Weapon: Ninja Masakari+ / Slaying Axe+ (+Spd)

Assist: Positional Assist

Special: Galeforce

A Passive: Flashing Blade (3 or 4) / Fury (3 or 4) / Atk/Spd Bond (3 or 4) / Swift Sparrow (2 or 3)

B Passive: Wings of Mercy / Close Call / Hit and Run

C Passive: Time’s Pulse / Odd Tempest / Even Tempest

Sacred Seal: Blade Session / Quickened Pulse / Flashing Blade / Atk/Spd Bond

  • Ninja Masakari+ and Slaying Axe+ are two solid options when it comes to Galeforcing. Ninja Masakari granting the Brave effect means Pirate Lifis can accelerate his Galeforce CD more quickly and avoid any recoil damage in the process. However, it’ll come at the cost of damage output as Ninja Masakari+ only has 9 MT. Meanwhile, Slaying Axe+ is able to start Galeforce off at 4 CD. However, he’ll need more CD support if he wishes to get Galeforce off. Either way, both weapons are a good option for him.

  • Galeforce is going to be the star of the show in this kit as the goal will be to maximize Pirate Lifis’ overall damage output. In order to do this, he’ll also want to run a good amount of complementary skills that can help him fulfill this role. However, this will depend on the weapon of choice. In any case, there are plenty of skill options at Pirate Lifis’ disposal for whichever weapon he so chooses to use.

  • In order to get Galeforce going, Pirate Lifis will want Special acceleration from Flashing Blade, whether that’s in his A Passive or in his Sacred Seal. If running Flashing Blade in his Sacred Seal, Pirate Lifis can opt for skills that increase his Atk and Spd such as Fury and Swift Sparrow, or if running Wings of Mercy in his B Passive, Atk/Spd Bond. Otherwise, he’ll want to run Flashing Blade in his A Passive, and preferably Flashing over Heavy Blade since he’ll have an easier time making Flashing Blade checks over Heavy Blade checks.

  • Depending on what role you want Pirate Lifis to have with Galeforce, you can either have him be part of a Wings of Mercy chain or have him be a Hit and Run strategist. The first role will wholly depend on a singular unit to fall below 50% HP so that Lifis can teleport to the injured ally. It may seem a daunting task, but with the right setup, it should be more than manageable. Meanwhile, with the second role, he’ll essentially be attempting to trigger the opposing team and safely get out of harm’s way. The latter may be harder to pull off depending on the opposing team, but with Close Call and Odd/Even Tempest, Pirate Lifis will have essentially four movements to work with.

  • Pirate Lifis being an Infantry unit means he can access skills such as Time’s Pulse and Odd/Even Tempest. Depending on his weapon of choice, he can opt for either of these options. Ninja Masakari+ means Pirate Lifis won’t have access to Slaying, so having Time’s Pulse would be a decent option for him as it’ll turn his Galeforce from 5 CD to 4 CD. On the other hand, if running Slaying Axe+, he can go for either option. Running Time’s Pulse on top of Slaying Axe+ as well as Quickened Pulse as his Sacred Seal can make Galeforce into a 2 CD Special. Meanwhile, running Odd/Even Tempest can open up the option for a Hit and Run strategy with skills such as Close Call or Hit and Run.

  • The Sacred Seal will be greatly dependent on the weapon of choice. If running Ninja Masakari+, skills that increase Pirate Lifis’ Atk and Spd are going to be the best options for him, whether that’s Blade Session or, depending on his B Passive, Atk/Spd Bond. Meanwhile, if running Slaying Axe+, he can instead run Quickened Pulse, which can be used for lowering the CD of Galeforce even more. It’s worth noting that because Lifis has high HP, it’ll be hard to Infantry Pulse him, so there aren’t that many substitutes for Quickened Pulse beyond units such as Velouria and Groom Rafiel. Other than that, he can run CD acceleration skills.

C Passive: Spd Smoke / Atk Smoke / Def Smoke

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade / Flashing Blade / Atk/Spd Solo / Blade Session

  • For budget purposes, Helmsman Axe+ isn’t a bad weapon by any means. Debuffing the foe for Spectrum 4 if the unit initiates combat can open up a lot of avenues for damage output in the Player Phase. However, as it is Player Phase dependent, it can leave out skill options that would otherwise be nice to have around. That being said, solely focusing on the Player Phase isn’t bad by any means, especially for someone as offensive as Pirate Lifis.

  • A 2 CD Special such as Moonbow or Glimmer are decent options for Pirate Lifis. For this kit specifically, falling into the Desperation range would mean that a 2 CD Special is required if he wants to maximize his damage output. That, on top of having to run a CD acceleration skill, such as Heavy Blade, will be necessary as well. Thankfully, he can run that as a seal if it is not an available option as his A Passive.

  • Any A Passive that can push Pirate Lifis into the Desperation range is a good option for him. Fury is among the classics of the bunch as it will always deal recoil damage after every combat. Likewise, it remains as a static buff, unlike Atk/Spd Push which will disable itself if Pirate Lifis falls below 25% HP. That isn’t to say it’s a bad option by any means, but for consistency, you can simply go with Fury. That being said, you can also run Heavy/Flashing Blade if you would rather save your Sacred Seal for another skill.

  • Desperation is going to be the go-to skill for this set as it synergizes very well with skills such as Fury and Push. There really isn’t much else in terms of budget skills that go well with this set as his weapon is dependent on the Player Phase. You could always go with Frenzy as well if that is an available skill at your disposal, but more often than not, Desperation is going to be a better option since the threshold is much higher and you generally don’t want him taking too many hits.

  • A Smoke skill is a solid budget option for Pirate Lifis as they can help with his damage output as well as make Heavy/Flashing Blade checks easier to fulfill. Spd Smoke is nice if running Flashing Blade and can allow for easier doubles. However, since Pirate Lifis is naturally fast, he can instead opt for Atk Smoke, which is only ever necessary if running Heavy Blade. However, Flashing Blade is arguably a better option for him instead. In any case, if neither of those options appeals to you, then Def Smoke is another good option since it can increase his overall damage output.

  • Depending on the rest of the kit, one can opt for running Heavy/Flashing Blade or a skill that bolsters Pirate Lifis’ Atk and Spd stats respectively. If Heavy/Flashing Blade is not present in the kit, it would be preferable to run one of those skills as it can help trigger 2 CD Specials and improve upon Pirate Lifis’ damage output. However, if that is already present in his A Passive, he can choose to run Atk/Spd Solo or Blade Session as both skills bolster his Atk and Spd to a generally good degree.

Strengths

Strong Offenses

Pirate Lifis entering the game with a base Atk stat of 36 and a base Spd stat of 40 puts him in a very well-off position offensively. Unfortunately, unlike some of his contemporaries, he lacks any sort of superboon in his Atk or Spd stat. However, they are already high enough for it not to matter as much and can still be bolstered further with a designated boon.

Infantry

Pirate Lifis being an infantry unit means he has access to a plethora of skills that can bolster his overall performance. Whether that’s for modes such as Aether Raids and Arena, or even in general use situations, there are plenty of options at his disposal.

Weaknesses

Lowish Resistance

Starting off with a base Res stat of 23, Pirate Lifis has a lot left to be desired in that department. However, thanks to his high Spd stat, Pirate Lifis is able to mitigate a lot of magical damage with Damage Reduction skills.

Locked Out of 180 BST

Unfortunately for Pirate Lifis, he lacks any sort of superboon that would otherwise push his 176 BST to 180 BST, and seeing as investing into a Tempest Trial unit will take some considerable amount of resources, it would be fair to say that it may be worth looking into other similar projects that can not only perform just as well but can score more, such as Ninja Hana who has the ability to score 180 BST.
