Assets

  • +HP: HP is easily Virion’s best choice of Asset as it allows him to take greater advantage of his exclusive weapon and skills such as Panic Ploy and Sudden Panic, in addition to increasing Virion’s overall durability.

  • +SPD: bringing his mediocre 31 base speed to a more respectable 34 base, a Speed Asset can also be used to secure more follow-up attacks and avoid them with greater ease.

  • +ATK: Finally, Attack is also a good choice of Asset, as it gives Virion a much easier time breaking through bulkier foes.

Neutral

  • DEF: Despite being a 4 point increase, a Defense Asset is significantly less useful to Virion than an Asset in HP, Speed, or Attack. In addition, a Flaw in Defense is detrimental to Virion’s ability to take physical damage, and as such Defense should be kept neutral.

Flaws

  • -RES: Virion’s Resistance is simply pathetic, and lowering it further will not affect his performance in the slightest, making it easily his best choice of Flaw.

C Panic Ploy 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +HP / -RES

  • An HP Asset is vital to ensure that Virion’s Dignified Bow activates against as many foes as possible. Resistance is the chosen Flaw, as it affects Virion’s performance the least and is too low to make any use of regardless.

Weapon: Dignified Bow(+EFF)

  • The Dignified Bow Breathes new life into the initially underwhelming Virion, granting him Sudden Panic and a +4 bonus to all stats when his HP is higher than his opponents. This allows Virion to be a potent Panic spreading support unit in Aether Raids and Arena, and lets him make fantastic use of his large HP pool.

Assist: Reposition / Rally ATK/SPD+ / Preference

Special: Luna / Aether

  • Luna reduces the Defense of foes by 50% when it activates, giving Virion a much easier time breaking through bulky foes.

  • In Arena, a 500 SP special such as Aether is ideal to maximize Virion’s scoring potential.

Passive A: C Duel Infantry 3 / HP +5

  • C Duel Infantry Raises Virion’s HP by an additional 5, granting him increased consistency in activating his Dignified Bow. It also significantly increases Virion’s Arena scoring potential by counting his BST as 170 in Arena.

  • On a budget, or if arena scoring is not a concern, HP +5 can be used to similar effect.

Passive B: Chill Spd / Atk/Spd Ruse / Spd Feint

  • Chill Spd allows Virion to support his team by inflicting a -7 Speed debuff on the enemy with the highest Speed, giving his allies a significant advantage in performing follow-up attacks against the afflicted enemy.

  • If a Rally skill is being used, Atk/Spd Ruse and Spd Feint can also be used to great effect, as they reduce the stats of any enemies in cardinal directions of Virion(and in Ruse’s case, his Rally target) significantly when he uses a Rally. Atk/Spd Ruse also inflicts the Guard Effect, making it a better choice overall than Spd Feint.

Passive C: Panic Ploy / Infantry Pulse / Preference

  • Panic Ploy gives Virion a larger radius to inflict Panic, especially when the enemy is separated and unaffected by his Dignified Bow.

  • Virion can also use Infantry Pulse to great effect due to his massive HP pool, providing -1 cooldown to Infantry allies with an HP stat lower than his own during the first turn.

Sacred Seal: Chill Atk / HP/Spd 2

  • The Chill Atk Sacred Seal is a great choice, expanding upon Virion’s supportive utility by inflicting a -7 Attack debuff to the enemy with the highest attack, which can be freely taken advantage of by his team.

  • HP/Spd 2 increases Virion’s HP further while granting him a +2 bonus to Speed, allowing him to avoid follow-up attacks easier.

The Whole Circus (Offensive)

Build by
Dignified Bow (+Eff) A Swift Sparrow (2 or 3)
Alternate: Sturdy Impact
Reposition B Lull Atk/Spd 3
Luna C Even Atk Wave 3
IVsSSturdy Blow 2
Alternate: Darting Blow 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred IV: +ATK or +SPD / -RES

  • For an offensive build, Virion prefers to raise his raw damage potential or improve his ability to perform follow-up attacks with an Attack or Speed asset respectively. Resistance is the flaw of choice, as lowering it further will not affect Virion’s performance.

Weapon: Dignified Bow(+EFF)

  • Virion’s Dignified Bow remains his weapon of choice, as it allows him to serve a potent support role with its Sudden Panic effect in addition to increasing all of his stats by 4, as long as his HP exceeds that of his foe.

Assist: Reposition / Preference

Special: Luna

  • Luna is once again a fantastic choice of special for Virion, featuring strong Defense reduction and a relatively quick cooldown.

Passive A: Swift Sparrow 2 or 3 / Sturdy Impact

  • Swift Sparrow 3 is one of the premier offensive A slot skills, granting a massive boost to Attack and Speed on initiation with no downside. Swift Sparrow 2 is also usable on a budget, though not as powerful.

  • Sturdy Impact can also be used to greatly increase Virion’s durability on initiation while still providing a sizeable boost to Attack. This helps him keep his Bow’s effect active by sustaining less damage overall.

Passive B: Lull Atk/Spd / Chill Defense

  • Lull Atk/Spd reduces the foe’s Attack and Speed by 3 in addition to negating their buffs in these stats. This benefits Virion both in taking damage as well as performing and avoiding follow-up attacks.

  • Chill Defense can also be used to inflict a -7 debuff on the foe with the highest Defense, making the afflicted target significantly easier to KO for both Virion and his physical damage teammates.

Passive C: Even Atk Wave / Preference

  • Even Attack Wave is a good choice of C slot skill, granting a sizeable boost to Virion’s Attack during even turns. What C slot Virion uses is largely up to the needs of the team and player preference, however.

Sacred Seal: Sturdy Blow / Darting Blow / Attack +3

  • Sturdy Blow is an excellent choice of Sacred Seal, raising Virion’s Attack as well as his Defense during Player Phase.

  • Darting Blow is also a great choice as it allows Virion to perform follow-up attacks with greater consistency during Player Phase.

  • Finally, Attack +3 can be used for a simple but helpful bonus to Virion’s Attack.

Introduction

As one of the first heroes acquired by many older players, Virion was largely ignored for most of the game’s lifespan due to his lackluster stats and lack of an exclusive weapon compared to most other archers. Virion’s offensive statline of 31/31 leaves much to be desired, and is handily outclassed by many other offensive archers. Virion’s rather average Defense of 26 also does little to help him stand out. His defining feature was his incredible base 46 HP, one of the highest in the game, but even with skills such as Sudden Panic, Virion was handily outclassed as a support debuffer by units such as Aversa, who boasts an exclusive weapon and higher overall stats.

However, through the weapon refinery, Virion was blessed with a fantastic exclusive weapon, the Dignified Bow. In addition to granting him the Sudden Panic skill, this weapon’s +EFF refine also boosts all of Virion’s stats by 4 when his HP is higher than his foe’s. The combination of these two abilities allows Virion to make excellent use of his once fairly useless HP stat, and makes him a fantastic support unit who can easily inflict Panic on a multitude of foes due to his incredible HP stat, while also utilizing skills such as Chills and Ruse Atk/Spd to support his team.

Unfortunately, Virion does have a major flaw, his statline. While his HP is fantastic, the rest of his stats are left completely to the wayside, and even with his weapon’s incombat stat boost, Virion’s offensive potential is left incredibly lacking compared to other archers, leaving him best suited to a support role. In addition, Virion’s Resistance may as well not exist, as its terrible base value of 13 leaves him unable to survive even the weakest sources of magical damage. Despite these setbacks, Virion has greatly improved with the release of his exclusive weapon, and is able to perform admirably well in a support role.

Strengths

Dignified Bow

Virion’s exclusive Dignified Bow allows him to take on the role of a Panic spreading support unit well, providing him the Sudden Panic skill. It can also be refined to grant him a +4 bonus to all of his stats in combat, provided his HP is higher than that of his opponents. Altogether, this weapon allows Virion to make fantastic use of his massive HP stat to spread Panic and shores up his rather middling offensive capabilities.

Incredible HP

Virion’s Base HP of 46 is one of the highest in the game, and this allows him to make excellent use of his exclusive Dignified Bow, as well as skills such as Panic Ploy and Infantry Pulse.

Weaknesses

Lacking Offensive Statline

While a 31/31 offensive spread is not the worst among archers, Virion’s offensive prowess is sorely lacking at base. While Virion’s Dignified Bow compensates for this to some extent, Virion will need skills such as Swift Sparrow 3 to pose more of a threat offensively, which lessens his support utility.

Horrible Resistance

Virion’s Resistance is one of the lowest in the game, resting at a pathetic base value of 13. As a result, any magic using foe will have little trouble disposing of him, even factoring in his high HP.
