Smirking Intensifies

Gear

Mascot Hazel’s heals are mainly based on the target’s Health stat. This means that she can forgo maximizing her own Health like other healers and focus on bringing her average Spd and decidedly below-average Atk up to par, since her heals are partially reliant on her Atk value. Unfortunately, as she suffers from one of the lowest Atk values in the game, she will need a lot of flat Atk substats to help bring her healing up to par. (At least her Atk buff can help her out with this.)

The build shown below provides the Spd and flat Atk necessary to heal a team and provide consistent buff uptime, while also maintaining a small amount of the Effectiveness needed to land her rare Unhealable debuff on the enemy.

Artifacts

You may want Magaraha’s Tome for significantly faster turn cycling (given her VERY short cooldown on S2) or Shimadra Staff. Both of these Artifacts improve her overall healing by a significant amount, one through faster turns and the other through raw healing bonuses.

As Mascot Hazel does not have a debuff cleanse in her kit, you can also opt for Wondrous Potion Vial.

Team

Core

Mascot Hazel naturally has the best synergy with strong Fire-type Heroes and is the strongest elemental buffer in the game, going surprisingly well with Cermia despite their surface-level buff overlap (they have gaps in their Great Attack buff coverage that they can’t fill themselves.) The same goes for Aramintha, who has her own ATK buff (that will refresh the Greater buff) and Kayron (who can extend the duration of the buff), though there are certainly lower-rarity heroes who also fit that bill, such as Carmainerose.

Secondary

Another sample Fire team might be: Carmainerose, Ken, and Dingo. Ken is the most reliable Fire-element Defense Breaker, making him a great addition to any Fire-centric team. Dingo covers Mascot Hazel's weakness to debuffs by bringing his own AOE cleanse to the table. And Carmainerose is a strong budget Fire-element DPS who can refresh Mascot Hazel's Greater Atk buff on herself by using her own S3.

Just remember that only one Fire-element hero can get Mascot Hazel's Greater Atk buff at a time. Always target Mascot Hazel's S3 on whichever hero has the ability to do the most damage in the coming turn.

Analysis

Overview

After her Specialty Change, Mascot Hazel transforms into not just a cute girl but a strong support. In addition to a well-deserved smirk, she boasts the only targetable Greater Atk buff in the game with her S3 (A Girl in Uniform). Combined with the strong pinch healing on her S2, the Unhealable debuff on her S1, and the AOE regular Atk buff on her S3, she is one of the strongest F2P options for a consistent Attack buffer. This does, however, come at the cost of heavy investment.

While she is very strong for Golem 11 and other areas where you can bring an excessive number of Fire-element heroes, you may want to reconsider using her on a mixed team without at least one other Fire hero.

NOTE: Read more about how to complete Mascot Hazel's Specialty Change quest in our Specialty Change section.

Strengths

Greater Attack Buff

A Greater Atk buff gives +75% attack power, whereas a regular Atk buff gives +50%. Even better, Greater Atk Up can be refreshed by any source of regular Atk Up, such as Rose's S3 or Helga's S3.

Strong Healing Power

Mascot Hazel has access to two heals, both based on her Atk and the maximum HP of the target. Her S3 is an AOE that is good for team sustain, and her S2 is good for emergency healing on single targets who drop below 50% HP.

Passive Buffs for Fire Heroes

Once the appropriate Runes are invested in her Skill Tree, Mascot Hazel gives herself and all Fire-element allies 10% Effectiveness and Attack just for being on the field. She also gains a chance to give Fire-element allies a Continuous Healing buff with her S3 and a small CR push with her S2.

Surprisingly Beefy

For such a small girl, Mascot Hazel has been putting in a lot of time at the gym. Underneath that cutesy exterior are iron abs (HP buff from her Skill Tree) and a solid DEF stat, pushing her tankiness and HP/DEF totals near Diene.

Weaknesses

Less Effective on Non-Fire Heroes

Mascot Hazel is unfortunately not as good (though still decent) at supporting non-Fire-element Heroes. If you don’t bring along another Fire unit, you are wasting access to Greater Atk Up and all the extras in her kit, like the bonus Atk, Effectiveness, and CR.

Mediocre Speed

Even after heavy Rune investment in her Skill Tree, Mascot Hazel only has 101 speed, putting her solidly into the average speed for a Soul Weaver (who, as a group, are already quite slow).

Requires Heavy Investment

Like all other Specialty Change heroes, Mascot Hazel has not only a time-intensive Specialty Quest chain, but also requires heavy Rune investment in her Skill Tree. To maximize Mascot Hazel's power, you'll need to invest 410 Greater and 40 Epic Fire Runes. Expect to be camping the Fire Altar for quite some time.
