Gear

High-level players should be aiming to reach these stats on their Violet:

  • Atk - 3,000
  • HP - 15,000
  • Def - 900
  • Spd - 150
  • CritC - 85%
  • CritD - 210%
  • Eff % - 30%

With one of the lowest base Defense stats in the game, we want to maximize Violet's survivability with lots of HP% and flat DEF so that he can always survive long enough to S2 on his first turn. With 85% Crit Chance, Violet will always crit against meta Ice units. Atk and Crit Damage should be as high as possible, since damage will translate to healing for Violet if he has a Lifesteal set.

Set Bonus

Because Violet can reach an endgame power level with a Lifesteal gear set, building him is straightforward. The other two-piece set can be whatever is needed to round him out. Usually Health is best to help him survive the first turn in a fight, but if you're keeping him alive with a strong tank and/or healer, you may prefer a Critical set instead.

Advanced players who can keep Violet alive without the use of a Lifesteal set may prefer a Speed set instead. With 185+ Speed, Violet will usually be able to S2 faster than slower PvP bruisers can act, getting his evasion up just in time.

Artifacts

As for his Artifact, even though Violet Talisman has higher overall value and is very usable in PvE, Moonlight Dreamblade is a lot more effective on the first turn of a fight before Violet has eaten his apple. This reliability is indispensable in PvP, where the first turn is much more volatile.

Team

Core

As a bruiser, Violet best performs in content such as Guild War, where the fights are slower and heroes need to both fight and sustain. The best heroes to pair with him in this case would be someone who can boost his evasion rate and a third hero with sustain or defensive utilities.

Assassin Cartuja is the go-to partner for Violet due to his passive, which gives an additional 15% chance to evade. On top of that he also can inflict Stun and Defense Break. Other heroes that are good in this slot are heroes that can inflict Decrease Hit Chance, such as Dizzy or Arbiter Vildred.

Fallen Cecilia is a good defensive pick due to her passive barriers, which act as a soft form of sustain. Not only that, she can also be built as a damage threat on her own. A good alternative is Angelica with Idol's Cheer. The combination of Immunity and CR-push makes a Lifesteal Violet very hard to take down.

Analysis

Overview

To a lot of new players, Violet is the “He ate an apple and somehow killed my entire team” guy. The pretty boy from Perland is a foreign 5 Earth Thief who specializes in evasion and counterattacking. Most players can agree that whenever Violet appears in PvP, there is a good chance he is going to be annoying. When built correctly with RNG in his favor, he will dodge everything his opponents throw at him and become a one-man army.

Strengths

Unique Counterattack Mechanic

Violet has the unique ability to counterattack whenever an opponent misses against him. This is such a powerful mechanic that everything players build on Violet should be focused around it. In the right matchups, Violet can easily solo the entire enemy team.

Easy to Build

Due to Lifesteal's high value on Violet (owed to frequent counterattacks), he can be used in an endgame fight with the Gaveleet's set from Abyss. Since level 85 gear is very difficult to obtain in the early game, new players who reach the Gaveleet set can simply use this on him to achieve a similar power level to that of an end game set. If players have not reached the Gaveleet set, the level 71 Fire-linquish set or even the level 57 Blood Beast's set will be serviceable.

Hard to Debuff

Violet’s S2, 'Duel Accepted' (the infamous apple-eating), cleanses 2 debuffs. As long as he can eat his apple, he can remove any form of crowd control that isn't Sleep, Stun, Silence, or Provoke. Once he has eaten his apple and he gains 35% evasion, all attacks that miss will fail to land their debuff as well, making Violet a strong contender to run against Dizzy and other debuff-focused Ice-element heroes.

Weaknesses

Window of Vulnerability

Until Violet eats his apple with his S2, he has a big window of vulnerability where opponents may be able to kill him before he can counterattack. Countering Violet successfully usually involves taking advantage of this window.

Super Low Base Def

Violet has one of the lowest base Def values among all characters in the game. This makes him super easy to kill. He MUST be built to survive the first turn and subsequent chip damage by compensating with HP% and flat Def.

A.I. Uses His S3 Badly

Violet’s A.I. is designed to use his S3 'Butterfly Cut' regardless of how much Focus he has, which can lead to badly optimized Focus and turn count. This makes him much better when controlled by a player on Offense while balancing out how annoying he can be on Defense.
