Quick Riposte

Overview

This skill has the potential to allow any unit to make follow up attacks. This allows slow, powerful units to attack twice despite their low speed. Quick Riposte is most often seen on tanky units: They possess the defenses needed to survive enemy initiations, have low speed stats, and often retaliate with high attack stats. However, this skill isn’t for everyone: Bow, Tome and Dagger users gain little value from this skill, as they prefer to initiate attacks from range. Units with Quick Riposte must play defensively, luring and KO’ing enemies.

Synergy

Distant Counter is the most famous combo with Quick Riposte. This is the combo used by Hector, thanks to Armads having the effect of Quick Riposte 2. This skill combo allows a defender to hit any attacker twice, regardless of range or speed. Although this combo comes standard with Hector, it can be inherited to anyone, often being among the best build types for tanks or frontline fighters. Close Counter can also be used, but is less effective as most ranged attackers have weak defences.

Weaknesses

Enemies with Quick Riposte can be circumvented by luring them into your team and KO’ing them when they initiate combat. This is fairly easy given the aggressive nature of the AI in the Arena. Inflicting damage through Savage Blow can bring enemies below their HP threshold. Brave Weapons, and Desperation, allow for two attacks to occur before the enemy counters, potentially allowing a strong unit to score a quick KO before they can retaliate.
