Assets

  • +ATK: Osian relies on his damage output for healing in order to maintain Vouge’s effect, so increasing his Attack will also result in increased survivability.

  • +RES: Increasing Osian’s Resistance can be helpful for weathering heavy magic damage, particularly if using him in Aether Raids.

Neutral

  • SPD: While Osian’s base 36 Speed is solid, he generally gets more mileage out of his other stats while utilizing his Vouge.

  • DEF: Osian’s Defense is best left at neutral in order to minimize the amount of incoming damage that might knock him out of Vouge’s HP threshold.

Flaws

  • -HP: While a -HP Flaw will slightly decrease how much damage Osian can take before getting knocked out of Vouge’s HP threshold, it will impact him the least out of all of his stats.

Noontime C Pulse Smoke 3
Alternate: Atk Smoke 3
IVsSSwift Stance 2
Alternate: Quick Riposte 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK or +RES  / -HP

  • Increasing Osian’s Attack or Resistance is ideal for his survivability in Aether Raids.

Weapon: Vouge

  • Osian’s Vouge allows him to combine the fantastic utility of being able to counterattack ranged enemies while also granting him reduced Special cooldown.

  • The trade-off of needing to stay at or above 50% HP isn’t a huge detriment since he’ll typically want to stay healthy regardless.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Noontime

  • Osian has the right idea with his base kit, as Noontime will allow him to heal enough to greatly increase his survivability with his counterattacks.

Passive A: Distant Def 4 / Mirror Stance 3

  • While Osian’s base Mirror Stance 3 is fantastic, he will get a ton of mileage out of Distant Def 4 if available as neutralizing enemy buffs will greatly reduce their impact.

  • If Distant Def 4 is unavailable, then his base Mirror Stance 3 is perfectly suitable since increasing both Attack and Resistance is fantastic for Aether Raids. Reducing Special charge generation for his enemy is just icing on the cake.

Passive B: Null C-Disrupt / Null Follow-Up / Wrath

  • Osian’s status as an infantry means that he has access to Null C-Disrupt and Null Follow-Up, both of which can drastically affect his matchups against enemies utilizing skills that are countered by them.

  • Alternatively, Osian’s base Wrath is a fine option for increasing his damage output and subsequent healing with Noontime whenever he is knocked below 75% HP.

Passive C: Pulse Smoke / Atk Smoke

  • Pulse Smoke is an incredibly potent skill that allows Osian to single-handedly shut down Infantry Pulse-based defense setups.

  • Atk Smoke is a decent budget option for reducing incoming damage if Pulse Smoke is unavailable.

Sacred Seal: Swift Stance / Fierce Stance / Quick Riposte

  • Swift Stance is ideal as Speed and Resistance are both fantastic stats for Osian to utilize in Aether Raids.

  • Fierce Stance is a decent alternative if Swift Stance is unavailable, as increasing Osian’s damage output allows him to be more likely to take out enemies in a single hit. This works best if utilizing Mirror Stance 3 and Wrath for maximum damage.

  • Finally, Quick Riposte is a decent option for ensuring follow-up attacks, but is generally not necessary with the right support since Osian has decent Speed already.

Fast Hands (Defensive Tank)

Vouge A Bonus Doubler 3
Alternate: Atk/Spd Solo 3
Reposition B Close Call 3
Noontime C Pulse Smoke 3
Alternate: Atk Smoke 3
IVsSSwift Stance 2
Alternate: Darting Stance 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD / -HP

  • This build is based around stacking Speed in order to prevent natural doubles and minimize incoming damage with Close Call, so a +SPD Asset is ideal.

Passive A: Bonus Doubler / Atk/Spd Solo

  • Since Osian has built-in Distant Counter with his Vouge, he can make great use of Bonus Doubler to get a big boost to all of his stats with the right buffs. This is particularly useful since it allows him to stack even more Speed, something he would struggle to do with other typical A skills.

  • Note that since Bonus Doubler relies on field buffs, Osian is particularly vulnerable to Panic. His relatively unimpressive HP stat makes him particularly vulnerable since he’s liable to get hit by something like Panic Ploy or Panic Manor (in Aether Raids).

  • If Panic is a concern, then Osian can also utilize Atk/Spd Solo for a more reliable boost to his Attack and Speed at the cost of losing boosts to his defenses.

Passive B: Close Call

  • Close Call is what enables Osian to turn his Speed into significant damage reduction - if he has 10 more Speed than his opponent, then he can reduce incoming damage by 40%.

Sacred Seal: Swift Stance / Darting Stance

  • Both Swift Stance and Dartring Stance are useful for Osian, and the choice between the two is mostly up to preference. Darting Stance gives slightly more Speed which can give Osian a noticeable edge with Close Call and preventing natural doubles, but Swift Stance’s extra Resistance can be helpful as well.

Vouge in Vogue (Defensive Tank)

Build by
Vouge A Fierce Breath
Alternate: Mirror Stance 3
Reposition B Special Spiral 3
Aether C Even Atk Wave 3
IVsSFierce Stance 3
Alternate: Quick Riposte 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

This build works best if Osian has support from his team in the form of Infantry Pulse, Ostia’s Pulse (from Legendary Hector), or Velouria in order to reduce his initial cooldown of Aether to 2 to kickstart the chain.

Preferred IV: +ATK / -HP

  • This build relies heavily on Osian’s damage output, so +ATK is by far the best choice.

Special: Aether

  • Thanks to combining the Slaying effect with Distant Counter in Vogue, Osian can utilize either a Breath skill or Breath support (from Infantry Breath or Brave Lucina) to instantly activate Aether on his first counterattack when combined with Special Spiral. This results in fantastic damage output and survivability.

Passive A: Fierce Breath / Mirror Stance 3

  • Fierce Breath is ideal to not only increase Osian’s Special charge generation to allow him to instantly charge up Aether, but also to increase his overall damage output.

  • Steady Breath and Warding Breath are also viable options, as the Special charge increase is the most important part.

  • If Osian has access to Breath support from either Infantry Breath or Brave Lucina, he can opt to use his base Mirror Stance 3 instead for more damage and utility.

Passive B: Special Spiral

  • Special Spiral is a key component of this build, as it allows Osian to repeatedly activate Aether each combat as his first counterattack.

Passive C: Even Atk Wave / Flexible

  • Osian’s C skill isn’t particularly important for this build, so it can be replaced as needed to suit the team.

  • If bringing this build into Aether Raids, then Pulse Smoke or Atk Smoke are fantastic choices as always.

Sacred Seal: Fierce Stance / Quick Riposte

  • Fierce Stance is ideal to maximize Osian’s damage output, as being able to constantly activate Aether means that increased damage output will lead to more healing.

  • Quick Riposte is a decent option if Fierce Stance is unavailable, but is considerably less effective.

Introduction

Osian’s claim to fame is his Vouge, which combines the fantastic utility of having built-in Distant Counter with an accelerated Special cooldown count. The 50% HP threshold can be a bit problematic if he is not running a sustain-based build, but currently the most effective builds tend to utilize sustain. This allows him to pull off many different strategies and builds that most other units simply cannot, like Noontime sustain builds for Aether Raids with a powerful A skill like Distant Def 4 or his base Mirror Stance 3. He can also mimic Legendary Ike’s Radiant Aether by utilizing the regular Aether Special, including a combination with Special Spiral and a Breath skill (or support from Infantry Breath or Brave Lucina) for instant Special activations.

Aside from the Vouge, Osian also has a strong statline with no real weaknesses thanks to his excellent 173 BST. He also comes with a fantastic base kit that makes him ready for usage with no investment, making him a rather convenient unit if pulled. Overall, Osian is a fantastic unit that can definitely pull his weight in a team.

Strengths

Vouge

By combining Distant Counter with a Slaying effect, Osian can pull off extremely effective builds like Noontime with Distant Def 4 or Mirror Stance 3, or even instant Aether activations with Special Spiral. The 50% HP threshold is relatively easy to manage as long as he is utilizing a sustain-based build.

Strong Base Kit

Osian has a strong base kit with strong synergy, allowing him to be perfectly functional with zero investment.

Infantry

As an infantry unit, Osian has access to powerful infantry-exclusive skills like Null C-Disrupt and Null Follow-Up that offer him advantages that other movement types lack.

Weaknesses

Vouge’s HP Threshold

While Vouge’s HP Threshold generally shouldn’t be an issue as long as Osian has the proper support, it can potentially be a downfall if he does end up falling below 50% HP. This can be particularly problematic if he falls below 50% HP as a result of something like an AoE Special from a ranged unit, as he will be unable to counterattack - this will likely result in a failed offense in Aether Raids.
