Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK or +DEF or +SPD

  • This build aims to have Laevatein perform as a general melee combatant with the assumption that there will be a Far Save unit supporting her against ranged foes. As such, there is a variety in the types of assets that Laevatein can use for this role.

Weapon: Laevatein (+Eff)

  • In addition to granting bonuses to Attack based on field buffs (the blade tome effect) as well as a ludicrous boost to Attack and Defense during combat, Laevatein even grants both her and her support partner a buff to Attack and Defense at the start of the turn.

Assist: Positional Assist

Special: Glimmer / Moonbow / Ruptured Sky

  • Specials that have a cooldown of 2 such as Glimmer are the best option for Laevatein, as they can be activated consistently upon every counterattack to OHKO opponents.

Passive A: Atk/Def Unity / Atk/Def Ideal / Atk/Def Solo / Sturdy Stance

  • This build favors combat against melee-range opponents, particularly those that deal physical damage.
  • In addition to the simple +5 boost to the key stats, any debuffs and/or Panic effect inflicted on those stats will be reversed to become an in-combat buff with Atk/Def Unity.
    • Keep in mind that this does not neutralize penalties or change your visible stats so AOE Specials will deal complete damage and weapons that are activated based on opponent’s penalties such as Void Tome or Broadleaf Fan will still retain their effects.
  • Atk/Def Ideal synergizes exceptionally well with Laevatein’s weapon, and satisfying both conditions yields an impressive +9 to Atk/Def.
  • Both Stance skills and Solo skills that boost Laevatein’s key stats have their advantages as you prefer.

Passive B: Null C Disrupt / Null Follow-up / Special Spiral

  • Null Follow-up is a very useful skill that one can take in order to disable any form of foe’s automatic follow-up attacks as well as anything that may prevent them. This includes skills such as Bold Fighter, Wary Fighter, Quick Riposte, as well as many unique weapons.
  • Null C-Disrupt is another highly coveted skill for infantry tanks, as it allows them to retaliate against opponents that would otherwise disable any form of counterattack.
  • Special Spiral opens up the opportunity to run stronger Specials such as Dragon Fang and Ignis while still retaining the ability to instantly retaliate with them (following their first activation)

Passive C: Smoke Skills / Flexible

  • Smoke skills such as Pulse Smoke or Def Smoke are very effective when taking on multiple opponents.
  • The C skill can otherwise be replaced as needed to suit the team.

Sacred Seal: Steady Breath / Atk/Def Solo

  • Steady Breath makes for an exceptional Sacred Seal by accelerating the cooldown of Laevatein’s Special while granting a Defense Boost.
  • Any Sacred Seal that further boosts Laevatein’s key stats such as Atk/Def Solo also makes for a suitable choice.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK

  • An asset in Attack is ideal for ensuring that Laevatein is able to OHKO her opponent.

Weapon: Laevatein (+Eff)

Assist: Positional Assist

Special: Glimmer / Moonbow

  • Offensive Specials that have a cooldown of 2 allow for an activation every other attack.

Passive A: Distant Counter

Passive B: Vantage

  • The crux of this build is pairing Distant Counter with Vantage to have an instant retaliation against any opponent upon having less than 75% HP.

Passive C:  Smoke Skills / Flexible

  • This time, Fatal Smoke is particularly effective in reducing the survivability of opponents around the target after combat by preventing any form of passive healing.

Sacred Seal: Atk/Def Solo

  • Any Sacred Seal that further boosts Laevatein’s key stats makes for a suitable choice

Strengths

Laevatein

A great weapon for unga. On top of the “Blade tome” effect (bonuses converted into an in combat attack bonus), Laevatein can grant an additional +10 to Atk/Def during combat and an automatic +6 bonus to Atk/Def for her and her support partner at the start of the turn.

Infantry

Thanks to her status as an infantry unit, Laevatein gets to enjoy a wide variety of skills exclusive only to certain movement types such as Lull skills, Null Follow-up, Special Spiral, etc..

Weaknesses

Poor Magical Bulk

With only 61 magical bulk at base, Laevatein is susceptible to getting heavily chunked, if not outright killed by strong magical attacks.

Highly reliant on team support

Although her weapon is incredibly powerful, Laevatein requires an ample amount of team support in order to reach its full potential and can easily be interrupted through status effects such as debuffs and Panic.
