Tempest Trials - Before We Met...

Map

Bonus Allies

This special event contains a series of maps you must fight your way through from beginning to end. Losing does not mean game over, as you can retry with  multiple teams. At the end of each round, points are awarded based on clear speed, survivability and bonus units. Your total points are tallied and used to unlock various rewards, many of which are exclusive to the Tempest Trials. Additionally, there is a player ranking with large feather rewards given to those with the highest scores.

Basic information about the Tempest Trials+ are as follows.

  • Using a Bonus ally on your team will increase your score by 40%.

  • Bonus allies gain double EXP and SP, and stat boosts (HP+10, +4 other stats).

  • Your first two runs per day earn triple the amount of points, and grant stat boosts to all of your units (as if they were bonus allies).

  • Event Duration is 10 days.

  • Rewards are given for scores up to 50,000.

Notable Rewards

4* Azura: Young Songstress

Azura’s latest appearance is that of a green mage, but with the capacity to Sing! She’s the first free Sing/Dance user in the game since launch, making her a must-have for all players. She can do her job at 4* if necessary, or be sacrificed to give Spd/Res Bond 3 to another unit.

For tips and tricks on using Azura: Young Songstress, see her Hero Analysis here.

Gale Dance Seal

This Sacred Seal gives the effects of Gale Dance to one unit, allowing them to boost an ally’s Speed by 4 when using Sing or Dance on them. Although this seal can be given to many units, only those with Sing or Dance can activate its effects. It’s the perfect choice for Azura: Young Songstress, the reward unit for this event.

Water Boost Seal

This seal gives its user the effects of Water Boost 3, granting a +6 Resistance boost in combat when the user’s HP is equal to three or higher than the opponents. Water Boost has never been a popular Skill, and is often left in favor of offensive stat increasing Skills such as Fury and Atk/Spd Bond.

5* Azura: Young Songstress

A 5* version of Azura, Young Songstress. Her unique tome Book of Shadows gives her some Speed and inflicts significant debuffs on the opponent when she’s adjacent to an ally. She can also be sacrificed to give Torrent Dance or Spd/Res Bond to an ally. Notably, both the Gale Dance and Atk/Def Bond seals synergise well with her.

For tips and tricks on using Azura: Young Songstress, see her Hero Analysis here.

Atk/Def Bond Seal

This Sacred Seal gives the effects of Atk/Def Bond to one unit, giving them a +5 boost to both Attack and Defense when standing adjacent to an ally. This is one of the most reliable stat boosting seals, being easy to activate alongside Spur skills and Ally Support bonuses. This seal is one of the best rewards available during the event.

Teambuilding

For those looking to maximize their score and stamina efficiency, care should go into choosing a Tempest Trials team. Instead of talking about completed teams, I’ll be talking about the elements that make those teams successful, so that players with different units can construct viable teams. Unless otherwise stated, all units from here on out are assumed to be running their recommended builds. A team with the best chance of success will have the following:

  • As many bonus units as possible, as they receive huge stat boosts.

  • Source(s) of healing, such as healing specials or a staff-user.

  • Strategy for the final map and boss.

  • Weapon Triangle coverage, as the actual units within each map can vary significantly.

The first two runs each day grant all units a stat boost as if they were bonus units. This simplifies team-building for those looking to complete just those runs and nothing else.

Bonus Units

The first units you’ll want to think about using are of course, the bonus units. With their huge stat bonuses (+10 HP, +4 to all other stats) they will punch far above their normal weight. Always endeavor to have at least one bonus unit on your team, as they increase your score by 40%. Bonus units do not stack: 40% total will be awarded no matter how many bonus units are on the team.

The first two runs each day grant all units a stat boost as if they were bonus units. This makes team-building much simpler for those runs, as players can use nearly any unit they want.

Corrin, Dream Prince: Perhaps the best offensive dragon in the game, Corrin’s got a great mix of offense and defense, although his Resistance is a little low. His Draconic Rage weapon allows him to activate Specials often, and get substantial Attack and Speed boosts. Equipped with a healing Special, he is a highly recommended unit who can sustain well and score numerous KOs.

For tips and tricks on using Corrin: Dream Prince, see his Hero Analysis here.

Corrin, Dream Princess: This version of Corrin is your typical defensive dragon, with great Defense, good Resistance and solid HP. She excels in Speed, further boosting her defensive prowess. Although she lacks the raw power that Corrin: Dream Prince possesses, she’s a sturdier fighter who also excels due to Draconic Rage.

For tips and tricks on using Corrin: Dream Princess, see her Hero Analysis here.

Camilla, Flower of Fantasy: Known lovingly by the community as Camilla #5, she’s a incredible offensive unit who can easily pulverise opponents thanks to her huge 37 Attack. It’s recommended to pair her up with other Fliers to take advantage of the powerful Hone Fliers buff. She becomes even stronger with a Blade tome, and synergises well with Azura: Young Songstress. She is easily defeated by archers, so playing her will require careful positioning when they are present.

For tips and tricks on using Camilla: Flower of Fantasy, see her Hero Analysis here.

Mikoto, Caring Mother: Healers are always incredible units for the Tempest Trials, and Mikoto is no exception, boasting great offensive stats and a useful weapon in Flash. Her ability to stop enemies from counterattacking enables otherwise flimsy sweepers to run amok. Additionally, her healing prowess is invaluable, allowing teams to sustain over subsequent battles.

For tips and tricks on using Mikoto: Caring Mother, see her Hero Analysis here.

Azura, Young Songstress: Dancers are one of the most sought-after units, and Azura is no exception. She enables all kinds of teams to do well, especially offensive teams who seek to clear the trials as hard and fast as possible. She can even take the offensive herself, as her unique weapon Book of Shadows applies a hefty debuff to her opponents, enough to let her nab some easy KO’s.

For tips and tricks on using Azura: Young Songstress, see her Hero Analysis here.

Ryoma, Peerless Samurai: One of the original Distant Counter swordsmen, Ryoma is a great all-rounder unit capable of fighting both offensively and defensively. Raijinto’s Distant Counter allows him to play much more flexibly, and even handle mages (with some support). He is one of the best units for autobattle teams, due to his reliability.

For tips and tricks on using Ryoma: Peerless Samurai, see his Hero Analysis here.

Hinoka, Blue Sky Warrior: Equipped with a Bow, Hinoka is a fearsome aerial opponent who boasts effective damage on two types of units. She makes a great partner to Camilla, as the two form a deadly duo who can buff each other and hit physically and magically. She must beware of archers however, as they spell doom for her due to her low Defense.

For tips and tricks on using Hinoka: Blue Sky Warrior, see her Hero Analysis here.

Leo, Sorcerous Prince: The only Cavalry unit available, his unparalleled threat range make him a deadly offensive unit. Leo’s great mixed defenses make him tough to KO, although he must take care not to suffer follow-up attacks on his low Speed. He doesn’t stand out compared to the other units, but is an otherwise fine choice for the Trials.

For tips and tricks on using Leo: Sorcerous Prince, see his Hero Analysis here.

Healers

Staff-users are highly recommended for all kinds of teams due to their amazing healing potential. They are by far the most reliable and powerful healers available, and can also provide strong chip damage to neutralize strong threats. Mikoto is a bonus unit who wields a staff, making her an exceptional choice for the Tempest Trials.

There are a few types of builds which can be used to heal teams without using a dedicated healer. The first of these is the “Renewal Medic”, a build type which relies on healing from Renewal and the legendary weapon Falchion. Reciprocal Aid is a must-have skill to ensure clean transferral of health to allies. Forging Falchion increases the healing from this type of build. Lastly, there is the "sustain tank" build. With a cooldown -1 weapon such as a Slaying Axe combined with Steady Breath, Quick Riposte and Aether, a unit can charge and fire off their special every round of combat keeping their health topped up over a long time.

Dancers

These are some of the most potent allies for Tempest Trials, offering both safety and speed to your run. In short, they are great for all the usual reasons, but are affected by their low combat stats, which can hold them back. Due to team limitations, if you choose to field a dancer they must be a respectable combat unit in their own right, with either a full build or something close. Azura: Young Songstress is a highly recommended bonus unit who can refresh units with Sing.

Sweepers

One of the fastest ways to clear the Tempest Trials is with a powerful ranged attacker wielding a Brave Bow or Blade tome. Combined with a buffer or dancer, they can destroy most units in the trials with ease once they are under the Desperation threshold. Camilla: Flower of Fantasy and Hinoka: Blue Sky Warrior are both incredible ranged sweepers who can buff each each other. Leo and even Azura: Young Songstress can also be used to sweep, given the right Skill build.

Using Autobattle

For those looking to save time, the autobattle feature lets you quickly gain Tempest Trial points with minimal effort. When creating an autobattle team, there are a few considerations:

Difficulty

  • Hard (5 Battles) is the most suitable difficulty for most players, assuming you can field a full team of five star characters. With enough bonus units or merges, it may be possible to do the lower infernal difficulty.

Team Building

  • Team building considerations are mostly the same for manual teams. The AI tends to play recklessly, making tanky units with well-rounded statlines and Distant Counter fare the best.
  • A dedicated healer is nearly always better unless you have multiple units with Aether or other healing. If you choose a dedicated healer, don’t forget to un-equip their weapon. Otherwise, the AI will treat them like a ranged attacker, and play aggressively with them.
  • Don't forget to pack a bonus unit!
  • Flying units tend to be poor choices, unless equipped with Iote's Shield. This is because the AI's reckless playstyle often leaves them in the range of deadly archers.

Examples

  • Distant Counter Units: Ryoma, Dorcas, Black Knight, Hector(LA), Nowi, Hector, Ike, Ike(VL), Young Tiki, Zelgius.
  • Sustain Tanks: Brave Ike, Ike, Ike(VL), Raven, Brave Lucina, Leif, Linus.
  • Dedicated Healers: Mikoto, Any staff-user!
  • Other Healers: Marth: Enigmatic Blade, Marth, Lucina, Chrom, Arvis, Linde, Performing Olivia, Alm.
  • Sweepers: Camilla: Flower of Fantasy, Hinoka: Blue Sky Warrior, LewynBridal Sanaki, Bridal Tharja, Sanaki, Reinhardt, Olwen, Brave Lyn, Lute, Reinhardt, L'Arachel, Olwen, Delthea, Lilina, Bridal Cordelia, Nino, Nino(SF).

Threats to Autobattling Teams

  • Triangle Adept
  • Weapon Breaker Skills
  • Firesweep Weapons
  • Brave Weapons
  • Effective Weapons (Such as Armorsmashers, Horseslayers and Bows)
  • Wrath/Wo Dao/Wo Gun/Harmonic Lance users

Defeating Mikoto: Caring Mother

Mikoto is one of the most annoying Tempest Trial bosses, thanks to her status as a Staff wielder, and annoying support skills. With Flash+, Mikoto can prevent multiple enemies on your side from counterattacking. This can really ruin enemy phase builds and units with skills like Quick Riposte and Distant Counter.

She also has very respectable stats, boasting a whopping 55 Attack on the hardest Lunatic difficulty. Mikoto's high Speed makes her difficult to double without significant buffs or certain Skills. If you manage to take her down in one turn, it will stop her from activating Brazen Atk/Res or Martyr+.

  • Flash only prevents counterattacks after combat: units with ranged counterattacks can still hit her on the turn that she attacks. Therefore, its recommended to use a unit with ranged counterattacks to defeat Mikoto.
  • Dragons like Nowi, Corrin(F), Corrin: Dream Prince, Corrin: Dream Princess, Kana(M), and Kana(F) are all good choices for beating Mikoto. With Distant Counter or Lightning Breath, they have the ability to strike back and on her low Defense stat. It's recommended to give them a Resistance buff before they engage, to ensure they can take multiple hits if needed.
  • Raven tome users are a great way to handle Mikoto. With a Raven tome, Triangle Adept and Quick Riposte, they will easily be able to bait and KO Mikoto. Robin(M), Robin(F), Henry and Lyon are all solid units who can handle Mikoto.
  • Physical offensive units like Kagero, Bridal Cordelia, Brave Lyn, Sothe and New Year's Takumi all have the power to muscle through Mikoto. With a Brave Bow or Poison Dagger + Glimmer, threatening OHKO's from a range. Use of a Dancer is recommended to get these units back to safety once they've attacked.
  • Classic mage tanks like Julia, Felicia, Deirdre, Julius, Saias and Micaiah all work, but they'll need Quick Riposte and an Attack buff or pre-charged Special to secure the one round KO.

Oh come on, our Ikie-waike still a good unit for TT as well as Ishtar who like to spaming glimmer/moonbow. Azura pretty decent dancer(singer) for me, she can buff her allies with earth/blaze dance in S slot, and Torrent dance in B slot. Better than mix buff skills.

Keep the Halloween Armors together for both Armor March and Ally Support. Use HKagero to bait bow, dagger, and blue/green tomes. HMyrrh can tank a red tome, but try to exploit the AI to get better matchups. Ayra can kill most physical units, and BVeronica is for heals and finishing wounded enemies.

Buff bot titania

Show Explanation

Titania buffs up owain and co for 3 separate stats. She also takes out weaker enemies and particularly pesky blues. Owain and Corrin can handle pretty much everything else. Maribelle is there to keep everyone alive, help secure a kill, and to occasionally take an enemy out by herself.
