IV Sets

Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.
HPATKSPDDEFRES

Est has two good stats to her name: her Attack and her Resistance. Everything else is average to poor and is generally disregarded in her most popular builds.

Assets

  • +ATK: Her most popular stat to increase and the best by far when looking to maximize her effectiveness with Whitewing Spear- Est reaches 38 natural Attack with an Asset, one of the highest Attack caps of the blue fliers.
  • +RES: Alternatively, Est can take a Resistance boon with the intent to land multiple Ploy skills. Still, 32 Resistance isn’t what it used to be and Est may miss valuable debuffs with her Resistance stat.

Neutral

  • SPD: 30 Speed isn’t doing Est any favors and is one of the poorer Speed stats among blue fliers.  If you want to invest in Speed, Cordelia or Shanna would be better options- with Est, it’s best to keep it neutral to avoid -4 decrease. Note that if using Est specifically against armored units, then she may be able to naturally double with her neutral Speed stat.
  • DEF: With a +4 Asset in Defense, it’s tempting to try and make Est a mixed tank, however, 28 Defense is still very limiting and generally not worth taking over her other stats.

Flaws

  • -HP: Despite being a +4 Asset, HP is Est’s dump stat as she is not meant to be attacked in the Enemy Phase at all.  It’s easy to let go of HP for some of her more attractive stats.

  • Passive B: Chill Def / Flier Formation / Hit and Run
  • Passive C: Flier Guidance / Odd Atk Wave / Fortify Fliers
  • Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade / Def Ploy

This set operates under the assumption that she will have flier allies to position near her in order to activate the effects of Whitewing Spear so that she can operate her pseudo-Brave effect- if she is not under these effects than her effectiveness as a damage dealer drops off dramatically and she would be far better off with a typical Brave Lance.

Est’s infamous Brave Lance has a pretty major update with her Whitewing Spear refine and is one of the hardest-hitting budget units in the game. With a 3-4 star availability, finding an Est with the proper IVs isn’t too difficult, and the basic skills for her infamous Brave Lance build (Death Blow 3, Glimmer) are generally easy to allocate on a budget and her Whitewing Spear set makes it even easier to build her, as she does not have to inherit a weapon.

Chill Defense or either of the Flier movement skills are more difficult to obtain but helps her out monumentally, potentially giving her an additional 14 damage on the opponent with the highest Defense as well as helping her team to position more easily around her in order for her to gain the most effect from her prf weapon.

Heavy Blade/Glimmer is an excellent combination for Est’s Seal and Special slots that allows her to independently hit a high damage ceiling when she double attacks by allowing her to activate Glimmer in a single initiation before her enemy can retaliate.

Flier Guidance and Flier Formation are both powerful positioning tools that can help Est and her teammates to easier fulfill the positioning requirements needed for her Whitewing Spear. As an alternative, you can use a self-buff, such as Odd Atk Wave to push her Attack even higher and make her easier to use without an ally buff.

While Est’s most famous build involves auto-doubles with Brave effects, it isn’t her only claim to fame. She can operate reasonably well without a Flier team if she invests in her defensive abilities. For a more specialized investment, Est can also be a fantastic anti-armor unit and can also effectively counter sword units as well.  For this reason, she can prove to be incredibly valuable in Arena Assault and in general use.

Depending on her opponent, Est utilizes Death Blow or Atk/Def Bond in order to engage her armored foes in the Phase of her choosing. It may seem counterintuitive to use Bond skills along with Death Blow, but this allows Est more flexibility in what Phase she can engage armored units in depending on whether they have Bold or Vengeful Fighter or Quick Riposte.

Even with an effective weapon, the raw stats of armors can make it very difficult for Est to kill against the triangle- she’ll have issues with units like Surtr, Legendary Hector, and Brave Ephraim. These can be resolved by giving her flying allies for a Triangle Attack, and for some of them she can even double naturally, but she has to be careful that she isn’t KO’d in a single hit from these powerhouses.

With her B slot, Chill Def can significantly alter her matchups vs armors, as the reduction in Defense makes her effective weapon hit even harder. If you’d rather have her help with buffing both allies and herself, Atk/Def Link is also a strong choice, as it gives you the flexibility to utilize Est or a teammate or position Est with buffs in the Enemy Phase. The option of Swordbreaker helps Est to quickly shut down Zelgius if he manages to survive past his first hit, in addition, it increases Est’s survivability against non-armored sword units and helps her to secure valuable KOs against units like Ayra and Mia.

Introduction

While Est enjoyed her fifteen minutes of fame during the release of Defense Ploy as a skill, subsequent skills have made her stronger despite her popularity fading into obscurity. Her high Attack and Resistance are key in allowing her to utilize her famous Brave build or conversely letting her one-shot armor units on a budget.

Because of this, Est can prove to be a valuable unit to have in your barracks, even if her utility is a bit more specialized than some of the other units. Her lack of Speed or Defense prevents her from triumphing at the top of a tier list, but she’s still plenty useful in her own right.

Est’s recent refine into the Whitewing Spear isn’t quite as groundbreaking for her as it was for Catria, but it’s still significant in that the Spear gives her higher damage vs armors and, if used in a flier formation, Est can kill high-tier armors against the triangle with a double strike with an effective weapon and high Attack stat.

Strengths

High Attack and Resistance

Est’s high Attack instantly gives her the viability to run an offensive set with the Whitewing Spear, regardless of the rest of her stats.

Her Resistance is also high enough to allow her to use a myriad of ploys against her opponent for valuable debuffs.

This also makes her decent at dueling dragons such as both Tikis and Nowi.

Good availability

Being available as a 3 star since launch means that if you summon on blue orbs with any kind of regularity, you’ve probably seen her face in your summoning sessions.

Est is easy to merge and easy to get optimal IVs for, making her a very F2P friendly unit.

Weaknesses

Low Speed and Defense

Her Speed and Defense stats are lower than average, which makes her difficult to use with a traditional dueling set since she can’t typically sustain two hits from an opponent and she doesn’t have the Speed to double.

She mitigates this by running a purely offensive set with a Brave effect, which is also incredibly vulnerable in Enemy Phase.

This makes her Enemy Phase all around rather poor, as her defensive stats are too low to be utilized as a proper mixed tank without careful calculation and investment.

Reliant on Attack stat

Est was only known for her Brave Lance build, and for good reason: her Attack is generally the only thing she has to lean back on.

Even her anti-armor Whitewing Spear build is similar, as she needs to one-shot her opponents quickly with her high Attack before they can eliminate her.

If she cannot one-shot her opponents, it’s very likely that she will not survive the subsequent Enemy Phase.
