 Clear Steps

This can be one of the more annoying maps of Continuum Turbulence. You start off in the center of the map, your Command Post and Heliports being orbited by four rather powerful Hydra’s. The map itself features many armored KCCO enemies, so bring plenty of Armor Penetration.

The Hostage rescue mission is relatively straightforward, aside from the hostages being in completely opposite corners of the map. Mind the Hydra’s orbiting the center of the map.

The Supply Line mission is a bit more annoying. The 4 Hydras will not allow you to complete the Supply Line without either distracting them, or removing them from the picture. The intended solution to the map is to use the Radar node in the upper left corner of the map to flip control of the 5k CE Cyclops units about the map to the Commander. These Cyclops are expected to then agro the Hydras, causing them to move off the central circle. This is, however, both tedious and obnoxious to execute, as other units may well murder the Cyclops themselves, and sometimes the Hydra’s do not play ball. Instead, we are going to be bad SKKs. Although they are marked as a ‘Dangerous Enemy’ the Hydras die when coming into contact with a hostage just the same as randomly trash, making it far more efficient to simply switch a hostage into the path of the Hydras and let the armored chumps defeat themselves while you build the supply line. This will, of course, be fatal to the hostage, but AK12 will understand.

Supply Line

Turn 1

1.1

Deploy an Anti-Armor Echelon on the Command Post, and the right Heliport.

1.2

Move the Echelon on the Command Post down two nodes. You will have 2 AP remaining, but end your turn now.

Turn 2

2.1

Time to get AK12 into position. First, move the right Combat Echelon up one node, up-right one node, and SWAP positions with AK12. This is important. Do not, at any time, rescue the hostage.

2.2

Next, move left one node, down one node, then swap with AK12 again.

2.3

Move down-left, and swap with AK12 again.

Turn 3

3.1

Move the upper Combat Echelon down two nodes, down-right, and then down once again onto the Supply Point.

3.2

The other Echelon should now move down-right as well, mostly completing the supply line.

Turn 4

4.1

Pick an Echelon to complete the long trek up and around, and send them up four nodes, left two nodes, and then down one node, ending in the circle behind AK12.

Turn 5

5.1

Move the upper Echelon onto the Command Post and end your turn. We don’t want to step onto the lower half of the circle yet, as not all the Hydras are out of the picture.

Turn 6

6.1

End your turn to let the Hydra Pass.

Turn 7

Move the Echelon on the Command Post down one node, and end your turn.

Hostage Rescue

Turn 1

1.1

Deploy an Anti-Armor Echelon on the Command Post, and the right Heliport.

1.2

Move the Echelon on the Command Post down two nodes. You will have 2 AP remaining, but end your turn now.

Turn 2

2.1

Move the right Combat Echelon up one node. This will preserve an AP next turn.

2.2

Move the other Echelon to the left, down-left, and then rescue AN94. After picking her up, move up three nodes. This will leave 1 AP left-over, but you can end your turn now.

Turn 3

3.1

Move the right Echelon up-right, and then swap positions with AK12.

3.2

Move back down to pick up AK12. Now, move left three nodes left, then down two nodes.

Turn 4

4.1

Move the Echelon on the inner circle to the right, to prevent a Hydra following you into the inner Circle.

End your turn, as the Hydra blocks the way for the other Echelon.

Turn 5

5.1

Move the left Echelon to the right two nodes into the Inner circle. Complete the hostage rescue and end the map.
