You can't kill everything in one hit, but Yuri can usually take at least one opponent down and still survive the counterattack. Desperation 3 allows a wounded Yuri to capitalize on his Player Phase nuke role even after being wounded, especially as his low bulk will usually put him past the activation threshold from any hit.
You'll have to give up longer cooldown specials, but you may deal more damage through survival.
