Show Explanation/Analysis

Weapon: Twin Star Axe

Assist: Positional Support / Ardent Sacrifice

Special: Glimmer / Miracle

Passive A: Distant Counter / Distant Ward / Sturdy Stance

Passive B: Vantage

Passive C: Atk/Def Rein

Seal: Brazen Atk/Def / Fierce Stance

  • While it's easy to be swayed by the attractive +5 Attack on Distant Ward, the inability to retaliate vs the archer meta threats and various dagger users limits what maps you'd be able to use Ninja Laevatein in. For that reason, Distant Counter is preferable - though take care that she is in Vantage range before baiting out an archer who may oneshot her otherwise.
  • If you prefer to use Laevatein as more of a melee focused unit, then Sturdy Stance is a fantastic option on her, as it bolsters both her Attack and Defense, while preventing her opponent from activating a Special.
  • The rest of this set is simple: get Laevatein into Vantage/Brazen range (through things like Bolt Traps, Upheaval, or Ardent Sacrifice) and send her into enemy territory and watch her rip through your opponents.
  • Brazen Atk/Def does have an HP requirement before it activates, whereas Fierce Stance does not. However, Brazen Atk/Def has a higher Attack value and synergizes well with Vantage so it is generally preferable.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Weapon: Twin Star Axe

Assist: Positional Support

Special: Glimmer / Galeforce

Passive A: Sturdy Impact / Death Blow / Heavy Blade

Passive B: Chill Def / Vantage

Passive C: Atk/Def Rein

Seal: Death Blow / Heavy Blade / Quickened Pulse

  • This is a very typical set for an offensive brave unit.
  • There are really only two major decisions to make with an offensive Laevatein, which are: do you prefer to lower her damage output in the attempt to make her run a single-combat Galeforce, build, which will refresh her action and allow her to take on multiple foes per turn, or do you focus on damage for a single target and run Glimmer instead.
  • Heavy Blade in Seal slot allows Laevatein to activate Glimmer in a single engagement, which will do more damage than Death Blow if her opponent is not running a Guard skill and has average Defense.
  • Sturdy Impact allows Laevatein to survive her first engagement if she cannot finish off her foe, which grants her more utility than an extra few points of damage from Death Blow 4. Sturdy Impact can also be paired with her default Vantage, which enables her to retaliate before her opponent can attack her in the Enemy Phase.

Strengths

Minmaxed Statline

Ninja Laevatein has a minmaxed statline that goes perfectly with her base kit and weapon. With a monstrous Attack of 42 (and a Superboon, allowing it to hit 46), she will always hit hard.

Her defenses are also fairly potent, allowing her to take a hit before retaliating with her dual-phase brave weapon.

Simple But Effective

Laevatein doesn't require much building outside of her base kit, or much strategy - simply move her into the enemy range and let her kill enemies through Vantage procs in Enemy Phase.

Weaknesses

Counterable

Ninja Laevatein doesn't function well outside of her Brave/Vantage niche, and it isn't terribly difficult to work around this niche, either through weapons like Firesweep Sword, skills like Dazzling Staff, or status effects like Candlelight+. Since she cannot inherit Null-C Disrupt, she has no counterplay to these skills.

She is also hard countered by Seals like Hardy Bearing, which prevents her from activating Vantage in the Enemy Phase.

As a flier, she can be countered by strong archer units in a single hit, despite her high Defenses.

Abysmal Speed

Laevatein's Speed is atrocious, and while that might not matter for her basic function, it still guarantees that many units in the game will double her. If a unit can survive her Brave retaliation - which can also charge her opponent's Special even faster - they will certainly have the ability to hit her twice, which could defeat her.
