  • Since this build will see Keaton taking enemy attacks, both Atk and Def make for suitable boons to take.

Special: Bonfire / Draconic Aura / Ignis / Dragon Fang / Sol

  • The choice of Special is set up so that Keaton will always retaliate with an activation on his brave attack. The choice between a Special with an activation cooldown of 3 such as Bonfire vs one with 4 such as Ignis will depend on whether or not Keaton has the support for getting his Special cooldown acceleration on foe’s attack (through running skills such as Steady Breath or support through skills such as Worldbreaker). 
  • You’ll still get the extra damage when activating a healing Special, making Sol something worth considering for better sustainability. 
    • Note: you’ll be activating Sol on your second brave hit in which the first may have already left the enemy at too low HP to heal much off of.

Passive A: Atk/Def Boosting A Slot

  • The nature of a build specializing in close range and paired with a save skill synergizes perfectly with Unity Skills, which first grant a boost to key stats when within 2 spaces of an ally as well as converting any visible debuffs to further buffs during combat.
  • Other Enemy Phase-centric skills such as Sturdy Stance which has the Guard effect or Atk/Def Ideal which grants the highest in combat stat boost also make for suitable A slots. 

Passive B: Lull Atk/Def / Null C-Disrupt

  • Lull skills such as Lull Atk/Def make for an effective B slot option by neutralizing buffs on the foe’s target stats as well as inflicting an in-combat debuff. 
  • Null C-Disrupt checks any of the foe’s skills that would otherwise prevent Keaton from counterattacking.
    • Particularly helpful on a slow unit like Keaton, as the aforementioned sweep skills are often Spd checks. 

Passive C: Joint Drive Skills / Smoke Skills / Flexible

  • Joint Drive skills provide a buff for both Keaton and any allies within 2 spaces.
  • Smoke skills are very effective when taking on multiple opponents. Atk Smoke is particularly effective in reducing the damage of opponents around the target after combat by granting the unit a status that prevents foes from making a follow-up attack.
  • The C skill can otherwise be replaced as needed to suit the team.

Sacred Seal: Atk/Def Boosting Seals / Steady Breath / Hardy Bearing / Deflect Skills

  • Atk/Def Solo or any Stance skill that boosts Keaton’s key stats makes for an effective Sacred Seal option.
  • Steady Breath enables the use of 4 cooldown Specials as well as giving a small stat boost. 
  • Hardy Bearing checks any foes that rely on skills that change attack priority such as Desperation and Vantage.
  • Deflect skills act as a safety net against brave weapon effects or other consecutive attacks.

  • Since this playstyle is generally make or break by the unit’s ability to take out their opponent on the first counterattack, Keaton will want a boon in Atk above all else.

  • This set’s strictly offensive approach makes a boon in Atk ideal.

  • Wings is Mercy is a staple of Galeforce-based builds, as it allows the unit to move adjacent to any ally under 50% HP to continue a chain of units defeating as many opponents in one turn as possible. 

Passive C: Time’s Pulse / Odd Tempest / Flexible

  • Time’s Pulse allows for an easier Galeforce activation by lowering your Special cooldown when it is at its max value at the start of turn.
  • Odd Tempest grants you an additional space of movement on odd-numbered turns.

Sacred Seal: Fury

  • As a direct synergy with the Wings of Mercy playstyle, running Fury in both the A and S slot will have Keaton take a significant amount of damage after combat. Following his second combat through Galeforce, Keaton will ideally have taken enough out of combat damage to enable another ally to warp next to him through Wings of Mercy and continue the chain.

Strengths

Exceptional Attack

A base Attack stat of 41 corrected for a gen 3 unit, with a superboon, and a beast transformation translates into one big unga bunga.

Wolfskin Fang

A brave weapon that puts all its points into hitting harder, with Special acceleration cooldown, the Tempo effect nullifying any Guard effect, and true damage upon unit’s Special activation on top of an Atk/Def stat boost for Keaton and Atk/Def Dull on the opponent coming together to reduce the foe to dust should they have to take a direct hit from Keaton.

Impressive Physical Bulk

Solid values in Defense and HP make Keaton capable of receiving physical attacks as well as effectively using Def-scaling Specials. 

Beast

Beast unit status allows for unique buffs to the unit upon meeting the transformation requirement.

Weaknesses

Terrible Speed and Resistance

With both Speed and Resistance sitting at low-end values of 24 (-5 with Wolfskin Fang equipped) and 19 respectively, Keaton will find himself taking significant damage from magical attacks as well as getting doubled by most opponents.

Transformation requirement

As a beast unit, Keaton will need to meet the condition of adjacency to only beast/dragon allies or solo at the start of turn in order to get the most out of his weapon.
