  • With this build, Laegjarn is capable of buffing herself with Atk/Spd Menace, which grants her an additional +4 in-combat boost to all stats when it's active, on top of her prf's built-in +4. With ally buffing support, she can stack even more stats, which allows her to bulldoze everything in her path.
  • Laegjarn is a combat specialist at her core, with no built-in cooldown reduction, but with her Níu offering her Null Follow-Up, which ensures that she hits twice - and hits hard - as long as she can pass the Speed check. This is why Surge Sparrow works so well on her: it grants her great sustain, so she can keep doing what she does best.
  • If you can't afford a Menace skill in her C slot, an Atk Wave or Spd Wave is still good, as it ensures that she gets +2 all-stats during the turn it's active, as well as the buffs it offers.
  • The rest of her kit is just about building up her Attack and Speed. Since 36 Speed is a bit low these days, we want to buff it as much as possible to get the most out of her Níu's built-in Null Follow-Up.

  • This build is intended to work alongside a Far Save tank, which allows Laegjarn to ignore her poor Resistance in order to run skills which help to serve her as a physical melee support, where her Níu's built in Null Follow-Up disables guaranteed follow-ups from slow attackers like Legendary Sigurd.
  • Since her goal is to outspeed or at least Speed-tie her attackers, Guard Bearing protects Laegjarn from the first melee hit she takes - and due to Null Follow-Up, she's not likely to take a second hit.
  • Atk/Def Menace works with her prf to give her an in-combat buff to all of her stats, as well as the field buff it provides to her, and debuffing her foe's crucial stats to ensure her own survival.
  • Finally, her seal slot is flexible - Close Def allows her to work when next to her allies, but Atk/Def Solo grants her much-needed Attack with which to get her KOs.

Strengths

Respectable Refine

Laegjarn's refine is absolutely preferable to her base Níu and enables her to join the ranks of the few fliers who have access to the skill Null Follow-Up. Having NFU built into her prf, as well as a conditional +4 to all stats makes her formidable indeed, and then there's the additional stats she gains.

Laegjarn goes from absorbing 50% of her opponent's total buffs (for example, an opponent with +6 to atk gives Laegjarn +3 to all stats) to absorbing 40% of foes buffs and her own buffs, which gives her far more control of her in-combat buffs. Sadly, this caps out at +10 to all stats in combat, but can be a great additional boost to her stats. Laegjarn can even reach that +10 cap herself, with +6 visible buffs to all stats. This removes the reliance on her foe's buffs for her prf to work well.

Arena Counter

Due to how Níu works, Laegjarn is great in Arena, where she counters dual rally buffs on her opponents by absorbing their own stat buffs into her prf's in-combat buffs.

Weaknesses

Dated Statline

While Laegjarn's Níu has breathed life into her, her statline is still dated. 36 Speed is fairly low nowadays, and 32 Attack is virtually non-competitive. Her Defense is still decent, which makes her a great physical tank (particularly if backing her up with a Far Save ally), but with her low Attack, she struggles to ensure KOs.

Luckily, she can use Níu's effects to prop up her own statline, but being so reliant on buffs can make her combat annoying to set up.
