Sacred Seal: Swift Sparrow / Heavy Blade

  • Fiora’s poor physical bulk can sometimes prevent her from initiating against melee enemies. Thanks to the Firesweep Lance, she can avoid counterattacks from all enemies in most circumstances.

  • As with other offensive sets, Fiora greatly appreciates Assets and skills that increase her Attack and Speed to secure higher damage and chances of performing follow-up attacks. Atk/Spd Push 4 is an especially effective skill, as it grants Fiora +7 Atk/Spd during combat if her HP is ≥ 25%; since Fiora can avoid counterattacks with Firesweep Lance, she’ll likely be able to take advantage of this for many combats. Alternatives include Swift Sparrow and Fury, with the latter helping Fiora activate Pegasus Flight.

  • While Fiora has a middling 32 base Attack, she can still take advantage of Heavy Blade with the help of Attack-increasing skills and buffs. In tandem with a 2-cooldown Special, Fiora can activate her Special on her follow-up attack if no Guard effect is active on the enemy. Alternatives include Iceberg and Glacies, both of which take advantage of Fiora’s excellent Resistance.

  • Skills that debuff the enemy’s Defense are valuable, as Fiora will generally have more trouble dishing out high damage than performing a follow-up attack. Her base Pegasus Flight is a great choice, inflicting up to -7 Atk/Def on the enemy if her Resistance is at least 14 higher than the enemy’s (given that she passes the lenient Speed check). Chill Def, Sabotage Def, and Def Smoke also help; the combination of Pegasus Flight and Def Smoke is especially effective, since the former is an in-combat debuff while the latter is a visible debuff.

Passive B: Desperation

Passive C: Def Smoke / Flexible

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade / Swift Sparrow

  • While a generic offensive set, Fiora can make great use of Desperation to circumvent her unfortunate physical bulk, which could cause Fiora to be OHKO’d by melee counterattacks.

  • Desperation allows Fiora to perform her follow-up attack before the enemy counterattacks if her HP is ≤ 75%, so if she 2HKOs the enemy, she won’t need to face a potentially lethal counterattack. In order to drop Fiora’s HP into Desperation range, Atk/Spd Push 4 and Fury are fantastic choices, as they force Fiora to suffer recoil damage.

  • If Desperation and Heavy Blade are active, Fiora can activate a 3-cooldown Special with Slaying Lance (or 2-cooldown with Lofty Blossoms) on her follow-up attack or activate Galeforce after 2 attacks if no Guard effect is active on the enemy and Fiora performs a follow-up attack. To ensure that Fiora activates Heavy Blade and performs a follow-up attack, skills that increase Attack and Speed such as the aforementioned Atk/Spd Push 4 and Fury (along with Swift Sparrow) are greatly appreciated. Lofty Blossom’s Swift Sparrow effect makes it a great alternative for Slaying Lance.

  • Fiora’s C slot is flexible and can change depending on her allies’ skills, but Def Smoke will always be helpful, as debuffing the enemies’ Defense allows Fiora and her physical allies to deal increased damage. Def Smoke is especially beneficial for a Galeforce set, as Fiora can immediately take advantage of the -7 Defense infliction to potentially deal 14 more damage to enemies within 2 spaces of the previous target.

Sacred Seal: Any Stance skill / Iote’s Shield / Distant Def

While this set aims to bolster Fiora’s magical bulk as high as possible while preserving reasonable damage and solid Speed, her Resistance is good enough to potentially turn Fiora into a mixed tank by focusing on increasing her lackluster Defense. If such a set is desired, +DEF now becomes a recommended Asset, +DEF the recommended Guard Lance refine, and Iote’s Shield a necessity.

  • Fiora boasts an excellent 37 Resistance that can be raised even higher through skills and a refine. With this, she can become an effective dedicated magical tank that can survive many magical hits, then nuke her enemies with Iceberg or Glacies, both of which grant bonus damage based on her Resistance. +ATK is chosen to increase her damage output, while +RES is chosen to increase her Iceberg/Glacies damage and ability to take several magical attacks; while -DEF is recommended due to this set’s sole focus on magical resistance, it can become a great Asset if choosing to focus on her physical bulk, given that her magical bulk is already great.

  • While Barrier Lance or Vanguard may seem appealing, Guard Lance’s -1 Special charge infliction on the enemy is arguably more valuable, as enemies now have more difficulty charging Specials that would rip through Fiora’s defenses. A +RES refine increases her magical bulk, +SPD helps secure performing and avoiding follow-up attacks, and +DEF may be chosen for a mixed bulk set.

  • Distant Counter is vital for this set, as it’s usually not very helpful to tank multiple attacks if Fiora cannot deal damage in return. While Quick Riposte can guarantee follow-up attacks at ≥ 70% HP, Fiora’s native Pegasus Flight can also be used to increase Fiora’s damage output and survivability by debuffing the enemy’s Atk/Def. Atk Smoke furthers the attempt at increasing Fiora’s survivability (along with her allies’ survivability), as it inflicts -7 Attack on all enemies within 2 spaces of the target.

  • Any Sacred Seal that activates on Enemy Phase works wonders for Fiora, with Mirror Stance being particularly useful. Depending on which stat(s) the player would like to focus on, a different Sacred Seal may be chosen. If wanting Fiora to become a mixed tank or survive attacks from enemy Archers, Iote’s Shield is necessary.

Strengths

Amazing Speed

With a great 38 Speed, Fiora will consistently perform and avoid follow-up attacks. This can help make up for Fiora’s mediocre Attack and terrible Defense.

Great Resistance

Fiora boasts an excellent 74 magical bulk thanks to her fantastic 37 Resistance. With this, Fiora can reliably survive multiple magical attacks and duel dragons. In conjunction with her high Speed, Fiora will also have little trouble taking advantage of her native Pegasus Flight.

Flier advantages

As a flier, Fiora has various advantages at her disposal. She can cross nearly all terrain, making her mobility and flexibility stronger than any other movement type. Also, she can provide further support through skills such as Ground Orders, Air Orders, Flier Formation, Aerobatics, and Guidance to grant her allies more options for escaping from and attacking enemies.

Weaknesses

Middling Attack

While 32 Attack is far from the worst, its mediocrity prevents Fiora from standing above her other Lance Flier peers. Her damage output relies heavily on Attack buffs, Defense debuffs, and performing follow-up attacks (which is thankfully easy thanks to her 38 Speed); without a variety of these, Fiora’s raw damage is middling.

Awful physical bulk

Unlike many recent Lance Fliers, Fiora suffers from terrible 58 physical bulk due to the combination of 38 HP and 21 Defense. Because of this, Fiora may be prone to being OHKO’d by many physical enemies, and like with many other fliers, surviving an arrow is a pipe dream.

Flier drawbacks

Fiora’s status as a flier is a double-edged sword. While she receives plenty of skills to increase the flexibility of both herself and her allies along with the being able to cross nearly all terrain types, Fiora cannot use many valuable skills that would greatly boost her offensive and defensive capabilities, including: Bonus Doubler, Null Follow-Up, Null C-Disrupt, and Flashing Blade. While her physical bulk is already poor, Archers will ensure that Fiora meets a swift end unless she has Iote’s Shield equipped.

Failure to stand out

Unfortunately, FEH’s Blue pool is bloated with Lance Fliers that have generic statlines. Due to the lack of a personal weapon and middling Attack, Fiora joins her peers as a basic Lance Flier with very little to distinguish herself.
