Red Armors

Ranking: 2/5

Arden is known for his massive physical bulk and his unique B Skill: Follow-Up Ring. Unfortunately, this skill has become completely outclassed by Bold Fighter. Along with his very limited mergability and subpar Attack stat, there are simply better options for sword armors.

Ranking: 4/5

The only reason Black Knight falls short of a 5/5 rating is due to a lack of merges and neutral IV. Simply put, if Black Knight had access to merges, he’d sit just below his unmasked self, Zelgius. Thanks to the Bold Fighter/Black Luna combo as well as the built-in Distant Counter in his weapon, Black Knight is a great choice for those seeking an extremely powerful red armor.

Ranking: 2/5

Draug is a more easily available Arden, and while he has much less HP, he can still be considered as a very bulky sword armor. Unfortunately, this niche is filled by almost every red armor. Great defenses alone aren’t enough to make an armored unit stand out.

Ranking: 5/5

Halloween Myrrh is the only red dragon armor in the game, and while with that comes a weakness to dragon-effective weaponsry, it also means she brings incredible power to the table. Halloween Myrrh’s only low stat is Speed, which is largely negated thanks to Fighter skills. Units without armor or dragon effectiveness beware, as Halloween Myrrh’s ridiculous physical and good magical bulk will allow her to withstand a plethora of attacks before going down.

Ranking: 4/5

Winter Tharja is known for her perfectly min-maxed stat spread, giving her incredible bulk and offensive strength. Furthermore, she’s a red tome that can be equipped with the powerful Fighter skills, giving her a unique advantage over all other red tome users in the game. Her access to a Blade weapon along with the ease of accessing class-specific buffs for armors makes her an incredibly potent nuke as well.

Ranking: 5/5

Zelgius is the king of red armors and sits near the top of the Fire Emblem Heroes food chain. Like most armors, Zelgius has a great stat spread, but what sets him apart is Black Luna, his exclusive 3 turn Special that ignores 80% of the foe’s Defense/Resistance. With his access to merges and IVs as well as the built-in Distant Counter to his weapon, Zelgius beats out his F2P counterpart Black Knight to sit on the red armor throne.

Ranking: 3/5

Zephiel’s exclusive weapon Eckesachs comes with Distant Def 3, which can also be run in the Sacred Seal slot to boost Zephiel’s ranged defenses to 50/36 Defense/Resistance. When this is combined with Distant Counter, Zephiel has a place as a decent mixed tank. Unfortunately he lacks access to merges and IVs, which would help cement his role as an Enemy Phase powerhouse.

Blue Armors

Ranking: 5/5

Thanks to the unique lance Maltet combining the effects of a Slaying Lance and an improved version of Quick Riposte, in addition to his unique A Skill Ostian Counter, which combines Distant Counter with Sturdy Stance, Brave Hector rests at the top of the blue lances, and competes closely with Legendary Tiki as the most powerful blue unit in the game.

Ranking: 4/5

Effie competes with Zelgius, Fallen Robin (M), Legendary Hector, and Winter Chrom in terms of sheer offensive power. Thanks to her availability as a 3 and 4 star, she is a great budget choice for an offensive blue armor. While she has lost value in recent months due to arena changes and BST inflation, she still performs well as a combat unit.

Ranking: 3/5

Eliwood comes with a workable mixed bulk and great Attack. Being a Tempest Trials reward, though, he’s very limited in his merges and lacks a boon/bane, causing him to fall short of his competition. Even still, he’s a fairly good unit, especially considering his F2P status.

Ranking: 4/5

Once upon a time, before the arrival of Legendary Tiki, Hardin was the only blue armor with built-in Distant Counter in his weapon, Gradivus. Because Tiki is simply a better unit, Hardin’s value has diminished, though he still remains as one of the best blue armors available.

Ranking: 2/5

Outside of the arena, Gwendolyn is lackluster in regard to her blue counterparts. Her low Attack means, she’ll have trouble damaging many neutral matchups unless she activates her Special, which can be disrupted through Guard or Special Fighter. It should be noted though that with a proper Boon/Bane, Gwendolyn can reach the coveted 170 BST bin, cementing her as a staple blue armor to arena score chasers on a budget.

Ranking: 3/5

Being the first blue armored bow unit, Halloween Niles comes with an unmatched base Speed of 39 along with a solid Attack of 34. Because of his access to Fighter skills with a statline that allows him to maintain his Speed even while using a Brave Bow, Halloween Niles can run many different builds, contributing to his overall value.

Ranking: 5/5

Where the red and green pool has their Kings, the blue armor pool has their Queen, and that queen is Legendary Tiki. Sporting an innate Distant Counter weapon with adaptive damage along with the highest BST in the game, it’s easy to see why Legendary Tiki sits at the top of the blue armor food chain. If that wasn’t enough, her unique C skill With Everyone! allows her to grant a bonus of Def/Res +5 to herself and her adjacent allies, and her native Fierce Breath and Bold Fighter are among the best Skills armors have at their disposal.

Ranking: 4/5

Valentine Lyn is the only blue tome armor in the game, and not only that, her stat spread is incredible for a Bladetome. Thanks to the playstyle of armor teams, keeping Lyn close to receive armor-based movement buffs is relatively easy. In turn, you’ve got yourself one of the best Blárblade users in the game.

Ranking: 3/5

While a still a powerful unit, Winter Robin falls short next to newer, more recent blue armor iterations. Even though he’s outclassed by Hardin, Brave Hector, and Legendary Tiki, Winter Robin can still get the job done, and his decent Speed does carve him somewhat of a niche among melee blue armors.

Green Armors

Ranking: 4/5

As a trainee armor, Amelia’s incredible BST of 173 is staggering just for the sheer amount of stat points she has at her disposal. Amelia works exceptionally well in any phase, making her easy to use. Thanks to her good Speed, she’ll rarely be doubled, allowing her to survive against many red physical threats, but she lacks any particularly distinguishing features that seperate the best green armors from the rest.

Ranking: 5/5

Garm sets Brave Ephraim among the top of the green armor pool thanks to it ensuring follow-up attacks whenever he receive a bonus from a Skill like a Rally, Hone/Fortify, or Armor March. While this requirement necessitates team support, it’s simple to take advantage of and offers powerful synergy with Special Fighter, which he has natively.

Ranking: 5/5

Fallen Robin’s monstrously high Attack stat that targets melee foes’ Resistance and the lower of the two defensive stats for ranged foes sets him near the top of the overcrowded green armor pool. Fallen Robin is extremely difficult to exchange blows with, even for many red units. Though he has his weakness -- specifically Falchions and Armorslayers -- most units are unable to withstand two attacks from a Bold Fighter dragon.

Ranking: 3/5

Like Eliwood (LA), Halloween Dorcas is a great example of a Tempest Trials unit done right. Even though he sports an incredible base Attack of 41, his lack of merges hold him back and his low Speed won’t stop any follow-ups. Even so, he’s a reliable counter to any blue physical threat and can retaliate against most greens with devastating damage.

Ranking: 4/5

As the only green tome armor in the game, Halloween Henry doesn’t disappoint. With an offensive spread of 33/36 and high Resistance, Halloween Henry is the perfect Gronnblade user. When further augmented by skills like Fury and Hone Armor, Henry will have little trouble dealing with most blue and green units.

Ranking: 3/5

Halloween Kagero’s base Attack of 38 spells KO for most units. Equip her with Bold Fighter and most teams will fall to her attacks, and if they don’t, her dagger debuffs will ensure that they won’t for long.. In addition to her insane Attack stat, her mixed bulk is a powerful tool that allows her to survive engagements.

Ranking: 3/5

While Hector remains a fantastic unit, his original incarnation is the worst of his iterations and falls short in power compared to newer green armors like Brave Ephraim and Fallen Robin. As always, just use Hector still rings true. He’s a great unit, albeit somewhat forgotten in an ocean of green amors.

Ranking: 4/5

Hector (LA) is just here to fight, and thanks to his superior stat spread over his original version, he does just what he’s here for. Berserk Armads has a built-in Wrath effect, boosting his Special damage further and granting additional Special cooldown -- and while normal Hector can also wield Berserk Armads, the superior stat spread of Hector (LA) makes him the better candidate.

Ranking: 5/5

The King of Green is here, and his name is still Hector. Thunder Armads prevents a foe’s follow-up attack so long as Hector’s allies within 2 spaces are more in number than his foes. Thanks to his high bulk, he’ll survive any singular attack save a Black Luna, and retaliate with incredible power.

Ranking: 3/5

Sheena’s mixed bulk uniquely solidifies her place within the green armor pool. While she has low Attack and Speed, her high bulk allows her to soak up blows and rely on Special damage to whittle down her opponents. Thanks to her availability in the 3 and 4 star pool, as well as her 170 BST with a Speed boon and non-Atk bane, Sheena is definitely a contender for a budget Arena core member.

Ranking: 4/5

Yet another finely-tuned, min-maxed green armor, Winter Chrom performs both the offensive and defensive roles well. While he offers nothing stellar in terms of weaponry, he has an amazing stat spread. There’s not much else to say about Winter Chrom. He’s a fantastic offensive, defensive, or mixed-use green armor.

Ranking: 4/5

Winter Lissa comes with an even stat spread than her brother -- she sacrifices Attack for Speed, but otherwise has an all-around solid stat spread. Like Winter Chrom, though she lacks an amazing native weapon, which causes her to fall short of the other top-tier green armors.

Colorless Armors

Ranking: 5/5

Being the only colorless armor unit, Jakob wins by default. But if he had to compete, he would more than hold his own, as he’s is one of the most powerful offensive forces in the game. Thanks to new Skills such as Death Blow 4 and Bold Fighter combined with a Brave Bow, Halloween Jakob has been able to retain his place at the top of the food chain. Few units will survive a Brave Bow / Bold Fighter onslaught from a unit that ignores color advantages.
