Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.

This unit requires use of Trait Fruits to get access to IVs

This is a grave injustice for one as beautiful as Oliver, but this is the price we must pay in order to indulge in his glory.

  • Oliver’s role remains largely unchanged by his beautiful exclusive weapon, which allows him to smite his foes with his blessed image. It grants him an additional +5 Attack and Resistance and grants him a 7 HP heal after combat against all foes except beasts, as Oliver appreciates the beauty of laguz. Its special refine grants him an additional +5 Attack and Resistance, but is fairly restrictive as it forces him to be paired with a beast dancer, such as Reyson or Groom Rafiel. The less radiant Blarserpent and Blarraven remain viable alternatives if Oliver’s company is desired by other units(and why wouldn’t it be?)
  • Iceberg gives Oliver additional smiting power when it triggers, based off his magnificently high Resistance.
  • Close Foil allows Oliver to smite close range foes with his radiance, and it also gives him a welcome boost to his Attack and Defense in combat against any melee foes who dare to stand against him. He can also make great use of Mirror Stance 3 and Distant Defense 4 and excel as a ranged tank.
  • Null C-Disrupt gives Oliver additional utility by allowing him to negate the effects of Dazzling Staff and Firesweep with the sheer power of his beautiful aura. He can also make use of Lull Atk/Res to reduce the foe’s ability to pierce through his majestic image while also making them more susceptible to smiting. Finally, Quick Riposte is a solid budget option should one be unable to fully invest in Oliver’s magnificence, as it allows him to perform Follow-up attacks in spite of his lacking Speed during Enemy Phase.
  • Pulse Smoke further enhances Oliver’s Enemy Phase abilities by blinding foes with his beauty, causing their Special Cooldown to increase(because why would anyone want to hit something so beautiful with a nasty special?) Attack Smoke serves a similar purpose, increasing Oliver’s durability by debuffing the Attack of foes within 2 spaces after combat.
  • Finally, Defensive seals such as Mirror Stance and Distant Def round out Oliver’s kit by giving him more stats during Enemy Phase.

  • Oliver can also choose to more aggressively smite his foes and be no less graceful while doing so. His tome of favors grants him massive +10 boost to Attack when both it’s conditions are met, so teaming Oliver up with a beast dancer such as Reyson or Groom Rafiel is recommended for this build, as they can provide Oliver additional support with a dance should he need to attack again.
  • Death Blow gives Oliver some much needed attacking power during player phase, increasing the amount of foes he can KO in a single blow. Atk/Def Solo can also be used to achieve a similar purpose while increasing his Defense, which can be useful should he need to take a hit. It’s condition can be difficult to accomplish in tight maps, however.
  • Lull Atk/Res is a great B slot option for Oliver as it both increases his damage output while also giving him some extra durability. He can also use Chill Res to grant other magic using allies some support while increasing his own damage output against the afflicted foe, although one must be careful of debuff absorption such as Fallen Ike’s Chaos Ragnell.
  • Finally, Atk/Def Solo and Death Blow are great choices for Oliver’s seal as well, granting him even greater offensive strength on player phase.

Strengths

Tome of Favors

Oliver’s Tome of Favors is a solid weapon overall. When both conditions are met, Oliver gains a massive +10 Attack and Resistance in combat in addition to healing 7 HP after combat, giving him a massive amount of magical bulk and offensive power. This weapon also allows Oliver to bless his foes with the magnificence of his image. How and why such a thing of beauty hurts them, we may never know.

High Resistance

Oliver’s base 34 Resistance is very solid, allowing him to soak magical attacks with ease and make great use of Sabotage skills and Ploys if desired.

Weaknesses

Tome of Favors

While Oliver’s Tome of Favors is a magnificent weapon, it does have a few shortcomings. Namely, the first part of it’s effect fails completely against beast foes, as Oliver is too captivated by their visage to harm them. This means that beast units such as Caineghis and Bridal Nailah will have an incredibly easy time defeating Oliver due to his tome losing much of its effectiveness against them. Tome of Favor’s special refine also requires the use of a beast dancer, but being paired with Oliver  counteracts their own transformation requirements, and requiring a specific ally type restricts teambuilding to some degree.

Terrible Speed and Defense

Oliver’s Speed and Defense are both fairly low at base 20 and 23 respectively, leaving him vulnerable to physical foes. Fast melee units such as Echidna and Female Kris will have little trouble ramming Oliver into the ground, so he should be kept away from them as much as possible unless he’s able to finish them off.
