  • Given that many people may not want to replace his innate weapon, this set will attempt to take advantage of it to it’s fullest potential. Since Spirited Axe+ can provide accelerated cooldown if the foe lands a hit on the unit, we can opt for a set that allows Basilio to retaliate with heavy damage, and given that he has high Atk and good Def, one option that comes to mind is Ignis spamming. Of course, if you would rather swap out his weapon, but run a similar set, you can opt for Slaying Axe+. I’ll be providing sets for both options.

  • Depending on the weapon being used, Basilio can either opt for Ignis or Bonfire. Ignis will synergize better with Special Spiral and Spirited Axe+ while Bonfire will synergize better with Slaying Axe+ and Steady Breath. Simply put, it’ll be based on the rest of the kit.

  • Anything that increases Basilio’s overall Atk and Def is going to be the go-to option for him. Sturdy Stance is a solid option as it increases both of the desired stats and can inflict Guard on the foe, depending on the variant. Meanwhile, he can opt for Close Def instead if you would rather stack up his Def even more. However, Sturdy Stance is going to provide more overall damage output, but if that’s not an option then Close Def is a good substitute.

  • To set up the Ignis spam chain, Basilio will want to run Special Spiral so that Ignis resets to two cooldown after every combat. This can then allow him to trigger Ignis on every retaliation with Spirited Axe+ as that’ll accelerate his cooldown even more. Meanwhile, if you plan to run Slaying Axe+, he can instead opt for Quick Riposte so that he can potentially trigger Bonfire twice per combat, provided that he doubles.

  • Time’s Pulse will be essential to setting up a Special Spiral Ignis spam chain with Spirited Axe+ since Ignis starts at four cooldown. This can be substituted with external support that provides accelerated cooldown, so if it’s not in your budget range, he can simply run an Oath or Rouse to meet the condition of Spirited Axe+. Meanwhile, if running Slaying Axe+ with Bonfire, he can simply increase his Atk with Joint Drive Atk.

  • If running Spirited Axe+ with Special Spiral, Basilio will want to have the ability to charge up his Special as quickly as possible so that he can always retaliate with an Ignis proc. For that reason, he’ll want to run Quickened Pulse with that set. If running Slaying Axe+ with Bonfire, he can opt for Steady Breath so that he triggers his Special on every hit.

Weapon: Ninja Masakari+

Special: Galeforce

A Passive: Flashing Blade (3 or 4) / Atk/Spd Boosting A Slot

B Passive: Wings of Mercy / Close Call / Hit and Run

C Passive: Time’s Pulse / Odd Tempest / Even Tempest

Sacred Seal: Blade Session / Flashing Blade

  • For this set, we’re going to be focusing on an Aether Raids offense set with Galeforce. Since Basilio has workable Spd, we can choose to run Ninja Masakari+ and stack up his Spd with other skills, whether that’s an Atk/Spd boosting A Passive or Blade Session. In any case, we’ll also want to run Flashing Blade since he’s taking a penalty to his Atk stat from Ninja Masakari+, so Heavy Blade checks will be harder despite having high Atk. In any case, there’ll be two types of Galeforce sets that’ll be highlighted: Wings of Mercy support and Hit and Run.

  • Depending on the type of Galeforce set you want to run, you can either opt for Flashing Blade or an Atk/Spd Boosting A Passive for his A Slot. Flashing Blade will be critical for securing Galeforce, depending on the season and available Mythics at your disposal, so it’s your call as to whether you run it as a Sacred Seal or A Passive. However, if you are running it as a Sacred Seal, an Atk/Spd Boosting A Passive can help with securing Flashing Blade checks and help with the MT deficit that comes with Ninja Masakari+.

  • This is where the Galeforce sets mainly come into play. The B Passive will ultimately determine the playstyle since each skill comes with its own sets of benefits. For example, running Wings of Mercy can allow Basilio to teleport to a Wings of Mercy beacon and set up a Galeforce chain while Close Call can be essential for a Hit and Run set.

  • The C Passive of choice should definitely be Time’s Pulse since Basilio lacks the Slaying effect. However, it can be substituted with external support that can provide cooldown. If that is the case, he can instead run Odd/Even Tempest and combine it with Close Call for a three-four move Galeforce Hit and Run strategy.

  • The Sacred Seal will ultimately depend on the A Passive. If Flashing Blade isn’t present in the kit, he’ll want to run it as his Sacred Seal. Otherwise, a skill that increases his overall Atk and Spd will be desired such as Blade Session.

A Passive: Atk/Def Unity / Steady Posture 3

B Passive: Null Follow-Up

C Passive: Joint Drive Atk / Def Smoke

Sacred Seal: Steady Breath

  • Given that Basilio has respectable Def, we can actually turn him into a Melee Specialist, a unit that focuses on one-ranged foes, and have him excel with Far Save support. It also helps that he has high Atk, so he shouldn’t struggle to take out many of his foes, especially with Ignis attached to the kit. Ignis is going to be vital for the Melee Specialist role as the goal is to take out the foe as quickly as possible while also minimizing the amount of incoming damage.

  • For Basilio’s A Passive, he’ll either want to opt for Atk/Def Unity or Steady Posture. Atk/Def Unity is rather standard for these types of sets since he wants to stack up as much Atk and Def as possible while also minimizing any form of debuff to either stat. However, if you want to leverage his Spd a bit more, you can run Steady Posture. It’s a good alternative as it inflicts Guard on the foe and increases his overall Def and Spd, meaning he can make more natural doubles.

  • To prevent any guaranteed follow-up attacks that may be present as well as negate any form of Impact effect from the foe that would otherwise stop Basilio from doubling, he’ll want to run Null Follow-Up. He shouldn’t have an issue doubling naturally since his Spd is fairly workable.

  • Any C Passive that increases his overall damage output is going to be a good pick for Basilio. The most consistent option is Joint Drive Atk as he’ll get the Atk bonus just by being near allies. However, for budget purposes, you can run Def Smoke instead as it can help with his damage output, albeit with less consistency.

  • Since Ignis is a four-cooldown Special, he’ll want to have the ability to trigger it as quickly as possible. One such Sacred Seal that can help him with that is Steady Breath as it accelerates his cooldown in the enemy phase. The only way Basilio won’t be able to trigger Ignis is if there’s a Guard effect present, but otherwise, he shouldn’t have an issue triggering it.

Strengths

High Attack

Basilio is going to be outputting a lot of damage thanks to his massive base Atk stat of 43, which can be bolstered even more with a super boon for a base total of 47 to start. Combine that with a 14 MT axe and some passives and Basilio is going to be a very heavy-hitting unit.

Good BST

Thanks to Basilio starting with 181 BST and having a super boon in Atk, he can score 185 BST with the first merge. This can make him a desirable merge project if you’re looking to score well in Arena and other similar game modes.

Flexibility

It’s no secret that IS has been rather generous with inheritable axes as of late given that they show up in almost every Tempest Trial+ these days. Moreover, thanks to how Basilio’s statline is allocated, he can take advantage of most, if not all, of the inheritable axes available and use them fairly well. This gives him general flexibility with his playstyle, so he isn’t locked to one specific role.

Weaknesses

No Differentiator

Despite having access to a plethora of axes, Basilio struggles to differentiate himself from his competition as he lacks any semblance of originality. Units such as Ninja Shamir and Balthus match his ability to score 185 BST in Arena and other similar game modes and can specialize in a specific role with much more success due to their stat allocations. That being said, Basilio is not a bad unit by any means, so you can still get plenty of mileage out of him.
