IV Sets

Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.
HPATKSPDDEFRES

Assets

  • +SPD: More Speed will help Peri ensure she can perform double the stabby! Typically the optimal Asset, and helps her keep up to pace with her increasingly fast opponents.

Neutral

  • ATK: Extra Attack allows Peri's stabbies to hit harder and isn't exactly a BAD Asset, but she will generally get more value out of boosting her Speed.

  • RES: Base 30 Resistance is quite high and allows Peri to make good use of Ploy skills. It's good to avoid a -RES Flaw, but also not worth taking as an Asset over +SPD.

    • However on any sets that don't use ploys, Resistance is inconsequential as a Flaw.

Flaws

  • -HP: Peri's least harmful Flaw on any offense-oriented duelist set.

  • -DEF: Peri's least harmful Flaw on any magic-tanking set.

Reposition B Desperation 3
Alternate: Wings of Mercy 3
Galeforce C Atk Ploy 3
Alternate: Atk Smoke 3
IVsSHeavy Blade 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD / -HP or -RES

  • Peri primarily wants to maximize her Speed as she absolutely needs to double in order to activate Galeforce.

  • Though +ATK may be tempting as she does need to activate Heavy Blade, debuffing the Attack of her enemies may be safer than hyper-boosting her own, as if her Attack is too high, she may accidentally one-shot her targets—a very real risk when attacking frailer ranged units.

Weapon: Peri's Lance (+Eff/+Spd)

  • The unique refine will provide Peri more overall stats once damaged, but a Speed refine may help her ensure she can perform the double needed to proc Galeforce. The choice may largely depend on how much buff support she has.

Assist: Reposition

  • Usually preferred over Draw Back or Swap on Cavalry as trees may sometimes make those skills difficult to use on certain maps.

Special: Galeforce

  •  The centerpiece of this set. Galeforce allows Peri to dash around the map and potentially take out two enemies, or take out one and then run away. A great option for Aether Raids.

  • The -1 cooldown from her weapon means she will activate Galeforce even against ranged units, given Heavy Blade activates and she attacks twice.

Passive A: Atk/Spd Solo / Swift Sparrow / Life and Death / Fury

  • As an offensive character, Peri wants an A slot that boosts her Attack and Speed. Be careful not to boost her Attack too heavily however, as if her opponent dies in one hit, Peri wont activate Galeforce.

  • Life and Death will remove Peri's ability to utilize Ploys, but is great if one doesn't plan to use them.

  • Fury is another accessible option and will guarantee her Peri's Lance effect activates after one combat.

  • For further recommendations, check out our article on The Pros and Cons of Offensive A Skills.

Passive B: Desperation / Wings of Mercy

  • Desperation is a strong skill for an offensive attacker, and it doesn't conflict with her Galeforce timings as she does not need to be counterattacked to activate it.

  • Wings of Mercy can make it easier for her to target the right opponent first, and second. A good pick for Aether Raids as teammates can intentionally become WoM targets by stepping on a Lightning Trap.

Passive C: Atk Ploy / Atk Smoke

  • Atk Ploy is a great option to help Peri activate Heavy Blade on her first target. If she plans to use Wings of Mercy to warp into combat, Peri can focus purely on lining up her Ploy the previous turn.

  • Atk Smoke is the best alternative, helping her continue to activate Heavy Blade on her follow-up target.

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade

  • Mandatory in order to allow her to gain the four charge needed for Galeforce.

  • Can possibly be replaced with an offensive Seal such as Atk/Spd Bond if using Heavy Blade as her A slot skill, but this may be finicky to utilize.

Your Blood Only Makes Me Stronger! (Brazen Duelist)

Build by
Peri's Lance (+Eff) A Brazen Atk/Spd 3
Alternate: Brazen Atk/Def 3
Reposition B Desperation 3
Alternate: Escape Route 3
Glimmer
Alternate: Moonbow
C Atk Smoke 3
Alternate: Odd Atk Wave 3
IVsSBrazen Atk/Spd 3
Alternate: Brazen Atk/Def 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD or +ATK / -RES or -HP

  • A +SPD Asset is best most of the time, but if she is using a Brazen that boosts her Speed and/or has allies further buffing her Speed, she may instead get more mileage out of an +ATK Asset.

Weapon: Peri's Lance (+Eff)

  • The bonus effect of Peri's Lance synchronizes perfectly with other stat boosters like Brazen skills or Fury.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Glimmer / Moonbow

  • Peri prefers quick Specials to abuse her weapon's Slaying effect. The choice between Glimmer and Moonbow is largely preference, though Peri already learns Glimmer by default, so is an easy choice.

Passive A: Brazen Atk/Spd / Brazen Atk/Def / Fury

  • Stacking Brazens alongside her weapon's effect can provide her with a ton of stats. The first stat should always be Attack. The second stat can be Speed to help her perform doubles or Defense to help keep her alive at low HP.

  • Fury is an alternative to Brazen. Fury can help her more easily activate Peri's Lance when attacking ranged units, and combined with Peri's Lance will give her 7 (or 8 with Fury 4) points to all stats.

Passive B: Desperation / Escape Route / Vantage

  • Being in Brazen range will usually overlap with being in Desperation range and allows her to thrive well at low HP.

  • Escape Route will let Peri teleport around her allies if her HP is low enough.

  • Vantage can allow Peri to position a little more dangerously against weakened opponents.

Passive C: Atk Smoke / Def Smoke / Odd Atk Wave / Even Spd Wave / Hone Cavalry / Threaten Def

  • A very flexible slot. A skill such as Atk Smoke or Def Smoke can help keep her alive or defeat units with Vantage.

  • An Attack Wave or Speed Wave skill (such as Odd Atk Wave or Even Spd Wave) can give her a strong occasional boost to one of her most useful stats.

  • Hone Cavalry can help her synergize with other cavalry teammates.

  • Threaten Def, which she has by default, may be a useful backup option to help her pick off lingering melee enemies.

Sacred Seal: Brazen Atk/Spd / Brazen Atk/Def / Brazen Atk/Res

  • Another Brazen skill stacks further with Peri's Lance and her A slot skill.

Tipped with Fire AND Blood! (Firesweep Lance)

B Hit and Run
Alternate: Lancebreaker 3
Luna
Alternate: Moonbow
C Spd Ploy 3
Alternate: Def Ploy 3
IVsSDef Ploy 3
Alternate: Atk Ploy 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD or +ATK / -HP or -DEF

  • Boosts to Speed or Attack help Peri perform offensively.

  • Swap her Flaw to -RES if not using Ploys.

Weapon: Firesweep Lance+

  • What's better than giving enemy stabby? Giving enemy stabby with absolutely zero risk of any stabby back!

Assist: Draw Back / Reposition

  • Because she can't counterattack on Enemy Phase, Peri may prefer Draw Back to keep her a tad safer. Reposition may be easier for her to utilize, however.

Special: Luna / Moonbow

  • Luna will help her burst through tanks, and should activate on her second combat.

  • Moonbow can activate right away if paired with Quickened Pulse or Heavy Blade.

Passive A: Swift Sparrow / Darting Blow / Death Blow

Passive B: Hit and Run / Drag Back / Lancebreaker

  • Hit and Run and Drag Back let Peri retreat to safety after dealing damage, which is crucial due Firesweep Lance's nonexistent Enemy Phase.

  • Lancebreaker can be used to secure matchups against enemy lancers, and will let her pierce through Lance armors with Wary Fighter. It also keeps her safer from follow-ups on Enemy Phase when necessary.

Passive C: Spd Ploy / Def Ploy / Threaten Def

  • Spd Ploy is her favorite Ploy option, improving her Speed matchups for both her all her teammates.

  • Def Ploy instead boosts her and her physical allies' damage. Don't run it at the same time as the Def Ploy Sacred Seal, as they do not stack.

  • Threaten Def is a basic but workable and free alternative if Ploys are unavailable.

Sacred Seal: Def Ploy / Atk Ploy / Speed +3 / Quickened Pulse / Heavy Blade

  • Peri can use a second Ploy in addition to that in her C slot to debuff multiple stats.

  • Speed +3 is a basic but useful backup Seal option.

  • Quickened Pulse and Heavy Blade have potential synergies with Moonbow.

Peri's Long-Distance Stabby Delivery Service (Distant Counter Anti-Mage)

Reposition B Guard 3
Alternate: Quick Riposte 3
Iceberg
Alternate: Glimmer
C Atk Ploy 3
Alternate: Def Ploy 3
IVsSDistant Def 3
Alternate: Atk Ploy 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +SPD / -DEF

  • Speed remains her most useful Asset, and is valuable as she likely won't have much room to invest in Speed elsewhere on this build.

Weapon: Berkut's Lance+ (+Res) / Barrier Lance+ (+Res)

  • With just a Res-refined Berkut's Lance (or the identical Barrier Lance) Peri sits at 41 Resistance. Comboing this with other skills such as Distant Def can push her magical bulk to even higher levels.

Assist: Reposition

Special: Iceberg / Glimmer

  • Iceberg works well with her high Resistance on this set.

  • Glimmer can instead be kept for the shorter cooldown.

Passive A: Distant Counter

  • Allows Peri to bait and counterattack tome users.

Passive B: Guard / Quick Riposte

  • Guard keeps Peri safe from Specials like Moonbow that would pierce her Resistance, common on mages such as Reinhardt.

  • Quick Riposte helps her double super fast mages. Many mages stack Speed to ridiculous levels that she may be unable to counterattack without it.

Passive C: Atk Ploy / Def Ploy / Spd Ploy / Flexible

  • Peri can activate Ploys quite easily with her high Resistance. Atk Ploy is a great option to help her tank harder.

  • If her team requires some other support, she can freely swap to whatever is needed.

Sacred Seal: Distant Def / Atk Ploy / Def Ploy / Speed +3 / Resistance +3

  • Distant Def can help ensure the damage she takes is as close to zero as possible.

  • Any ploy skills that are not in use in her C slot also work well.

  • A basic Speed +3 or Resistance +3 Seal work as basic but reliable improvements.

Introduction

Peri is an eccentric cavalry lancer with an immense love of impaling, and a decent stat spread to back up her hobby. She also boasts a generously high Resistance compared to most of her niche, making her a good user of debuffing Ploy skills. However, despite this, she sits in a position where she is often overshadowed. Though she is rather good, there is no shortage of both other cavalry and other lancers with many more alluring and enticing niches. She lacks the absurd reach of ranged cavalry units, instead striking as far as ranged infantry units. Though it is fairly good, her Prf doesn't carry and set-defining mechanics or necessarily open her up any new playstyles, simply granting her a decent all-around stat buff. Her status as cavalry, while granting her an extra movement and access to class-unique buffs, lacks the pure freedom and retreat potential compared to similar flier units, and as well being a cavalry keeps her locked out of powerful skills such as Wrath that would otherwise be a much appreciated to boost her power.

Her strengths should not be undervalued however. She still remains a rather flexible unit with both good offensive power and strong supportive ability. She can become a powerful force to be reckoned with, and is likely to match all expectations. She unfortunately just lives in a world where there are many others that not just match expectations, but regularly exceed them.

Strengths

Good Offensive Statline

Peri actually possess a fairly solid offensive stat spread of 33/33. This is still one of the greatest among lance cavalry, though is beaten by ones like Oscar and Summer Cordelia.

Excellent Resistance

Rather rare amongst melee attackers, Peri manages to keep her solid Attack and Speed combo, yet still sit at a fairly high 30 Resistance. With Resistance more typically the melee attacker's Flaw of choice, this gives Peri the excellent opportunity to utilize Ploy skills, which will apply to the majority of her targets. It also makes her somewhat more difficult for mages to take down, which usually tend to walk all over melee units.

Weaknesses

Extraordinarily Competitive Team Slot

Though Peri is a good unit overall, it is extremely easy for Peri to be overlooked on most teams primarily thanks to the existence of high-performing Blue Cavalry like Reinhardt and Legendary Ephraim, as well as other blue Cavalry mages such as L'Arachel or Spring Catria, whose power and range with a Blade-tome can be difficult for Peri to keep up with. Beasts such as Selkie and Panne also offer some worthy competition for the same slot, as do flying beasts like Naesala who also have three movement when transformed.

Middling Physical Bulk

The combination of Peri's strong offenses along with her high Resistance comes at a price. Her HP and Defense are both quite low, an unattractive quality for a unit who may often be taking on other physical units. This may force Peri to run weapons and skills that keep her mobility up, help her warp around the map, or help her avoid counterattacks all together unless she can be absolutely sure her targets do not survive a single round of combat.
