Team

Core

Iseria has strong synergy with any unit that features initial/ long cooldowns. These include Dark Corvus, Destina, Luna, Krau, Rikoris, Crimson Armin, and many others.

Iseria is a semi-consistent Defense Breaker if equipped with Rosa Hargana, so she also appreciates speedy teammates who can proc her Dual Attacks frequently. Units with guaranteed Dual Attacks like Lilias or Kitty Clarissa can work as well.

The above is just one example of a well-adjusted team for PvE.

Secondary

Iseria gets specific mention as a great teammate for Tamarinne. At maximum skill Enhancement, Tamarinne can activate her S3 immediately to give the entire team a 50% CR boost plus an Atk buff.

This team is a good example of the Tamarinne/ Iseria "wombo combo" for PvP. It can be run with just about any AOE DPS (Clarissa is shown above), especially with an AOE Defense Breaker like Bellona (Tywin is another possible choice).

End Game PvP Debuffer/ Support

While she is generally built as an off DPS/ support DPS in PvE settings, in PvP Iseria is generally min'maxed to be a full debuffer support. She is paired with strong units with long cooldowns (i.e., Tamarinne, Dark Corvus) and is built with full Spd, Effectiveness, and survivability to maximize her longevity in a fight.

Gear

  • HP - 14,000

Due to an abundance of Ice units in the current meta, Iseria is tankier than she looks. 14k HP and some semblance of Def is usually enough for her to do her job.

  • Eff% - 150%

Her Effectiveness should be as high as humanly possible in order to land debuffs and dispels against high-Resistance targets. 150% is a good starting point: her S1 will have a 200% pre-Resistance effectiveness, and her S3 will have 100% effectiveness against targets with 150% Resistance.

  • Spd - 215

Obviously as a support whose main job is to Defense Break and reset cooldowns, it is ideal for Iseria to be as fast as possible. But when used with Tamarinne, it is best to always tune Iseria to be 10-12 Speed faster in order to chain their combo correctly.

Set Bonus

Since this build requires Iseria to be fast, a Speed set is a must. When used with Tamarinne, Iseria also needs to avoid faster debuffers -- an Immunity set can help with this greatly. For players who lack the correct substats on Immunity, a Hit or Health set can also do the job.

Artifacts

Song of Stars is the go-to for this build, since it can increase damage by 15% against targets that Iseria can Defense Break. This kind of damage potential can take down most targets in Arena or Guild War.

Sashe Ithanes is also a viable choice if players are trying to perfectly chain together turns to kill the enemy before they get a turn. It also works well in a Tamarinne composition, since a Magaraha's Tome Tamarinne can almost get her turn back completely when the first target dies. (50% S2 + 30% Magaraha's + 16% Sashe = 96%) This lets Tamarinne S1, which can often result in an immediate second kill, which can increase the team's CR by another 16%.

Team

Core

The strategy for an Iseria + Dark Corvus team is simple: Reset Dark Corvus' cooldown to one-shot enemies and survive.

In addition to Iseria and Dark Corvus, this team requires at least one Soul Weaver for sustain. It's good to have Soul Weavers of different elements so you can bring one who is strong against your enemy's comp (this also means the enemies have a higher chance to target Dark Corvus). However, Angelic Montmorancy is one of the best for this team. Not only can she keep allies safe from debuffs, her low cooldowns and quick turn cycling can generate a lot of Souls for Dark Corvus to burst down targets.

This composition goes slow and steady, so the last slot is very situational. Depending on what the player needs, good units for the last slot might be:

  • A second healer for more sustain (i.e., Angelica, Ruele of Light)
  • An Aurius tank for burst mitigation (i.e., Lilias, Crimson Armin, Fallen Cecilia)
  • A CR booster to speed up the fight (i.e., Destina, Desert Jewel Basar)
Secondary

An Iseria-Tamarinne comp, or an IseTama comp, would look something like this. The idea is to have Iseria be as fast as possible, with Tamarinne 10-12 Speed behind to instantly Idol Form (S3) so she can get rid of any existing debuffs. Tamarinne can then boost the rest of her team up and enable her DPS units to do what they do best: massive damage.

For Guild Wars, a 3-man cell like this is perfectly functional. The DPS can be interchangeable depending on the targets. Blood Blade Karin is a solid choice for most fights, but a hero like Lilibet could be a better pick when fighting against revivers such as Arbiter Vildred. Pick the DPS unit you have available who can best target your enemies' weaknesses.

For Arena, the fourth unit depends on the DPS and the enemy composition. If the DPS requires Soulburn, then the last unit needs to be a Mage to carry Tagehel's Ancient Book (example: Challenger Dominiel, who can not only carry the Book but also CR boost and act as a finisher with her high critical damage). If the enemy team looks rather tanky, an AoE Defense Breaker like Bellona or Tywin would go great in that last slot instead.

Analysis

Overview

Iseria is an incredibly versatile support Ranger who nonetheless excels in damage. She possesses the unique ability to reset the cooldowns of other heroes in combat, and is the sole carrier of a combined Unbuffable/ Defense Break in one skill. Her ability to fill any role (other than tank) and excel at it is praiseworthy. She works as a stellar DPS and force multiplier for your strongest units.

Strengths

Unique Full Reset Mechanic

Oathkeeper (S2), the only full reset in the game, is Iseria’s claim to fame. Iseria can freely reset the cooldown of any ally’s skills, with Oathkeeper itself being on a 4-turn cooldown (including her own extra turn). This is incredibly potent in combination with heroes who have an initial starting cooldown (like Tamarinne) or who have long cooldowns on their own marquee skills (like Desert Jewel Basar).

Unbuffable and DEF Break 100% in One Skill

Iseria has a combination of full buff dispel, Unbuffable, and Defense Break in her S3, Full Bloom. It even does a massive chunk of damage as well! This is the only skill in the game with this particular combination of effects, and it is incredibly effective for exposing and burning down a single target in record time.

High ATK and Crit Chance

Iseria, while a supportive character, also has some impressive offensive stats at her disposal. Her base critical chance of 21% when max awakened makes it easier to reach 100% critical rate. Her Atk is impressive, being the third highest Atk among all Rangers, and her Spd is quite high as well.

Weaknesses

Absolutely No AOE

Iseria is, unfortunately, not without faults. She has no AOE damage to speak of, making it harder for her to contribute to fights that require some kind of add clearing (i.e., Azimanak or Executioner Karkanis).

Unreliable DEF Break

Iseria’s S1, Refined Flower, leaves much to be desired, as the Defense Break chance only hits 50% at best. At least it lasts for two turns when successfully applied.

Staggered Cooldown on Oathkeeper

Oathkeeper is good for resetting the initial cooldown of a skill, but it can suffer from staggered cooldowns over time. For example, if Iseria resets Judge Kise right after she uses her 6-turn cooldown S3, Oathkeeper will come off cooldown while Judge Kise's S3 still has 2 turns to go. Using Oathkeeper on Judge Kise again at this point will only wipe out 2 turns of cooldown, which is not efficient. As most heroes will use their strongest skills simultaneously, it is likely that Oathkeeper will have reduced efficiency on at least some resets.
