IV Sets

Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.
HPATKSPDDEFRES

There’s no way around it with Red Cavalier: You HAVE to, under EVERY circumstance, obtain an Attack asset with a Defense flaw. With anything else, Red Cavalier is straight trash and should never be considered for use.

Assets

  • +ATK: As stated approximately 149 characters ago, Red Cavalier must obtain an Attack Asset no matter the cost. This is because Attack is a superasset, taking Red Cavalier up to 180 and thus making him even better at Arena scoring. He’ll hit harder too, but who cares? MORE ARENA SCORE!!

Neutral

  • HP/SPD/RES: These stats are fairly important on Red Cavalier. Important enough to warrant not taking as a Flaw, but not important enough to use as a Asset.

Flaws

  • -DEF: Actually Red Cavalier’s second most important stat after Attack, but given most mages like having Defense as their Flaw, that’s also what is recommended here.

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred IV: +ATK / -DEF

  • Weapon: Rauðrblade+

  • Assist: Harsh Command / Sing

  • Special: Reprisal / Vengeance

  • Passive A: Life and Death / Swift Sparrow

  • Passive B: Pass / Daggerbreaker

  • Passive C: Spur Spd/Res

  • Sacred Seal: Darting Stance

A set especially designed for Red Cavalier, this allows him to destroy any cocky dagger foes that think they have the capabilities to tank him just because they have high Resistance. It’ll also function decently as a general-use mage.

As very confusingly stated in the IV section, Red Cavalier’s only workable IV set is an Attack Asset with Defense Bane. This is very important to ensure that 180 BST. For weapon, Rauðrblade will allow Red Cavalier to take his buffs and turn them into additional damage. This will be very important for tricky common foes such as Summer Xander. Harsh Command is a utterly fantastic Assist for allowing Red Cavalier to support his allies. Sing is a decent budget alternative. His Special has to be either Reprisal or Vengeance, both of which allows him to enact justice on all the evildoers of this world (which are the dagger foes btw).

Life and Death is the go-to A slot. This gives him the power he needs to bring down threatening dagger foes like Matthew and Summer Frederick. Swift Sparrow is also a decent choice, but locks Red Cavalier into having to make the first attack. Pass is, as everyone surely knows, the greatest B slot to ever exist (except Special Fighter of course) and just brings Red Cavalier’s unstoppable power to new heights. Daggerbreaker can also be used, but really, he doesn’t need it. Spur Spd/Res is so that not only can be destroy any evil dagger foes, but his allies can too. Win Win. Finally, make sure to not include Darting Stance as the Sacred Seal so he can get more Speed on Enemy Phase.

Introduction

Axe Fighter may be the protagonist here, but don’t let that make you not pay any attention to his comrades in arms here. Case in point: Red Cavalier. A proud man that irrationally despises all dagger units, Red Cavalier will make for an extremely powerful unit.

As a character, Red Cavalier stands out from the crowd by having an incredibly well fleshed out and deep and sorrowful and joyful and exciting and intimate and REDACTED back story. Believe it or not, Red Cavalier was once a simple and happy bloke, living a peaceful life in the Danish town of Svaneke. But once upon a time, tragedy strikes and a sentient dagger burns his house to the ground, including his prestigious Amiibo collection, thus leading to Red Cavalier making a vow to destroy all daggers in his path. Truly a deep and emotional journey that’ll surely give anyone a sense of pride and accomplishment.

As a Red Mage Cavalier, Red Cavalier has to compete with Leo. Now, this is an incredibly tough competition given Leo’s outstanding statline. But, Red Cavalier managed to just push through and beat out Leo thanks to having 4 more HP, 9 more Attack, 13 more Speed, 5 more Defense, and 3 more Resistance.

Overall, Red Cavalier will prove to be very effective in combat. While he does suffer from zero mobility due to being a cavalier, this weakness is adequately offset by his decent statline and the raw power of dagger hatred. Build him well and Red Cavalier will bring down the grand hammer of judgment upon all who oppose him.

Except Axe Fighter obviously.

Strengths

Amazing BST

With a whopping 179 BST, Red Cavalier very notably sets himself apart from the other magical users in the game. This BST allows him to step toe-to-toe in Arena scoring with other top scoring units, though his lack of a personal weapon makes him trash at Arena scoring.

Cavalry Strengths

As a Cavalier, Red Cavalry gets the benefit of three whole points of movement! This makes him a great choice to use on Aether Raids defense alongside Brave Lyn, Reinhardt, Brave Veronica, Ophelia, and Legendary Azura. Unfortunately, Legendary Azura’s Grey Waves won’t boost his movement range, but not to worry. Our undercover spies at Intelligent Systems have confirmed that Legendary Olivia is coming next month as a cavalry refresher with a unique version of dance that grants cavaliers with two extra point of movement! Isn’t that wonderful?

Weaknesses

Literally Zero Movement Because Trenches Exist

It’s such a shame that trenches exist, because they render Red Cavalier completely unusable. If there’s even a single trench tile on the map, Red Cavalier just becomes too scared to move and will not move under any circumstance. Definitely avoid taking Red Cavalier to battles where a stray trench tile may swoop in at any moment and boop him on the cheek.
