Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.

SDeath Blow 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Weapon: Brave Axe+ / Ninja Masakari+

Assist: Reposition

Special: Moonbow / Glimmer

Passive A: Sturdy Impact / Death Blow / Swift Sparrow

Passive B: Lull Atk/Def / Special Spiral / Hit and Run

Passive C:  Even Atk Wave / Def Smoke

Sacred Seal: Death Blow

  • This set is straightforward and brutal: stack Attack as high as you can and simply delete your opponent in Player Phase.
  • With the new Ninja weapons and the f2p availability of Ninja Masakari, it could be a F2P inheritance option if you don't have the feathers for a Brave Axe, but it's likely better suited on Ninja Hana anyway. If Ninja Masakari was inherited to Caellach, it opens the option for him to try and build up his Speed via Speed-stacking skills such as Life and Death or Swift Sparrow. Note that this isn't highly recommended, but it is an option.
  • Sturdy Impact is all-around better in his A slot than Death Blow due to its followup denial. Since Caellach's Speed is fairly low, he relies on his high Attack to oneshot his opponent - if he cannot do this, then he needs to prevent them from doubling him.
  • Lull Atk/Def and Special Spiral are both premium options for Caellach and increase his offensive power. On a budget, however, he can take Hit and Run, which gives him some protection after he's attacked.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Weapon: Deck Swabber+ (+DEF)

Assist: Reposition

Special: Moonbow / Glimmer

Passive A: Distant Counter / Bracing Stance

Passive B: Quick Riposte

Passive C:  Pulse Smoke

Sacred Seal: Atk/Def Solo

  • This is a very tanky set that plays to Caellach's strengths - his mixed bulk and high Attack - while mitigating his weaknesses. By utilizing the Deck Swabber, Caellach can reduce his opponent's Attack and strip their Attack buffs, which helps him to stay protected. He also reduces their Defense, allowing him to do more damage.
  • Distant Counter plays well to his mixed bulk and allows him to retaliate vs both archers and mages. Bracing Stance is another option which limits him to melee, but increases his tankiness significantly at that range.
  • Atk/Def Solo in his seal slot synergizes nicely with Deck Swabber, as both skills require Caellach to be all alone. This helps him to further endure enemy hits while dishing out some heavy damage on his own.

Strengths

High Attack

  • Caellach's high Attack value makes him immediately serviceable as a free unit and can enable him to brute force many PvE maps
  • He can be built very cheaply around his Attack stat, which makes him valuable as a barracks-filler

Mixed Defenses

  • Most of Caellach's other stats went to his mixed defenses, enabling him to be a decent mixed tank. However, his low Speed stat works as a detriment to this, as he will often be attacked twice by his foe, doubling the damage he takes - unless he can eliminate them in a single hit, that is.
  • This means that Caellach's best defense is indeed a good offense: he has the bulk to ensure that he can take a hit, and by increasing his Attack, he can try to oneshot his foe before they strike the killing blow. This is a fairly risky way to play, but with a stat spread like Caellach's, it's generally his best option.

Weaknesses

Low Speed

  • Caellach's low Speed is an issue both offensively and defensively.
  • While he obviously won't be able to double attack many foes without the help of a Brave Axe, his low Speed also cripples his offensive power against units who run Speed-based reduction skills like Close Call.
  • Defensively, his low speed allows him to be doubled by most of the units in the game.

Okay Defenses

  • Caellach's defenses are okay, but not great. While he can invest heavily into them, a defensive spread of 31/33 is no longer as impressive as it used to be.
  • With some characters reaching over 70 Attack, Caellach can still take upwards of 40 damage in a single hit, so he has to be careful and cannot be played like a universal omni-tank without heavy investment.
