Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.

Assets

  • +SPD: Kana (F) has fairly decent Speed, but it can be drastically improved with an Asset when combined with her refined Sun Dragonstone as well as team support.

  • +ATK: Kana (F) has a rather unimpressive Attack stat, so increasing with an Asset is helpful for improving her damage output.

  • +RES: For Aether Raids, a +RES Asset is extremely useful to help mitigate all the magic damage threats, particularly since Kana (F) gets +4 instead of +3 with an Asset.

Flaws

  • -HP/-DEF: Kana (F) struggles with pretty much any Flaw because she needs all of her stats, but -HP and -DEF will impact her the least overall.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD or +ATK or +RES / -HP or -DEF

  • The wide versatility of Sun Dragonstone allows Kana (F) to also be versatile with her choice of IVs. However, +RES is ideal for Aether Raids to deal with powerful magic threats like Ophelia.

Weapon: Sun Dragonstone (+Eff)

  • The stat boosts from this weapon are easy to maintain on Enemy Phase, and the Atk/Spd Lull effect is universally strong. Overall, this weapon drastically improves Kana’s combat potential, survivability, and versatility.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Sol / Aether

  • The choice between Sol and Aether is mostly up to preference - Sol will activate more often and therefore offer more sustain, but the extra damage from Aether can be very helpful as Kana (F) sometimes lacks damage due to her poor base 30 Attack.

Passive A: Distant Counter

  • Despite Distant Counter not working on Player Phase, it’s still a vital skill for Kana (F) with this build because the vast majority of her power lies in Enemy Phase due her weapon’s stat boosts being much easier to activate that way.

Passive B: Null Follow-Up / Null C-Disrupt

  • Both Null Follow-Up and Null C-Disrupt are exceptionally powerful in Aether Raids, where they both neutralize significant threats. The choice between the two is entirely up to player preference.

Passive C: Pulse Smoke / Atk Smoke

  • Pulse Smoke is an incredibly powerful skill as it can single-handedly shut down Infantry Pulse-based defense teams in Aether Raids.

  • If Pulse Smoke is unavailable, then Atk Smoke is a good budget option for increasing Kana’s overall survivability.

Sacred Seal: Swift Stance / Atk Smoke / Quick Riposte

  • Swift Stance is a fantastic Seal, as Speed and Resistance are both key stats that Kana (F) needs, particularly for Aether Raids.

  • Atk Smoke is a decent alternative if not using it as a C skill as well.

  • Quick Riposte isn’t particularly necessary with the right team support, but can be useful to help Kana (F) secure doubles against faster enemies.

Classic Lightning (Defensive Tank)

Lightning Breath+ (+Spd) A Fierce Breath
Alternate: Steady Breath
Reposition B Null Follow-Up 3
Alternate: Null C-Disrupt 3
Aether C Pulse Smoke 3
Alternate: Atk Smoke 3
IVsSSwift Stance 2
Alternate: Quick Riposte 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD or +ATK or +RES / -HP or -DEF

  • Unlike the Sun Dragonstone, utilizing refined Lightning Breath heavily incentivizes Kana (F) to utilize a defensive setup. However, all the same IV combinations can be utilized to good effect even with a defensive setup.

Weapon: Lightning Breath+ (+Spd/+Def/+Res)

  • Lightning Breath allows Kana (F) to forgo utilizing Distant Counter, allowing her to run a skill that accelerates her Specials such as Steady Breath.

  • The choice of refine is mostly up to preference. +Spd is ideal when stacking Speed (as with a +SPD Asset), while +Def or +Res can be utilized to either balance Kana’s defenses or focus her on either physical or magical tanking ability.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Aether

  • Thanks to the Special charge acceleration from skills like Steady Breath, it’s relatively easy for Kana (F) to charge a high cooldown Special like Aether, which serves the dual purpose of granting her additional damage output as well as sustain.

Passive A: Fierce Breath / Steady Breath / Warding Breath

  • Any of the Breath skills will work well here, as the important component is the accelerated Special charge generation.

Passive B: Null Follow-Up / Null C-Disrupt / Guard / Quick Riposte

  • Null Follow-Up and Null C-Disrupt are always strong options for a tank unit due to the wide variety of strong threats they can completely shut down; the choice between the two is entirely based on preference.

  • Guard or Quick Riposte are also good budget options. Note that Quick Riposte is far more useful with Lightning Breath compared to the Sun Dragonstone due to Kana (F) potentially having to deal with significantly faster opponents.

Introduction

While Kana (F) has always been somewhat of a sidegrade to Fae, her access to Sun Dragonstone greatly increased her overall potential. The raw stat boosts (which are easy to access just by fighting on Enemy Phase, where she already excels) and built-in Atk/Spd Lull effect grant her a huge boost in combat capability. Unfortunately, this does mean that she desperately needs to be given Distant Counter in order to be able to tackle the wide variety of threats that she’s capable of handling.

As a 5 star exclusive unit, Kana (F) will always have the distinction of being fairly difficult to invest heavily in for the majority of players. However, given the right investment, Kana (F) is quite a powerful unit that can excel in pretty much any game mode.

Strengths

Sun Dragonstone

Combining the raw stat boosts (which can potentially work on either phase, though they’re much easier and consistent on Enemy Phase) with Atk/Spd Lull gives Kana (F) a huge effective boost to her overall combat potential.

Infantry Dragon

As an infantry dragon, Kana (F) has access to a wide variety of powerful options like Null Follow-Up and Null C-Disrupt as well as the potent adaptive damage trait of dragon breath weapons.

Weaknesses

Anti-Dragon Weapons

The increasingly large number of anti-dragons available in Fire Emblem Heroes is concerning for those looking to invest in Kana (F) for the long term, as no matter how much stats she gains she will always have to be wary of those with anti-dragon weaponry.

High Investment

As a 5 star exclusive unit, Kana (F) is already in a difficult spot in terms of obtaining merges and optimal IVs, but she also needs a lot of premium skill inheritance such as Distant Counter or Null Follow-Up/Null C-Disrupt to excel.
