Equipment

Overview

T65, commonly known as an M16 clone, is unfortunately much worse than her 4 star counterpart. Her Skill is split between self buffing Damage and Crit Rate, which means she neither gets a meaningfully strong buff at night, and also gets Crit Rate, which barely makes a difference, as most ARs can’t equip VFLs at night. That, coupled with the fact that Night missions are a thing of the past, means there’s little to no reason to level T65 at all. New Commanders looking for a budget Night AR should look at 9A instead, which is obtainable through standard Production, unlike T65, and has a much higher Damage self buff.

Strengths

High stats

At 54 Damage and 76 RoF, T65 has better stats than most of her Night companions, which is surprising given she is just a 3 star. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to offset the low multiplier of her Skill.

Cute

When her competitors are a dream woman, an awkward yandere and a shy girl, T65 is just your typical cutie.

Weaknesses

Low multiplier at night

Her skill is split between 100% Damage self buff and 40% Crit Rate self buff at night. Meanwhile, G41, the AR staple, self buffs 75% at day and at night. As at night most ARs, including T65, can’t typically equip Crit scopes, this means that T65’s self buff is barely better than G41’s, and also has a shorter uptime (8/16 versus 10/16)

Bad skill at day too

Her skill only offers 22% Crit Rate self buff at day, which is where it really matters. The 40% self-buff at night barely makes a difference, as she has only 20% Crit Rate base stat, and can’t equip a VFL at night.

Team Options

To fully make use of her Skill, T65 would have to be paired with Galil Mod so she’d be able to use VFLs at night. But, raising a budget Night AR, and a specialist Night AR Support on top of that is nigh impractical when Night missions is a thing of the past.

As she offers Damage on her tiles, and desperately needs more Damage buffs to compensate for her low multiplier, she’s best fit on Position 7.

History/Trivia

The T65 (聯勤 Type 65) is a rifle developed and manufactured by the Combined Logistics Command of the Republic of China Armed Forces in Taiwan. The designated number '65' refers to the Year 65 of Republic of China (1976), the year the rifle's design was finalized. It’s basically an improvement on the AR-15 design by replacing the direct impingement system with a short stroke gas piston, to increase its reliability.

The story of the T65 begins with the M14, not in the USA but in Taiwan, where said M14s were now obsolete in the 70s. The Combined Logistics Command of the Taiwanese Armed Forces developed and manufactured this rifle, and the first prototype was completed in 1975. Finalized in 1976, it was named T65 because 1976 was the 65th year after the establishment of the Republic of China, 1912 being the first, and T just stands for Type.

The rifle itself is heavily based on the AR-15 and 18 (ArmaLite Rifles), largely a product of Eugene Stoner's work. It uses the short-stroke gas piston system from the AR-18 with further inspiration from the AR-15 (both rifles were quite similar), while the sights, stock, and handguards were redesigned.

The development started in 1968 with an AR-15, but Taiwan wanted a more reliable rifle (at the time the M16A1 didn't exist yet, so the M16 and AR-15 were still reliability nightmares compared to their later counterparts and even existing rifles like the M14), and this was achieved by dropping the AR-18's short stroke gas piston into the AR-15/M16, resulting in the first prototype.

The first variant was the T65K1, followed by the T65K2 and T65K3. Not to be confused with the South Korean Daewoo K1, K2 and K3 - the first two are also rifles while the K3 is a light machinegun.

The K2 variant is sometimes referred to as the T68 and the K3 as T86. There's also the T91 which is just a T86 with a removable carry handle, on a Picatinny accessory rail.

Earlier, the K1 had no carry handle, with just a rear sight. The K2 brought it back (non removable) and the K3 just kept that.

Fun fact: She has an Anti-Rain team logo pinned to her clothing, which seems to indicate she’s a fan of the team, as her weapon is also based on the AR platform.

Fun fact 2: She shares her artist with G3 and P226.
