Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.
HPATKSPDDEFRES

Assets

  • +SPD: This is generally optimal for the majority of Brave Lyn’s builds as it allows her to better leverage her decent Speed for a stronger offense. A +SPD Asset is even better if using Brave Lyn’s refined Mulagir, since she needs to have more Speed than her opponent to activate the stat boosts.

  • +ATK: Increasing Brave Lyn’s Attack is always a safe bet, though it is generally outshone by +SPD with few exceptions.

Flaws

  • -HP/DEF/RES: A Flaw in any of these stats will result in Brave Lyn losing enough bulk to be at risk of getting KO’d in a single hit from an enemy counterattack. However, increasing her offenses is so important that it’s worth the risk, especially considering that she has multiple ways of increasing her overall survivability. The difference between -HP, -DEF, and -RES is fairly minimal; however, avoiding -RES is highly recommended if using Brave Lyn for Aether Raids offense.

Recommended
Firesweep Bow+ A Swift Sparrow (2 or 3)
Alternate: Atk/Spd Solo 3
Reposition B Lull Spd/Def 3
Alternate: Chill Spd 3
Luna
Alternate: Moonbow
C Atk Smoke 3
Alternate: Hone Cavalry
IVsSDarting Blow 3
Alternate: Quickened Pulse

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD / -HP or -DEF or -RES

  • Since this is a Firesweep Bow set, Brave Lyn’s Flaw doesn’t really matter since she really shouldn’t be getting attacked at all. It’s very important to increase her Speed as much as possible to help ensure that she can double her opponents to maximize her damage output.

Weapon: Firesweep Bow+

  • This is the defining part of the build, as a Firesweep weapon allows Brave Lyn to focus entirely on offense while ignoring her relatively poor defenses.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Luna / Moonbow

  • Luna is the ideal Special for this build, since Brave Lyn will be able to activate it every other combat assuming that she can double her opponents.

  • Moonbow is a good option if Brave Lyn has some form of Special charge acceleration, such as the Quickened Pulse Seal, Ostia’s Pulse support from Legendary Hector, or the Heavy Blade Seal.

Passive A: Swift Sparrow (2 or 3) / Atk/Spd Solo / Atk/Spd Push (3 or 4) / Life and Death

  • Since Firesweep Bow allows Brave Lyn to not have to worry about counterattacks from most enemies, she’s free to pick the A skill that gives her the most raw offensive stats.

  • The choice between the listed options here is mostly up to availability and a bit of player preference.

Passive B: Lull Spd/Def / Lull Atk/Def / Chill Spd / Cancel Affinity

  • The Lull series of B skills are easily Brave Lyn’s best options, since most other traditional B skills like Desperation are pointless with a Firesweep Bow. Lull Spd/Def is ideal to both effectively increase Brave Lyn’s Speed as well as her damage output, but Lull Atk/Def is also worth consideration if running the Heavy Blade Seal on her.

  • One of the Chill debuffs like Chill Spd can be a good budget option for a bit of team support as well as improving Brave Lyn’s own combat performance if she attacks the debuffed target.

  • Finally, Cancel Affinity is an option to allow Brave Lyn to deal with Triangle Adept Raven tome users; however, this is a highly niche option at best due to the relative rarity of those units.

Passive C: Atk Smoke / Hone Cavalry / Flexible

  • Brave Lyn’s C skill isn’t particularly important for this build and can be swapped as necessary.

Sacred Seal: Darting Blow / Quickened Pulse / Heavy Blade

  • Darting Blow is a fantastic Seal option for Brave Lyn since increasing her Speed is so important for her overall damage output with a Firesweep Bow.

  • The Quickened Pulse and Heavy Blade Seals are both decent options to make Moonbow a viable Special on Brave Lyn, since they both make it easier for her to activate it immediately. Heavy Blade works best when Brave Lyn has team support and some strong investment, because her base Attack isn’t high enough to consistently activate it otherwise.

Reposition B Vantage 3
Alternate: Lull Atk/Def 3
Sol
Alternate: Noontime
C Pulse Smoke 3
Alternate: Atk Smoke 3
IVsSDistant Def 3
Alternate: Darting Stance 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD or +ATK or +RES / -HP

  • +SPD is likely ideal to maximize the chance that Brave Lyn can activate the stat boosts from refined Mulagir. However, +ATK or +RES are also viable options for Aether Raids.

Weapon: Mulagir (+Eff)

  • The combination of Dull Ranged, mixed phase stat boosts, and Brave Lyn’s status as a colorless unit make her a good candidate for an Aether Raids superunit.

  • Since Mulagir is a bow, Brave Lyn is especially good at handling flierball defensive setups.

  • Note that Brave Lyn can be a bit risky to use as an answer to all flierball setups since she is a cavalry unit with no access to Null C-Disrupt.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Sol / Noontime / Moonbow

  • Brave Lyn’s Special is heavily dependent on team composition and player preference. Sol and Noontime are both strong options for increasing Brave Lyn’s survivability, but may not be strictly necessary with a Vantage setup. However, with the right team support, Brave Lyn can function as a tank, making the sustain from Sol or Noontime a must-have.

  • Noontime works particularly well if pairing Brave Lyn with Brave Lucina, since she will be able to activate it on every counterattack.

  • Moonbow works better with Vantage setups since every little bit of damage counts, particularly when initially attacking to set up the Vantage chain.

Passive A: Close Counter

  • Close Counter is extremely important on a ranged Aether Raids superunit, as otherwise they will be unable to counterattack against melee attackers.

Passive B: Vantage / Lull Atk/Def / Lull Spd/Def / Flexible

  • Vantage is a very powerful skill in Aether Raids due to the high prevalence of glass cannon nuker units on defense. It can be worth running even with Noontime or Sol, particularly if using Brave Lyn as an answer to flierball setups.

  • Lull Atk/Def and Lull Spd/Def are a bit redundant against ranged enemies due to the Dull Ranged effect of refined Mulagir, but the combat debuff portion is always extremely useful if opting to not run Vantage on Brave Lyn.

  • Brave Lyn’s B skill is extremely important to determining how she will function as a unit, but she actually has quite a bit of flexibility in her options. Some other decent options include Dull Close (to negate debuffs on all enemies) and Sacae’s Blessing (to make it safer for her to attack sword/lance/axe units with Distant Counter, particularly if they are running Vantage).

Passive C: Pulse Smoke / Atk Smoke / Def Smoke / Savage Blow

  • Pulse Smoke and Atk Smoke are the ideal C slots for use in Aether Raids to help reduce incoming damage significantly.

  • For Vantage setups, Def Smoke or Savage Blow are better options to increase Brave Lyn’s overall damage output.

Sacred Seal: Distant Def / Darting Stance / Brazen Atk/Res

  • Brave Lyn’s Sacred Seal is also highly dependent on what kind of playstyle she is using in Aether Raids.

  • For a tank setup, Distant Def or Darting Stance are both fantastic options; Darting Stance is notable since it makes it harder for Brave Lyn to get doubled, makes it easier for her to keep refined Mulagir’s stat boosts active, and also makes it more likely that she can double her opponent.

  • For Vantage setups, Fierce Stance or one of the Brazen Seals will work very well for increasing her damage output.

Swift Sacaen (Offensive Nuke)

Build by
Mulagir (+Eff)
Alternate: Brave Bow+
A Swift Sparrow (2 or 3)
Alternate: Fury (3 or 4)
Reposition B Lull Spd/Def 3
Alternate: Sacae's Blessing
Moonbow
Alternate: Luna
C Atk Smoke 3
Alternate: Hone Cavalry
IVsSDarting Blow 3
Alternate: Sturdy Blow 2

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD / -HP or +ATK / -HP

  • Maximizing Brave Lyn’s Speed is crucial when utilizing her refined Mulagir since she needs to have more Speed than her opponent to activate the stat boosts.

  • +SPD is also good for Brave Bow builds to help Brave Lyn achieve quad strikes; however, +ATK is also worth considering to focus more on her first two attacks.

  • -HP has a slight edge over -DEF or -RES since it only reduces Brave Lyn’s bulk by -3 instead of by -4.

Weapon: Mulagir (+Eff) / Brave Bow+

  • Mulagir’s refine is arguably the most underwhelming of all the CYL 1 refines, but it’s still a significant improvement. Combining the Dull Ranged effect with a big stat boost if Brave Lyn has more Speed than her opponent gives her a fantastic boost in offensive power.

  • Outside of Brave Lyn’s refined Mulagir, a standard Brave Bow is still a viable option on her due to her decent offensive stats.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Moonbow / Luna

  • Due to the refined Mulagir’s Dull Ranged effect, Brave Lyn is at her best when fighting ranged units. This means that she can easily activate Moonbow against them since they will be able to counterattack.

  • Luna is a higher damage alternative that works best when combined with Sacae’s Blessing or a Brave Bow, since Brave Lyn will generally avoid a lot of counterattacks with either of those (or both).

Passive A: Swift Sparrow (2 or 3) / Fury (3 or 4) / Death Blow (3 or 4) / Atk/Spd Solo

  • Brave Lyn can use most of the offensive A skills to great effect, though she should try to steer clear of the ones with significant downsides like Life and Death or Brazen Atk/Spd.

  • Death Blow (3 or 4) is really only worth consideration if utilizing a Brave Bow and focusing entirely on Brave Lyn’s first two attacks with it.

Passive B: Lull Spd/Def / Sacae’s Blessing / Desperation

  • While the buff negation portion of Lull Spd/Def is somewhat redundant with the Dull Ranged effect of the refined Mulagir, the combat debuff portion is always extremely useful to have.

  • Sacae’s Blessing and Desperation are both decent alternatives to Lull Spd/Def as both significantly improve Brave Lyn’s ability to handle multiple combats by denying enemy counterattacks.

Passive C: Atk Smoke / Hone Cavalry / Flexible

  • Brave Lyn’s C skill isn’t particularly important for this build and can be swapped as necessary.

Sacred Seal: Darting Blow / Sturdy Blow / Quickened Pulse

  • Darting Blow is ideal to maximize Brave Lyn’s Speed in order to keep her refined Mulagir’s stat boosts active.

  • Sturdy Blow is a good alternative to Darting Blow in that it offers Brave Lyn additional damage as well as a bit more survivability, though lacking the Speed from Darting Blow runs the risk of not being fast enough to activate refined Mulagir’s stat boosts. Sturdy Blow also works particularly well with an Attack-focused Brave Bow build.

  • Finally, Quickened Pulse is a decent option when combined with a Brave Bow to allow Brave Lyn to immediately activate Moonbow on her first combat.

Introduction

While Brave Lyn was a highly oppressive unit when she was first released due to her strong offenses, high mobility, and Sacae’s Blessing, she’s fallen from grace recently due to overall stat inflation (such as armored units tending to have incredibly high Defense stats). The CYL 1 refines gave Brave Ike, Lucina, and Roy a much-needed boost, but Brave Lyn’s refined Mulagir feels fairly lackluster in comparison. However, this doesn’t mean that she’s not able to keep up with them, since she was arguably in a decent spot already before the refines.

Brave Lyn is most notable for her decent offensive spread and cavalry mobility, enabling her to equip a Firesweep Bow and be a strong and safe offensive threat. Her access to Sacae’s Blessing allows her to extend this safety to other weapons like Mulagir or Brave Bow, giving her a strong niche to set her apart from the other archers. Mulagir’s refine makes Brave Lyn a bit stronger in general, but the most pronounced effect of it is that it makes her a much better unit to use in Aether Raids.

Overall, Brave Lyn is nowhere near the powerhouse she was on her initial release, but she is still a strong unit when placed in the right scenarios. She benefits greatly from team support and is fully capable of serving as a potent offensive threat.

Strengths

Mulagir

While base Mulagir is rather underwhelming, the refined version gives Brave Lyn some fantastic tools in the form of Dull Ranged and strong stat boosts if she has more Speed than her opponent.

Sacae’s Blessing

Brave Lyn’s unique B skill gives her a fantastic safety net when dealing with sword/lance/axe units with Distant Counter by negating their counterattacks.

Decent Offenses

While 33/35 offenses aren’t super impressive by today’s standards, they’re still good enough that Brave Lyn can present a notable offensive threat.

Cavalry

Being a cavalry unit is important for Brave Lyn, as it gives her excellent mobility and reach as a ranged unit. It also gives her access to class-specific buffs like Hone Cavalry and allows her to maintain access to the Lull debuff skills (unlike fliers).

Weaknesses

Null C-Disrupt

One of Brave Lyn’s main methods of surviving combat is through negating enemy counterattacks with either a Firesweep Bow or Sacae’s Blessing; however, these are foiled by units running Null C-Disrupt, causing those units to be huge threats to Brave Lyn’s survivability.

Dragons

Brave Lyn’s lopsided defenses and her status as a ranged unit make her highly vulnerable to dragon units with refined breath weapons, since they can target her weaker physical bulk. Dragons also manage to bypass Sacae’s Blessing, though they’ll still need Null C-Disrupt to negate Firesweep Bow.
