- This build aims to maximize Tobin’s effectiveness as an Armor counter, as his exclusive weapon grants him effectiveness against armors in addition to a helpful +4 bonus to all of his stats when his maximum HP exceeds that of the foe’s.
- For Tobin’s Special, Bonfire is a decent choice due to his good Defense, especially after his exclusive weapon’s effect is applied. Ignis can also be used, at the cost of a longer cooldown.
- Death Blow is one of Tobin’s best A slot options for an offensive build, as it grants him additional damage output on Player Phase with no drawbacks. He can also use Atk/Def Solo well, although it can be tricky to activate on tighter maps.
- Null Follow-Up and Lull Atk/Def are both great options for Tobin’s B slot. Null Follow-up allows him to ignore Wary Fighter and Follow-up prevention skills present on many armors, while Lull Atk/Def increases his bulk and damage output while negating the foe’s Attack and Defense buffs. Sudden Panic is also a great option on Tobin due to his high HP, so he’ll have very little trouble activating it against most foes. On a budget, Chill Def can also be used to good effect.
- Panic Ploy allows Tobin to take further advantage of his incredibly high HP, but his C slot mostly depends on the needs of the team. For his sacred seal, Heavy Blade can give Tobin quicker access to his special, while Death Blow increases his raw damage output further.

- Tobin can also function reasonably well in a defensive role due to his deceptively good bulk, although his lack of Speed means he’ll be unable to use Close Call or Repel without significant support. The Jubilant Blade is once again Tobin’s weapon of choice, as the bonus stats it grants further bolster Tobin’s bulk, provided his HP is higher than the foe’s.
- Distant Counter is invaluable, as it grants Tobin the ability to counterattack and potentially KO ranged foes, although if one wishes to focus on Tobin’s melee tanking, Mirror Stance 3 or Steady Stance 4 are suitable alternatives.
- In conjunction with Distant Counter, Null-C disrupt gives Tobin a greater fighting chance against Firesweep users and foes with dazzling staff. He can also opt for Lull Atk/Def once more to debuff the Attack and Defense of the foe while negating their buffs in these stats. Finally, Tobin can use Quick Riposte on a budget to perform follow-up attacks in spite of his poor Speed.
- Pulse Smoke allows Tobin to more effectively counter foes with pre charged specials, especially in conjunction with Mirror Stance 3. However, other C slot skills such as Atk Smoke also work well. For Tobin’s Sacred Seal, Defensive seals such as Mirror Stance and Quick Riposte are solid options.
Strengths
Fantastic HP
Tobin’s base HP of 46 is incredibly high, and it allows him to take great advantage of a plethora of HP based skills, as well as his own exclusive Jubilant Blade. It also gives great resistance against skills such as Panic Ploy and Aversa’s Night.
Infantry
Tobin is inherently advantaged as an infantry unit, as he gains access to a plethora of powerful skills such as Null Follow-up and Special Spiral, while also lacking a weakness to most class based effective weaponry.
Weaknesses
Mediocre Statline
While his Jubilant Blade salvages his stats to an extent, the rest of Tobin’s statline is incredibly unremarkable. Tobin’s 31 Attack is fairly underwhelming, and with only 27 base Speed, Tobin will struggle to fend off most follow-up attacks without heavy Speed investment. Tobin’s Defensive spread of 33/26 is decent, but once again nothing extraordinary.
Heavy Competition
Tobin’s status as an Infantry sword unit in a bloated pool of Infantry sword units means that he suffers from extremely stiff competition in his role, and he struggles to stand out compared to powerful sword users with exclusive weapons such as Shannan and Mareeta, or other sword units with better statlines, such as Leif or Ayra.
