Assets

  • +ATK: With a middling 29 Attack, Caeda appreciates an Attack Asset to increase her usually underwhelming damage output. Given that her Speed is already so high, an Attack Asset can help Caeda deal more damage to slow, high-Resistance enemies.
  • +SPD: Raising Caeda’s impressive 37 Speed to 40 with a Speed Asset helps Caeda perform and avoid follow-up attacks. While her Attack is mediocre, Speed is still Caeda’s best Asset for a Blade tome set, as she can more than make up for her 29 Attack with visible buffs.

Neutral

  • HP: Decreasing Caeda’s HP with an HP Flaw is undesirable because Caeda’s magical bulk is good enough to tank magical hits.
  • RES: 30 base Resistance allows Caeda to utilize Ploys decently and play an effective magical tank role. Lowering Caeda’s Resistance to 26 with a Resistance Superflaw is highly undesirable, as doing so ruins Caeda’s ability to Ploy and diminishes her magical tanking ability.

Flaw

  • -DEF: Caeda’s Defense sits at an extremely low 19. In combination with a pathetic 33 HP, Caeda is very prone to being OHKO’d by physical enemies. Lowering Caeda’s Defense to 16 with a Defense Flaw will negligently affect her already poor physical tanking abilities.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK or +SPD / -DEF

  • While Caeda’s middling Attack makes +ATK a desirable Asset, +SPD is arguably her best Asset. Because she can reach a sky-high damage ceiling thanks to her Blade tome, she wants to secure a follow-up attack to take advantage of that damage output. -DEF is Caeda’s best Flaw because her physical tanking capabilities are already so poor.

Weapon: Blárblade+

  • Due to her 29 base Attack, Caeda will frequently need assistance increasing her Attack to deal meaningful damage. However, this can be patched with a Blade tome and proper support, as she gains bonuses to her damage equal to the total amount of visible buffs she has. With such high damage potential, Caeda’s mediocre Attack won’t end up mattering depending on the situation.

Assist: Reposition / Flexible

Special: Glimmer / Moonbow

  • Like with any Blade tome user, Glimmer is a fantastic Special, as its bonus damage scales with Blade tome bonus damage.

  • Moonbow is a good alternative, especially when against enemies with high Resistance or a way to nullify Caeda’s visible buffs.

Passive A: Swift Sparrow (2 or 3) / Atk/Spd Solo / Bonus Doubler / Fury

  • Swift Sparrow has fantastic synergy with this set, as Caeda will be initiating for most of her combat due to the set’s Player Phase focus. Granting +4/6 Attack and +4/7 Speed on initiation, Swift Sparrow secures higher damage and a greater chance of performing a follow-up attack to make the most of Blárblade’s fantastic damage potential.

  • Since this set is primarily Player Phase, Caeda will find herself needing to stray from her allies to snipe faraway enemies. As such, Atk/Spd Solo is a great option to ensure she can KO those faraway enemies; it also activates on Enemy Phase if Caeda needs to counter rather than initiate.

  • Bonus Doubler is an expensive, but fantastic alternative. Caeda will consistently be receiving visible buffs, so doubling those buffs proves useful for increasing Caeda’s damage output and/or defensive capabilities.

  • While it grants Caeda lower offensive and defensive capabilities, Fury is a good budget option that can help Caeda activate Desperation with its recoil damage. +3 Resistance also helps Caeda activate Ploys more consistently.

Passive B: Desperation

  • Caeda’s physical bulk is extremely poor, sitting at a measly 51. As such, Caeda consistently has to fear being OHKO’d by physical Distant Counter enemies and Dragons. Caeda can circumvent this by activating Desperation, allowing Caeda to perform her follow-up attack before the enemy can counterattack.

Passive C: Odd/Even Atk Wave / Odd/Even Spd Wave / Res Ploy / Flexible

  • Caeda’s reliance on her allies for physical buffs bogs her independency and flexibility. She can partially patch this via self-buffs such as Wave skills. An Atk Wave is particularly helpful since it grants Caeda +12 damage due to Blárblade’s bonus damage, although a Spd Wave is perfectly serviceable to assist Caeda in performing and avoiding follow-up attacks.

  • With a decent 30 Resistance that can be raised with visible buffs and skills such as Fury, Ploys become viable skills for both combative and supportive purposes. Res Ploy is particularly helpful for Caeda and her magical allies, raising their damage output.

  • Like with most other units, Caeda’s C slot is flexible and should change depending on the rest of her team.

Sacred Seal: Flashing Blade / Sturdy Blow / Heavy Blade / Res Ploy

  • Due to Blárblade’s +1 Special cooldown, Caeda is unable to activate any Special from max-cooldown in 1 combat if Desperation is active. However, Caeda can ensure that her first combat is powerful by activating her Special if she activates Flashing/Heavy Blade, she performs a follow-up attack, and no Guard effect is active. Accelerated Special cooldown is generally beneficial in dealing extra damage to tough enemies as well.

  • Sturdy Blow and Res Ploy both increase Caeda’s damage output, with the former via +4 Attack on initiation and with the latter via -5 to enemies’ Resistance. The former can also help Caeda survive a physical counterattack, while the latter allows Caeda to play a minor supportive role.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK or +SPD or +RES / -DEF

  • Caeda’s choice of Asset for an Enemy Phase oriented set is quite flexible; +ATK offers higher damage output, +SPD helps secure follow-up attacks for Caeda without a reliance on Quick Riposte, and +RES allows Caeda to tank magical hits more effectively. However, -DEF is easily Caeda’s best Flaw, as Caeda is unable to tank physical attacks without an enormous amount of Defense buffs.

Weapon: Blárowl+ (+SPD or +RES) / Blárserpent+ (+SPD or +RES)

  • Given that this set is more Enemy Phase oriented, Caeda will be able to stand adjacent to her allies much easier than a Player Phase oriented set. As such, Blárowl is a great choice for increasing Caeda’s stats by a maximum of 6 each with relative ease.

  • While Blárserpent doesn’t increase Caeda’s Attack or Speed, it’s still a good option for purely mage tanking. Note that Caeda may struggle to KO many mages that attack her, as most mages have high Resistance and Caeda’s Attack is consistently lacking.

Assist: Reposition / Flexible

Special: Iceberg / Blue Flame / Glacies / Moonbow / Luna

  • Since Caeda is able to raise her already decent 30 Resistance via various weapons, skills, and buffs, Iceberg and Glacies are great Specials that provide some much needed burst damage.

  • Blue Flame synergizes fantastically with an Enemy Phase set (especially if utilizing Blárowl, as she wants to be adjacent her allies anyways).

  • Caeda will usually only be able to tank mages; because mages generally have high Resistance, Moonbow and Luna are good alternative Specials to deal higher damage by ignoring some of their Resistance.

Passive A: Atk/Res Bond (3 or 4) / Atk/Spd Bond (3 or 4) / Mirror Stance / Atk/Spd Form

  • For a Blárowl set, Bond skills synergize perfectly, as both skills rely on adjacent allies to grant Caeda in-combat buffs. Atk/Res Bond and Atk/Spd Bond in particular are helpful, with the former increasing Caeda’s mage tank capabilities, the latter making Caeda less reliant on Quick Riposte for performing a follow-up attack, and both providing Caeda with higher damage output.

  • Mirror Stance is a consistent Enemy Phase skill that grants Caeda +4 Attack and Resistance. Attack and Resistance are vital for Caeda’s efficiency, with the former ensuring Caeda’s magical tanking matters and the latter ensuring Caeda can tank magical hits effectively.

  • Since this set focuses primarily on Enemy Phase, Caeda will usually have no trouble staying close to her allies, especially if her weapon of choice is Blárowl. As such, Atk/Spd Form grants Caeda some much needed Attack and Speed to increase her damage output.

Passive B: Null C-Disrupt / Quick Riposte / Lull Atk/Spd / Dull Ranged / Guard

  • Since Caeda doesn’t want her Resistance to be put to waste, Null C-Disrupt guarantees that she will counter against any ranged enemy.

  • If wanting to focus only on Caeda’s Attack and Resistance and not her Speed, Caeda can rely on Quick Riposte for performing follow-up attacks on Enemy Phase.

  • Lull Atk/Spd and Dull Ranged are great alternatives to ensure mages cannot rip through Caeda’s defenses with a Blade tome.

  • Guard prevents enemies from dealing additional damage to Caeda with their Specials (particularly Moonbow and Luna).

Passive C: Atk Smoke / Atk Ploy / Flexible

  • Since this set focuses on tanking and KOing mages, Smoke skills can help Caeda perform those roles more efficiently. In particular, Atk Smoke helps Caeda tank magical hits better by debuffing enemies’ Attack, and Res Smoke helps Caeda deal more damage to enemies nearby her original target/aggressor.

  • Thanks to her solid 30 Resistance that can be further increased with weapon refines, visible buffs, and various skills, Caeda can utilize Atk Ploy and Res Ploy to perform both a combative and a supportive role.

  • Aside from these, Caeda’s C slot can be nearly anything as long as it synergizes with her team.

Sacred Seal: Fierce Stance / Distant Def / Atk/Res Bond / Atk/Spd Bond / Quick Riposte

  • Due to Caeda’s lacking Attack, she wants Fierce Stance to increase her counterattack damage.

  • Distant Def synergizes well with mage tanking (and Bow/Dagger tanking if utilizing Blárserpent), granting Caeda increased overall bulk on Enemy Phase.

  • If utilizing Blárowl, Caeda can run a Bond Sacred Seal to further increase her in-combat buffs. Atk/Res Bond and Atk/Spd Bond are particular, since they both increase Caeda’s damage output and Enemy Phase capabilities.

  • Quick Riposte is a workable alternative as well if not investing in Caeda’s Speed and using a B slot other than Quick RIposte.

Introduction

With gorgeous art and a beautiful bouquet in tow, Caeda makes another appearance in Fire Emblem Heroes as an infantry blue mage! While her love is unwavering, her combat abilities unfortunately leave much to be desired, especially compared to her peers.

Caeda’s main strengths are her fantastic Speed and decent Resistance, clocking in at 37 and 30 respectively. Unfortunately, the strengths end there, as her 33 HP, 29 Attack, and 19 Defense are very lacking. While Caeda has an easy time performing follow-up attacks against her enemies and can tank magical hits effectively (with some Resistance buffs), she crumbles against most physical enemies, usually being OHKO’d. Because Distant Counter is so common, Caeda is practically forced to use Desperation to avoid being OHKO’d by many Distant Counter enemies. Caeda’s physical frailty wouldn’t be as much of an issue if she had more Attack; 29 is a mediocre value, and she often struggles to deal meaningful damage even though she usually performs a follow-up attack. As such, she needs to stack buffs with Blárblade or receive high amounts of Attack buffs to consistently KO many enemies. At the very least, Caeda’s status as an infantry unit benefits her mobility, as she’ll be able to utilize skills such as Guidance and Ground Orders from her flying allies. She’s also rarely concerned about effective damage, as infantry-effective weapons are very sparse.

Unfortunately, Caeda also struggles to stand out amongst her blue mage peers due to her low Attack and generic statline. While Caeda’s Speed exceeds most of her peers’ Speed stats, her 29 Attack and lack of a refine cripples her combat capabilities. Infantry blue mages such as Linde, Delthea, Lute, and Mae outclass Caeda’s damage output, and units such as Female Morgan are more optimized for mage tanking/countering thanks to their higher Attack (while still maintaining Resistance ≥ Caeda’s Resistance). Non-infantry blue mages such as Reinhardt, Summer Corrin/Camilla, and Valentine’s Lyn also outclass Caeda’s damage output, with Lyn being able to counter mages better than Caeda as well.

From the beginning, Caeda has been outclassed, and the progression of the meta hasn’t done anything to help her. Her mediocre Attack strips her of higher damage output and results in her being outclassed by many other blue mages. However, with some investment, she can still be a perfectly good mage that can dish out damage and tank magical attacks efficiently. While many players may throw her by the wayside and forget her completely, she’ll always have Marth’s love and company until the end.

Strengths

Fantastic Speed

Caeda’s Speed of 37 is no less than amazing, helping her perform follow-up attacks consistently.

Decent Resistance

Despite her pathetic 33 HP, Caeda’s decent 30 Resistance allows her to play a magically defensive role effectively. 30 Resistance also allows Caeda to utilize Ploys decently, although she may need visible Resistance buffs to Ploy reliably.

Weaknesses

Middling Attack

Unfortunately, due to her mediocre 29 Attack, Caeda needs to rely on a Blade tome or several Attack buffs to deal high amounts of damage. Many of her blue mage peers also overshadow Caeda as a result of her Attack being lower than many of theirs.

Terrible physical bulk

The terrible combination of 33 HP and 19 Defense leaves Caeda very prone to being OHKO’d by physical enemies. Because so many physical units have Distant Counter in some form in today’s meta, Caeda is practically forced to utilize Desperation to avoid physical counterattacks.

Immense competition

Caeda has to compete with many fellow blue mages, and she struggles to outshine them in any way. Among others, Linde, Lute, Mae, Delthea, Reinhardt, Summer Corrin, Summer Camilla, Valentine’s Lyn, and Legendary Azura (though she’s primarily for support).
