- Kaden’s best bet by far — and what he’s most known for — is doubling down on the supportive aspects of his Kitsune Fang, with the stat swings and Guard effect he can distribute among nearby allies being quite impactful for defensive strategies (as this already lends itself to units bundling closely together). As he generally won’t be seeing combat, his choice of IVs don’t really matter beyond anyone seeking to stack HP to leverage Pulse Tie skills, in which case +HP should naturally be prioritized.
- His Special and A skill here are… largely unimportant in the grand scheme of things, as Kaden’s should rarely be engaging combat outside of last minute clean-up duties. With that in mind, Moonbow and Luna are perfectly solid for their low base cooldowns, and both Fury and Triangle Adept work fine for generalist purposes while bearing generally minimal investment costs.
- For anyone seeking to maximize Kaden’s scoring potential and/or ability to wield Pulse Tie, however, G Duel Cavalry becomes the prime choice, with its fourth-tier version even operating similarly to Fury without the detriment of sustained chip damage.
- For Kaden’s B skill, his options become a bit more diversified:
- Link skills are a classic for support builds — and for good reason, as they immediately enable an effective +12 boost to your choice of two stats on affected allies stats given how Kitsune Fang works. The choice between which to use boils down to personal preference.
- Even Pulse Tie stands as one of Kaden’s best supportive tools as well despite its lack of influence on his stat swings. Although it does require sizable investment into his HP, the +2 Special charge it applies to the foe with the lowest HP is well worth it to bypass pre-charged Specials, which are extremely prominent in all competitive modes. Combined with his Drive Guard effect post-refinement, Kaden can readily help subvert otherwise complicated enemy mechanics.
- The Kitsune Braggart’s C and Sacred Seal slot should typically be filled by some form of in-combat boost to build on the enhancements innately provided by his PRF, such as Distant Guard and Drive Atk. As for the visible buffs Kaden needs to actually maintain his effects, they should generally come from either Link skills or fellow support units so that both Kaden and the main carries receive them.
- To that end, it’s worth noting that Kaden pairs extremely well with Ashera during Astra Season in AR-O (as explained in his Strength section), particularly for access to the Null Panic buff — he can equip a Rouse 4 during Light Season to mimic this, but positioning restraints in many enemy maps make this unwieldy.

- Considering that refined Kitsune Fang potentially grants him a Spectrum +10/+10/+2/+2 and Guard (in addition to his transformation bonuses), Kaden may also opt for a more offense-tuned build as well to develop this Player Phase potential. To be clear, this is more of a “fun” build for anyone seeking for an alternative to his usual playstyle, as it can be pretty resource-intensive — and ultimately, he is better off as a support.
- With that out of the way, Kaden’s primary gameplan here is to stack further offensive bonuses to serve as a reasonable source of damage output, making it best to seek +ATK or +SPD IV as well as a complementary Atk/Spd enhancing A skill. Among those available, Swift Sparrow, Atk/Spd Push, Atk/Spd Solo, and Atk/Spd Catch are some of his best candidates, though ultimately anything available can work in a pinch.
- For his B skill, one may consider an available Near Trace or Lull for either greater mobility or stat superiority respectively, with both offering modest in-combat debuffs on foes. Desperation also works on a budget to ensure Kaden’s ability to engage in continued rounds of combat, regardless of how much damage he incurs.
- Both his C and Sacred Seal slots are flexible and open to anything that operates either selfishly or supportively, altogether coming down to how much one is willing to invest in the fox’s performance within the context of this build.
Strengths
Kitsune Fang
Kaden’s signature Kitsune Fang ties closely with his tendency to return even the smallest of favors, converting any visible buff he carries into equivalent two-range enhancements for his allies during combat. Given how easily accessible visible buffs are, Kaden can utilize this effect to grant his allies pretty hefty stat boosts across the board with relative ease; his refinement only adds to this supportive potential, providing an additional +2 Def/Res and persistent Guard effect to all allies within two spaces as well.
This altogether makes Kaden surprisingly impactful at aiding defensively-tuned allies, especially when paired with Ashera who immediately grants visible +6 Atk/Res and bypasses his weakness to Panic effects via her Order’s Restraint. Still, most allies are sure to appreciate his support — and, if nothing else, Kaden himself may occasionally serve as a source of damage output himself as refined Kitsune Fang also applies a selfish +10 Atk/Spd and the same Guard effect he gives to others during combat.
Serviceable Offensive Statline
Kaden’s Atk/Spd combination of 32/36 may not quite be up to par relative to modern, offensively-specialized Heroes, but it’s still pretty solid considering his primary support focus and his PRF’s in-combat boosts. In particular, his base 36 Speed stat serves as a decent baseline for denying and performing follow-up attacks in a pinch.
Cavalry Beast Benefits
Being a cavalry beast allows Kaden access to two different sets of class-exclusive buffs in addition to the varying strengths of the two archetypes, such as great mobility (which allows for more favorable positioning option) and the ability to transform (which, in his case, elevates his offensive baseline through a miniature Sturdy Impact effect when achieved).
Weaknesses
Heavily Susceptible to Panic
The utility of the stat swings provided by Kitsune Fang is undeniable, but the fact remains that having this rely on a constant stream of visible buffs can create issues when faced with the Panic debuff as it entirely negates Kaden’s core effectiveness. He does have a few means of bypassing this through skills like Ashera’s Order Restraint and the fourth-tier versions of Rouses, but these aren’t perfect or wholly sustainable; for instance, within the context Aether Raids Offense, Ashera is primarily exclusive to Astra Season and the Solo condition of Rouse skills leads to needless positioning restraints.
