Equipment

Overview

FNC is an average AR with average stats. Her skill, Damage Focus, is what prevents her from permanently being overlooked, as its low downtime and effect of significantly increasing her damage output allows her to shine more than she would otherwise. This skill allows her to outperform (when it comes to the damage she deals) a good amount of ARs which only contributes to her effectiveness. Her Accuracy and Evasion tile buff for one SMG is not as good as it could be, however, nor is the tile pattern itself. FNC may not be the best AR for pure damage output, but what she is -- a good, budget option AR that will perform reasonably well in an AR/SMG Echelon -- makes her useful in her own right.

Strengths

High DPS

Among all current 3 star ARs, FNC possesses the highest average DPS. She even trumps a few 4 star ARs in this area.

Low Cooldown Skill

FNC’s Damage up skill, Damage Focus, has a very low cooldown and little downtime -- with only five seconds of initial cooldown and three seconds of downtime in between each activation at skill level 10.

Accessibility

As a benefit of being a 3 star, FNC’s core cost is low and it is rather easy to get duplicates of her, making maxing her Dummy Link less painful than the higher rarity ARs.

Weaknesses

Very Average

FNC’s stats are exceptionally average, and with no real gimmick of her own, she tends to be overshadowed by other more specialized ARs.

Full Analysis

FNC is a fairly average AR with middling stats. Her  51 Damage, 73 RoF, and 46 Accuracy cap all do not stand out among other AR’s -- of course, this incredible averageness is not a bad thing when combined with her skill.

FNC’s skill, Damage Focus, is quite good. Toting a 60% increase in damage with an initial cooldown of 5 seconds, it has a duration of 5 seconds, and cooldown of only 8 seconds. Combined with her stats, it allows her to outdamage every current 2 star, 3 star, most 4 stars, and one 5 star with similar abilities. This makes her an excellent choice for being the main source of DPS in an Echelon.

Unfortunately, though, FNC falters a bit when it comes to positioning. Her tile buff is a 50% Accuracy and 12% Evasion buff to SMGs -- not the most useful, but still helpful to a degree. The one tile up and to the right placement of the buff, however, means she’s forced into either the bottom left or middle left of a formation, the former position potentially leaving her open to units to fire upon her.

Overall, FNC is a generally decent 3 star AR. Since she doesn’t really excel in any category outside pure damage dealing, nor does she have her own niche, she can be   easily overlooked. Due to being a 3 star with high performance for her rarity, though, it is easier to acquire dupes for Dummy Linking, which makes her a great choice for the early game.

Team Options

Any SMG

Most buffs from SMGs are good for her, she is not incredibly picky. Dolls such as Skorpion, Sten, and Ingram go well with her budget nature.

Any AR

Most ARs will work fine being on a team with FNC. Dolls such as OTs-12, StG44, and FF2000 work well in an Echelon with her.

History/Trivia

The Belgian assault rifle, FN FNC, was developed in the late 1970’s by FN Herstal. It had a rough start upon first being introduced, as it did not perform very well in its initial design. It was eventually redesigned in the early 1980’s which improved its utility and efficiency. This impressed Swedish and Belgian servicemen, and it was later adopted by the Belgian Armed Forces as a replacement for the FN FAL in 1989.
