Corvus was originally a soldier from Rose Apostles until something caused him to lose his faith and grow disillusioned with the world, and now he only wishes for its destruction. However, he still contains a gentle side within him.

Builds

Dark Corvus - Speed

Since high HP on Dark Corvus is a must. The rest of his build can be supplemented 2 ways:

-High Speed with Crimson Seed/Timeless Anchor

OR

-High Res with Strak's Gauntlet

Either way the aim is to improve his odds against being locked down by heroes such as Dizzy or Fallen Cecilia through either self cleansing the debuff or resisting it all together. It all comes down to what each player has at their disposal to build this beefcake of a hero.

First, we'll go over the speed build, since it can be obtained from Wyvern 11 and is generally considered the most versatile hunt to farm.

The stats to aim for would look a lot like so:

HP: 24k+
Spd: 190+
Effectiveness: 50%+
Effectiveness Res: 30%+

Obviously HP should be as high as possible. Normally we would want some defense to balance out survivability. But since Dark Corvus scales ridiculously with HP %, we can forego that for as much HP as possible. If we are going to dedicate a build to speed, Dark Corvus would have 167 after speed set + speed boots, which means we would only need 4~5 speed a piece on the rest of the equipment to hit 190. To round off the build, players should definitely have a modest amount of effectiveness since Dark Corvus on high speed can effectively cycle turns and land provokes while resisting low % debuffs like Seaside Bellona's defense break. Finally, if players can get in a bit of extra Crit Chance, it can help players activate counter attacks from Martial Artist Ken, which will greatly speed up the cooldown of Dark Corvus's ultimate.

Team

Core

This would be the standard for a normal Guild War Offense for Dark Corvus. Ideally, he can be paired with a cleansing healer for sustain and safety, and "safe" DPS to pick off key targets (such as an enemy reviver), or to pepper enemies down with chip damage.

As a replacement in the Healer slot, players can choose any healers that fit the situation. Angelic Montmorancy or Destina is a solid pick into Dizzy or any team with a lot of debuffs. If there are not a lot of worrying debuffs, even Angelica would work here to provide solid damage.

A safe DPS to take with this composition would be something similar to Assassin Coli, such as Spectre Tenebria or Kise. Alternatively, players with well geared bruisers such a Seaside Bellona, Charles, Fallen Cecilia can opt for these picks which can provide nice chip damage while also being very beefy themselves.

Alternative picks instead of a DPS can be a support whether that is Dizzy to cripple the enemy's damage, or Iseria, who can reset Dark Corvus's long S3 cooldown.

This strategy can be extended to Arena but due to Arena reset crunch time, battles become very time sensitive thus a Dark Corvus comp is at a natural disadvantage since it is much slower than a cleave team.

Dark Corvus High Res

High resistance Dark Corvus is the alternative way to build Dark Corvus and is the much consistent variation of the build compared to speed Dark Corvus. Where as the speed build can be much wilder with provokes and can cycle his own cooldowns if target AI RNG doesn't roll correctly, high res Dark Corvus counts on face tanking against Defenses with Dizzy, Silver Blade Aramintha, and the likes of them, who are loaded with debuffs and count on the debuffs to succeed. Dark Corvus is especially strong against these characters since for example, Silver Blade Aramintha can cause real damage if she lands a burn stack, which then can activate her AoE attack and could lead to Abyssal Crown procs. With a high res Dark Corvus, these types of builds can be completely negated.

That being said, the stats to aim for would look something like:

HP: 24K+
Spd: 150
Res: 150%+

-HP should be as high as possible
-Players should try for 150 speed since it is a base amount to remain relevant in PvP
-Players should try to hit 200% after Strak's Gauntlet, 180% at least. But if players can hit 150% with a decent chunk of speed, that is a fine build too.

Analysis

Overview

Sporting the highest base HP in the game, the 5 Dark Warrior Dark Corvus is the bruiser that packs the hardest punch, with his ultimate, Devil’s Descent. Due to the skill scaling off of his high Health pool and completely penetrating enemy Defense, Dark Corvus is commonly run on PvP offense with a specialized team built around him to support this damage and play out very slowly. He is considered a premier offensive attacker that can take out any threat with proper setup.

Strengths

One Shot, One Kill

Dark Corvus’ biggest strength comes from his ability to one shot many squishy unit, which turns to practically all units with soul burn. He is one of few units in the game capable of this feat.

Practically a Tank

With his high health pool, Dark Corvus can act as a team’s tank and can even provoke key enemy heroes out of their turn. On top of this, he can heal for his damage dealt, which mostly can sustain him back to full provided nothing stops him from healing.

Easy to Imprint

Since he can be imprinted with Fire Corvuses, he becomes one of the easiest 5 heroes to imprint. At the default state, he can provide HP% to his supports which is invaluable in keeping them alive through long engages. When concentrated, his imprint can give him another chunk of HP, which not only makes him tankier, but spikes up his damage up even further.

Weaknesses

Long Cooldown on Ultimate

Due to the powerful nature of his ultimate, it has one of the longest CDs in the game. This is supplemented by his skill 2, Ruin’s Advent, but this cooldown effectively gates him out of one tapping an enemy unit at the start out of battle.
*Note-This is can be Mitigated by Iseria, but it only goes to show how extensively Dark Corvus needs to be supported

Best with Soulburn

To reliably one shot most heroes, a 10 soul soulburn is recommended since the damage increase is approximately 80%. To this end, it is recommended that players remember the damage threshold for their own Dark Corvus and pay attention to enemy hero HP to know whether or not each instance a soulburn is required.

Difficult to Optimize

One way a defense can stop a Dark Corvus offense is to lock him down using debuffs such as blind, slow, and provoke. To become harder to stop, players must spend considerable resources to pair up Dark Corvus up with worth gear and artifact. This usually means a +30 artifact and gear with good rolls in many desirable substats.
