Assets

  • +ATK: Summer Laevatein’s most versatile stat is her Attack: though she lacks the Speed to perform as a conventional offensive hero, her impressive base Attack and a 4-point Asset offers fantastic opportunity to OHKO opponents.

Neutral

  • DEF: All of Laevatein’s defensive stats, including her defense, are valuable to her survivability. 31 base Defense is passable for a Bonfire Special if Laevatein forgoes Resistance boosting skills, and offers decent bulk against bows in addition to Iote’s Shield.

  • RES: Laevatein’s Resistance is arguably more valuable than her Defense due to her inherent weakness to bows without Iote’s Shield. With Mirror Impact and a Resistance Asset, Laevatein can reach a stellar Resistance stat to complement Specials like Iceberg and Glacies.

  • HP: Laevatein suffers from a 4-point Flaw in HP, so this stat is worth preserving whenever possible. Compared to a possible +Atk Asset, HP doesn’t offer enough to be a valuable Asset.

Flaws

  • -SPD: With an abysmal base 16 Speed, Laevatein’s Speed is worth dropping with a Flaw. Even with a +Spd Asset and considerable investment, Laevatein will struggle to reach a relevant speed tier.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Solar Blade (Blade Tome Offensive)

Preferred IV: +ATK / -SPD

  • +ATK is Laevatein’s optimal Asset, whereas -SPD is her optimal Flaw. Laevatein’s preferred stat distribution is therefore very straightforward: she should maximise her attack power while discarding her poor Speed.

Weapon: Gronnblade / Buoyboard (+Res)

  • With Gronnblade, Laevetain can supplement her impressive base Attack with extra true damage. Though dependant on her ability to gather buffs, the immense bonus damage offered by this weapon allows Laevatein to deal impressive Player Phase damage.
  • Her inherent weapon, the Buoyboard, while not as powerful as a Gronnblade, can allow Laevatein to fight more independently and offers some bonus Resistance.

Assist: Reposition / Flexible

  • Reposition is flexible and allows Laevatein to pull her enemies out of harm’s way. The Assist skill is flexible however, and should be decided in accordance to the needs of her team.

Special: Iceberg / Glacies / Bonfire

  • With Mirror Impact and her respectable base Resistance, Laevatein can do impressive damage with Iceberg or Glacies. These are her best options for sheer damage, and represent her ideal Special skills.
  • Glacies offers greater damage, but with Gronnblade Glacies will have a longer charge time. Iceberg is generally the superior option without allies who can reduce Laevatein’s charge time.
  • Bonfire may be worth considering if Armored Blow is equipped in Laevatein’s Seal slot. As the superior of her defensive stats, this skill can easily deal upwards of 15 true damage.

Passive A: Mirror Impact

  • Mirror Impact is accessible in Laevatein’s base kit, and offers a tremendous bonus to Attack and Resistance. This vastly improves Laevatein’s damage output, in addition to adding true damage to her Special skills. Mirror Impact, thanks to its strength and accessibility, is easily Laevatein’s best choice for a skill.

Passive B: Chill Res / Def/Res Link

  • Chill Res debuffs enemy heroes, allowing Laevatein to do even greater damage with her attacks and potentially KO more durable opponents.
  • Def/Res Link can be a budget alternative, though this skill offers no offensive benefits. Laevatein boasts respectable defensive stats however, so Def/Res Link can provide a helpful boost to her survivability.
  • For a budget option, Quick Riposte is accessible in Nah’s base kit and can be a strong alternative. While she misses out on the effects of Null C-Disrupt or Wrath, Nah can opt for a different Sacred Seal, opening up choices like Renewal or Brazen Atk/Res.

Passive C: Odd Attack Wave / Flexible

  • Odd Attack Wave is present in Laevatein’s base kit, offering a powerful bonus to her Attack on odd turns. Though unnecessary if Laevatein has support from a flier ally or a powerful dancer, Odd Attack Wave can help support Laevatein’s Gronnblade usage if she moves beyond support range.
  • Laevatein can make use of other useful C slot skills such as Hone or Goad Fliers, though these choices depend on Laevatein’s team composition.

Sacred Seal: Brazen Atk/Res / Atk/Res Bond / Armored Blow / Attack +3

  • Brazen Atk/Res offers an impressive bonus to Laevatein’s two most important stats, both of which will improve her damage output. Though it can be difficult to have Laevatein reach the HP threshold, doing so provides great benefits.
  • Atk/Res Bond offers a lesser bonus than Brazen Atk/Res without the HP threshold, though with the alternative of an adjacency requirement. This can be easier in a flier team
  • Armored Blow offers bonus Defense on initiation and bolsters the strength of any Defense-boosted Special skills Laevatein may opt for, such as Bonfire or Ignis. Alongside Mirror Impact, this skill can turn Laevatein into an incredibly durable attacker.
  • Attack +3 provides a flat bonus to Laevatein’s damage output without any external requirements. While not as powerful as other seals, it can provide an easily accessible and straight-forward boost.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Beachside Bulwark (Mixed Enemy Phase)

Preferred IV: +ATK or +DEF / -SPD

  • +ATK is a valuable Asset as it will greatly improve her damage output from regular attacks. Alternatively, +DEF can be taken to augment her physical bulk and offer bonus damage from Bonfire or Ignis Specials. -SPD is her preferred Flaw, as Laevatein’s Speed is well beyond salvation.

Weapon: Gronnowl (+Res) / Gronnowl (+Def) / Buoyboard (+Def)

  • Gronnowl is a powerful defensive tome that also augments Laevatein’s Attack. Provided you can supply Laevatein with allies, this tome is superior to the other defensive alternative, Gronnserpent. Regarding the refinement, this is a choice between Resistance and Defense, which should ultimately be decided by the chosen Special and Seal. However, it’s important to keep a healthy balance of both Defense and Resistance to ensure that Laevatein can deal with a wide range of threats.
  • If the Gronnowl is unavailable, Laevatein’s base tome is a passable alternative. The Buoyboard grants bonus Attack and Resistance, but demands that Laevatein is under the effect of a field buff like Hone or Rally. A Defense refinement is recommended as the tome already grants additional Resistance.

Assist: Reposition / Flexible

  • Reposition is flexible and allows Laevatein to pull her enemies out of harm’s way. The Assist skill is flexible however, and should be decided in accordance to the needs of her team.

Special: Bonfire / Ignis / Iceberg

  • Laevatein’s Defense can hit staggeringly high levels, so Bonfire is a natural choice for a Special. The damage of this Special can be augmented by her chosen Asset, weapon refinement, C slot skill and Sacred Seal, allowing for impressive bonus damage.
  • Ignis deals increased damage over Bonfire, but has a longer charge time. With that said, this tradeoff is very worthwhile if Laevatein’s allies can reduce her Special cooldown through skills like Ostia’s Pulse.

Passive A: Close Counter

  • In order to retaliate against melee enemies, Close Counter is a must. No other skill will grant this power, and Laevatein will struggle to combat a great deal of enemy heroes without it, so consider an offensive build if this skill is unavailable.

Passive B: Quick Riposte / Guard

  • Quick Riposte complements Laevatein’s Enemy Phase playstyle perfectly, allowing her to deal a follow-up attack when defending against enemy attackers despite her awful Speed. Quick Riposte grants Laevatein KO potential, and is a must-have skill.
  • Guard can be a passable alternative if Quick Riposte is taken in the seal slot, as it offers Laevatein improved defensive bulk by nullifying enemy Special charge. Though it shouldn’t take the place of Quick Riposte, Guard can be a valuable component of Laevatein’s skill set.

Passive C: Odd Attack Wave / Even Def Wave / Flexible

  • Odd Attack Wave offers Laevatein bonus stats and complements Buoyboard if Laevatein cannot take the Gronnowl. Though unnecessary if Laevatein receives a suitable Attack buff, Odd Attack Wave is simple to acquire.
  • Even Def Wave is a fair alternative to Odd Attack Wave that improves Laevatein’s Defense and improves her damage output on Special skills like Bonfire.
  • If Laevatein doesn’t require either of these skills due to ally support, her C slot skill should be chosen to fit the needs of her allies.

Sacred Seal: Iote’s Shield / Quick Riposte / Atk/Res Bond

  • Iote’s Shield ensures that archers cannot circumvent Laevatein’s defensive bulk through effective damage. While useless against non-archer opponents, Laevatein will be much more durable against teams with a bow user .
  • Quick Riposte is an essential part of Laevatein’s kit that can be taken in the Seal slot over the B slot. If passing on Iote’s Shield, Quick Riposte is highly recommended to free up Laevatein’s B slot for an additional defensive skill.
  • Bond skills synergise well with Gronnowl, and provide a hefty bonus to two of Laevatein’s stats. Atk/Res Bond can offer bonus damage and improve Laevatein’s mixed bulk, whereas Atk/Def improves Laevatein’s physical bulk further and grants bonus damage through Bonfire.

Introduction

Summer Laevatein, compared to other similar fliers like Spring Camilla and Bridal Sanaki, offers a very unique stat distribution. With a fantastic Attack stat, decent base HP and respectable mixed defenses, Laevatein can be a versatile hero capable of performing well as an attacker or defender. Her major weakness however, is her pitiful base Speed of 16, which prevents Laevatein from dealing follow-up attacks without skills.

Laevatein’s primary offensive role will be as a mage attacker capable of defeating enemy heroes in one hit. Complementary skills to augment Laevatein’s Attack while debuffing enemy Resistance will improve the likelihood of Laevatein’s KO, and team support is essential in enabling her tome of choice. As a defensive Enemy Phase hero, Laevatein can use her strong mixed bulk to shrug off enemy attacks. Augmenting her stats with easy to use adjacency boosting skills like Gronnowl and Bond skills will allow Laevatein to combat enemy attackers with ease. All in all, Summer Laevatein’s stat distribution makes her a versatile fighter.

Unfortunately, most of Laevatein’s drawbacks are a result of a lack of a PRF weapon and her limited access to skills due to her flier class. Laevatein cannot utilise powerful skills like Special Spiral or Null Follow-up, severely limiting her options. Laevatein must suffice with skills she has available to her, such as Chill Res or Quick Riposte depending on her build.

Strengths

Fantastic Attack

With a base Attack stat of 38, Laevatein can deal considerable damage to a wide range of enemy heroes, even threatening some heroes with a OHKO attack. Laevatein’s base Attack is without a doubt her most valuable asset.

Respectable Mixed Defenses

Laevatein has a decent base Defense of 31 and a middling base 26 Resistance. While not as strong as other mixed defenders, Laevatein can become a formidable presence after accounting for bonus stats offered by buffs and skills.

Flier Mobility

As a flier, Summer Laevatein can traverse difficult and impassable terrain that heroes of other classes cannot. This allows her to travel around combat maps more easily.

Weaknesses

Awful Speed

Summer Laevatein’s base Speed of 16 is awful: she will be unable to deal follow-up attacks naturally and must rely on skills like Quick Riposte to cover this weakness.

Poor Skill Access

As a mage with high Attack, there are many skills that Laevatein could take advantage of to improve her offensive capability such as Special Spiral or Null Follow-up. Unfortunately, these skills are barred to fliers, stifling her choices for offensive skills.

Weakness to Bows

Like other fliers, Laevatein shares the typical weakness to bows. This limits the usefulness of her defensive builds or forces her to take Iote’s Shield as a Sacred Seal whereas other heroes could opt to boost their stats further.
