Shield of Ezera
General
As a highly versatile Soul Weaver, Diene provides everything except healing (though she can fix that with the Rod of Amaryllis). She fares well in all situations except those where you are buff-immune, or where you take so much spike damage that her barriers can’t protect the party fully.
Since Diene needs to stay alive in order to keep her allies alive with her buffs, focus on survivability in her gear substats. She wants a lot of HP% (since her barriers are based on each target's maximum HP, including her own) and can benefit from some extra Def% and Effect Resistance to make her even sturdier. As with most heroes, she also wants Spd so she can take as many turns as possible.
Diene's primary gear set should be a Speed set (no surprises there). If you PvP heavily, you may wish to run Immunity for her secondary gear set, as this gives her breathing room on the first turn to cleanse the team of debuffs if she needs to. Otherwise, HP is a good choice.
For her Artifacts, you may wish to use:
- Magaraha’s Tome for even faster turns (especially in PvE)
- Rod of Amaryllis for incidental healing (Celestine works too, but Celestine's heal is weaker)
- Idol’s Cheer/ Wondrous Potion Vial for PvP

Team
For PvP, Diene fulfills two purposes as soon as she lays down her S3: defensive (a 50% chance to dodge a crit is a huge reduction in damage) and offensive (giving everyone a 3-turn Atk buff). In addition, she instantly gains 50% CR from using her S3 (up to 80% with Magaraha’s Tome), which means she can usually apply her barrier almost immediately afterward, greatly reducing the damage taken on the enemy turn.
On offense, she is best paired with strong AoE damage and at least one CR pusher. (And yes, we do see the irony in pairing her with Vildred.)
For PvE, Diene is best used with heroes who can generate assists or more CR to make her own turns come faster, due to the constant CR push from her Light of Judgment (S1). This makes Rangers a good partner for Diene, since they can equip Infinity Basket to pull her into Dual Attacks and many of them (such as Schuri) have CR manipulation themselves.
It may also be helpful to bring some off-healing. While Diene’s shields are often active and help to mitigate damage, it can be nice to have some residual healing. Requiemroar and Haste are good candidates for this role.
Since Diene can provide near-complete Atk buff uptime, she does not need another Atk buffer on the team, though it can still be of use in case a gap occurs (i.e., Diene gets Stunned).

Analysis
Overview
Diene is the Queen of Ezera and the joint holder of the "Most Versatile Soul Weaver" crown, alongside Tamarinne. She offers everything in one compact package: a teamwide Atk buff, Critical Hit resistance, AOE barriers, and significant self-CR boosts that help her keep all her buffs active throughout the entire battle.
Due to her diverse toolkit and strong Crit reduction mechanic, Diene can stabilize both PvE and PvP battles. She helps you avoid sticky situations where a hero gets knocked out due to lucky crits, and she makes your own team punch significantly harder as well.
Buffs? She’s got it. Cleanse? She’s got it. Defensive utility? She’s got it.
She’s queen for a reason!
Strengths
Incredible Personal CR Boosts
Diene specializes in going fast. Once she gets her first turn, she can rotate buffs at significant speed, especially when equipped with the Soul Weaver Artifact Magaraha’s Tome.
Buff Duration and Uniqueness
Diene boasts some of the longest buff durations in the game, with a 3-turn Attack/ Critical Resist buff rolled into one skill on Saint’s Prayer (S3). This is also the only teamwide Critical Resistance buff in the game, and it heavily counters crit-dependent heroes such as Schuri.
Spammable AOE Cleanse/ Shield
Blessings of the Goddess (Diene's S2) provides a barrier for her team and additionally cleanses one debuff from each ally. Once Skill Enhanced, this skill is on a 3-turn cooldown, making it very easy to spam indefinitely.
Good Speed
In addition to her personal CR boosts, Diene has good Speed for a Soul Weaver, clocking in at 103 Speed. This combined with her amazing self-CR boosts pushes her turns around extremely quickly.
Weaknesses
S2 Only Cleanses 1 Debuff
While Diene can cycle her debuff cleanse often, it only clears a single debuff from the team. Additionally, due to the way the skill works, Diene will try to apply her shield, then clear a debuff. If a hero is affected with Unbuffable, Diene will therefore be unable to apply the shield, even if she cleanses the ailment afterward.
Countered by Unbuffable
Since her entire kit revolves around buffs, the Unbuffable ailment hurts Diene more than any other Soul Weaver. Heroes like Basar in particular, who can strip her buffs and then apply Unbuffable to stop her from putting them back up, are Diene's worst nightmare.
No Healing
While Diene's barriers are strong, they may not be enough to protect from particularly large damage spikes (i.e., Wyvern's multiple fireballs or a charged Sigret S3). Once health is lost, Diene's kit is not able to restore it unless she is equipped with a healing Soul Weaver Artifact, like Celestine or the Rod of Amaryllis. However, Diene also really wants to equip Magaraha's Tome Artifact. This means she has to pick between maximizing her speedy buffing potential and the ability to heal her team.
