  • Rath is relatively similar to a few of his fellow green bow cavaliers, namely Summer Wolt and his daughter, Sue(like father like daughter, huh?). Rath does have an HP and slight Resistance lead over the two, however.
  • Despite Rath’s lack of an exclusive weapon, he’s not hurting for choices weapon-wise, having a plethora of excellent inheritable bows to choose from, most notably the Spendthrift Bow, one of the best inheritables in the game. The Spendthrift Bow significantly increases Rath’s durability and offensive power, at the cost of increasing Rath’s Special cooldown by 2 after every combat, leaving non 2cd Specials woefully ineffective without Heavy Blade, and even with Heavy Blade, only 3 cooldown Specials such as Deadeye and Luna will function, provided he attacks twice(however, unless Rath is counterattacked, the Special will only trigger on the next combat, due to being left on 2 cooldown). While the Spendthrift Bow is easily Rath’s best option, he can also utilize a Firesweep Bow to avoid counterattacks, or a Coral Bow to greatly reduce his foe’s Defense and Speed, especially potent when combined with Lull Spd/Def. Lull Spd/Def is a solid option for Rath’s B slot regardless, though.
  • While the above bows are strong options for Rath, they’re also 5* exclusive and thus fairly difficult to obtain, so one can also opt for his innate Slaying Bow to quicken his specials if no other options are available.
  • Player Phase A slot skills such as Swift Sparrow and Atk/Spd Push improve Rath’s player phase performance greatly due to their potent offensive boosts.
  • Lull Spd/Def is Rath’s best B slot option, increasing his offensive prowess even further by reducing the foe’s Defense and Speed, reducing their bulk making them much easier to perform follow-up attacks against. Desperation and Chill Defense are also usable options on a budget, however.
  • Rath’s C slot skill is mainly up to user preference. Distant Guard is a decent choice for team support, but it can be replaced as desired.
  • Heavy Blade is a great option for Rath’s sacred seal slot as it allows him to circumvent the Spendthrift Bow’s main weakness, provided the opponent lacks Guard, although without the Spendthrift Bow, Rath is unlikely to trigger Heavy Blade against high Attack foes, so other Player Phase sacred seals such as Swift Sparrow and Death Blow would be preferable, although they can also be run with Spendthrift and a 2cd Special if special activations are not a concern.

Passive B: Lull Atk/Spd / Lull Atk/Def

Passive C: Pulse Smoke / Preference

  • In spite of his rather lackluster Defense and Resistance, Rath can take advantage of the Spendthrift Bow to perform decently well in an Enemy Phase role, as it grants him a substantial increase in durability due to its Attack debuff, especially in conjunction with Lull Atk/Spd or Lull Atk/Def.
  • Close Foil allows Rath to counterattack physical foes regardless of range while also giving him a sizeable boost to Attack and Defense if they initiate combat, functioning as a straight upgrade over Close Counter in most situations, as Close Counter’s only perk over Close Foil is the ability to counterattack dragons. If ranged foes are more of a concern, Rath can instead opt for Mirror Stance 3 for a sizeable boost to Attack and Resistance during Enemy Phase in addition to the Guard effect.
  • Pulse Smoke is a great option for many Enemy Phase units as it allows them to delay Enemy Specials, but it can be replaced as needed.
  • Finally, Atk/Def Solo and Spd/Res Solo are both great options for Rath’s sacred seal slot, granting him another substantial stat boost regardless of phase, provided he isn’t adjacent to any allies.

Strengths

Good Offenses

Rath’s Offensive spread of 33/35 allows him to secure follow-up attacks easily while dealing good damage as well, allowing him to make good use of a plethora of inheritable bows such as the Spendthrift Bow and Coral Bow.

Cavalry

Rath greatly benefits from his status as a Cavalier, as it gives him access to powerful Cavalry buffs and increased movement.

Weaknesses

Poor Defenses

While skills such as the Spendthrift Bow and Close Foil can alleviate this to some extent, Rath’s base durability is lacking outside of his decent HP, and without investment Rath will struggle to take more than one hit from any source.

Cavalry

Rath’s Status as a cavalier leaves him vulnerable to effective weaponry, such as Hoshidan Summer Micaiah’s Dawn Suzu. Rath is also unable to pass through forests and moves slowly through trenches.
