ritual Sword, which allows her to counterattack when her allies get attacked. Each counterattack she gets off helps her build Focus faster and refresh her Atk buff/ Defense Break, to great effect.
If you don't have Elbris Ritual Sword, Charlotte is also one of the few good users of the Hilag Lance. This Artifact works on her for the same reasons as Elbris: it punishes the enemy's attacks by giving Charlotte more actions.

Team

This is basically Charlotte's dream team. Ken has Defense Break and Mascot Hazel has an AOE Atk buff, removing the pressure for Charlotte to activate her S1's different effects. Dingo really helps Charlotte here, since he causes Bleed and Burn to trigger a Rage set on her; builds a lot of Souls for her to burn on her S3; and also reduces the cooldown on her S3 with his own S3, helping her be even spammier than she already was.
This is a perfect comp for taking out Golem 11, since Mascot Hazel has Unhealable. It's not so great for Azimanak 11, though, since it has too many buffs and debuffs (and no buff dispel).

This is a more Azimanak-friendly composition, as it does not have a lot of buffs or debuffs to trigger Azimanak's counters. Lilias and Tamarinne both pull in their allies for Dual Attacks, helping Tamarinne to run down her cooldowns and Charlotte to build her Focus. Tamarinne can also dispel Azimanak's Berserk buff, which is absolutely vital.
Meanwhile, Blood Blade Karin and Charlotte have an easy time keeping Azimanak's eggs under control with their AOE, at which point they are free to gang up on Azimanak at their leisure.

Analysis
Overview
Charlotte has accumulated a lot of hate over the years from players who see her Knight role, think she can be a main tank, and then watch her die on them repeatedly. The most important thing to remember about Charlotte is that she is not a tank: she is a DPS unit. In fact, given some time to build up her Focus, she can be one of the more devastating AOE DPS units in Epic Seven.
Strengths
Spammable AOE Damage
Charlotte's strength revolves around her S3, Vortex. After Skill Enhancement, this AOE attack has a 3-turn cooldown, and for a price of 10 Souls, it can be reduced by 2 turns. Since Charlotte can spam this skill infinitely (given enough Souls to burn), her AOE damage potential is one of the highest in the game.
AOE Stun + CR Push
In addition to her powerful S3, Charlotte has AOE damage that also Stuns on her S2. Most importantly, this skill also grants Charlotte Combat Readiness for each enemy target she Stuns. Used at the start of battle on vulnerable targets, Charlotte can rack up some free Focus, disable the enemy team, and also immediately get another turn that she can use on her S3.
Sturdier Than You Think
Charlotte isn't much of a main tank, but she's hardly a glass cannon either. She has well-rounded HP, Atk, and Def stats as well as the ability to equip protective Knight Artifacts, making her more survivable than her reputation would have you believe.
Weaknesses
Takes Time to Ramp Up
Once Charlotte has time to rack up Focus and Souls so she can spam her S3 to her heart's content, she is a force to be reckoned with. However, her preparations take time. In PvE battles, this is usually fine, since boss fights tend to take several turns anyway. However, PvP battles are usually over in the blink of an eye, long before Charlotte can become a real threat. This also hurts Charlotte's viability as a dogwalker, since she takes a while to get up to speed and the A.I. doesn't know how to Soulburn her S3.
Unreliable Utility
Charlotte has a personal Atk buff, a ST Defense Break, and an AOE Stun, which on paper sounds like absolutely broken utility for a unit with damage output as high as hers. However, her Atk buff and her Defense Break cannot be reliably triggered (they are both on her S1, but she only applies one or the other, not both) and her Stun has a very low activation chance (35% at best). This unreliability means Charlotte's team usually still needs a dedicated Atk buffer and Defense Breaker, which in turn means that a lot of Charlotte's utility actually ends up going to waste in most battles.
