Shove/Smite

Overview

Shove/Smite are mobility assist skills that have the same effect, but at different levels of power. Shove moves an ally one space, and Smite two. Smite is generally superior, as it provides double the movement range. But as the target is moved away from the user, Smite can sometimes send an ally into danger. Smite also has some other effects. If a unit cannot traverse the space Smite would send it to, it will only move a single space. If the space two squares away is clear, and the space in between is untraversable, then the unit will be able to cross the space. In this way, Smite can be used to send various units across one square of mountain, water or forest (but not walls).

Synergy

Shove and Smite can be used to move an attacker in range to attack, or out of danger. Smite’s usefulness in any given match is also dependent on the terrain, and your units who can or can’t cross it. Armored units can benefit greatly from Smite, potentially tripling their movement range. Consider giving it to the flying unit on your team: They can manoeuvre around your team easily, and have the least to gain from Smite itself, as they can naturally cross any terrain.

Weaknesses

Like most assist skills, Shove/Smite doesn’t have any direct counters. Using Shove can leave one wanting of a more powerful assist skill, as only it moves an ally one space. Smite can be tricky to use since it requires the user to line up with both the target and the space, something that isn’t always easy to do in the heat of battle. Both of these skills have tricky positioning and are a lot harder to setup compared to Swap and Reposition.
